Agreed. If anything, it becomes a very strong single target DPS esp by the end of the expac.
It is absolutely the fact that there is such a massive influx from classic, plus the trimmed raid sizes, that really makes it difficult to get a spot.

If you are a good warrior tank, then you’ll be desirable. Chances are you won’t be. Most warrior tanks are terrible. I’m not saying that to be disrespectful to you, just being honest.
You can roll a paladin or druid and have a significantly easier time.
That said, if you like a challenge and want to prove that it can be done, then by all means go for it.
edit: I played a prot warrior throughout original BC and there are some very rewarding moments and some very frustrating ones as well. It is rather fun playing aggressively in 5 man content. That said, you are dependent upon things like immolation oil and stormchops. You’ll also want a shield spike, and maybe even engineering bombs. It will make aggro much more reliable.
Or you can be a bear and just swipe. Or a pally and sip tea while you hit like 3 buttons.

In any good guild, the warrior raid spots are likely already claimed. There’s 20+ warriors in classic raids, and two in TBC raids.
Pick a ranged class like mage, lock, hunter. You missed the free raid spot as a warrior with classic.
