Warmode OFF, force flagged!

Just wanted to say that it’s not griefing.

Same here. We should have the ability to opt out of this silliness. I didn’t pay for a sub to have what - I - choose to do interrupted to the point that I had to log out of the game. I never use pvp and enjoy my questing. Yes, Blizzard, I AM being camped, and I AM being harassed – by YOU!

Jumping people while they load in and then corpse camping them in order to cause people anger and… grief… is very much griefing.

No it’s not. Because if it was griefing then that would be an actionable ban by Blizzard.

The night is young.

That’s like saying being drunk 24/7 isn’t alcoholism because it’s not illegal. This event is officially sanctioned griefing. This is why we’re trying to get the option to opt out of it. Because… and wait for it… it causes grief. Grief to the point of people not playing the game. Less people online means less engagement for Blizzard. It means less microtransactions. I was actually thinking about race changing a character and maybe leveling another… but I’m not now because I won’t be playing, so I won’t be thinking about stuff like that.

The event has directly cost Blizzard $20 because I won’t be online thinking about how I’d rather change a character up. Sure, that might be a rare case, but I know I can’t be the only one that thinks about stuff like that out of the million plus players in this game. It’s just bad business to piss off customers and what we’re asking for has zero effect on you.

I’m trying to get professions leveled up before Shadowlands. That means I have to portal to Outland, Northrend, the Cata zone(s) and Pandaria. All involve going to SW for the portals. I noticed in chat this evening there was a group forming to kill people in the mage tower (where all the portals are). Quite a few skeletons there. I suppose the zombies are PvP so your own faction can attack and kill you, was attacked in Halfhill by an ally Shaman (btw, Halfhill is insane, dozens of zombies swarming, killing everything but a handful of NPCs. Questgivers last 10-15 seconds tops). They even made it to Farmer Yoon, didn’t see any zombies in the garden area but somehow he got diseased and died. Seeds listed for hundreds, even thousands of gold on the AH. I just want to get my stuff done. A flag is an invitation to PvP, regardless of faction in this event. Spent 30 minutes just waiting out the PvP timers tonight between various ports. That’s a PITA.

That’s still not how griefing works. You can attach a buzzword to the situation but I’m here to tell you with experience in WPvP over the course of now ranging all the way back to Cataclysm, it’s not grieifng. Because if you look at the ToS, Blizzard has a clear statement that griefing is an actionable offense. So it’s not griefing. If anything, it’s ganking other players on your faction. Which we’ve seen plenty of times in previous expansions.

And Blizzard doesn’t care about your $20 because they know when SL releases that their playtime metrics and active subs will shoot up. There aren’t enough players who are upset over a prelaunch event that will last only 1 week for them to do a 180 on the whole thing.

From the wikipedia article on Griefing.:

" Griefing is the act of chronically causing consternation to other members of an online community, or more specifically, intentionally disrupting the immersion of another player in their gameplay using aspects of the game in unintended ways."

Don’t try to play semantics. You’re getting petty at this point. Blizzard did not make this event for you to turn into a zombie and sit at the port-in spot waiting for people to load in so you can kill them… with a repair bill… before they have a chance to move. That is the literal definition of griefing.

See… there are options to avoid all of those examples you gave: Don’t warmode. Boom. Done. No ganking. No griefing. This event forces that flag on you. Forces you to deal with the mouthbreathing sadists that like nothing more than to ruin your day. If they see you log off in anger, they’re ecstatic. Overjoyed. Oh how they laugh. Because they’re human garbage. Only someone that derives pleasure from the misery of others should have ANY problem with turning off the forced flag. There is zero, abosolutely zero reason why this shouldn’t be restricted to warmode exclusively.

Also, your statement on business shows you have zero understanding of business. Turning your nose up at any revenue is bad business. It would cost them nothing to allow their PvE-cenetered players to keep away from the PvP.

I’m all for the zombies. Bring them on. Just don’t put them in the hands of miserable jerks that want nothing more than to find the most horrible ways to ruin people’s days.

BOOHOO Can we have some fun in this brainless mobile game abomination of what this game use to be for 1 week! Log off go elsewhere! AN EVENT IS GOING ON FOR A LIMITED TIME!

So then tell me something. When Cataclsym was doing their prelaunch event, what’s your reaction to players who didn’t want to have to deal with it?

Look at her butt

Oh’ the humanity , someone died in a war video game.

You mean the completely optional, story heavy Gnomeregan/Echo Isles quests, the world shaking every now and then, or the completely avoidable and rare elementals running through town that got swarmed and stomped within seconds?

You mean all of that completely PvE stuff? That stuff no player controlled to go grief others? Perfectly fine with it. Why do you ask?

Camping people’s corpses is harassment; managing to kill characters that are not PVP is harassment. These are to my knowledge against Blizzard’s Terms of Service, and they are doing it themselves. If they want to give people something to be happy about to celebrate the upcoming expansion, they can add a few days to their subscription, or at least allow us to turn the exasperating thing off for our own characters.

Interesting. I’ve heard the same complaints about that prelaunch event.

I’ve done both of those things and haven’t gotten a single ban. Strange isn’t it?

Norwynd, you can have all he fun you like, but as with other things in life, don’t force it on others. Why should we have to take a week off playing the way we want to so that others can play the way they want? We should be able to opt out and go about our business.

Man this is really crazy. I wish there was this much energy into helping PvPers get to only do PvP like they did in MoP and WoD. Strange how we’re told to suck it up and deal but when the shoe’s on the other foot, tons of threads a made.

Leaving the faction capitals is hard, guys.

Not everything wrong is illegal. You do understand that, right? Telling someone they’re a worthless piece of human garbage to their face when they haven’t done anything would be ‘wrong’, but it’s not a crime.

I’m glad you admit to being a jerk though. It lets me know not to bother replying to you because all you care about is ruining others’ fun. Any argument you make against this being shuffled off to warmode is invalid because it comes with the context of “because then I can’t hurt people anymore!”
