*warmode* A powerful looking blood elf about to kill me

Agreed, but most players aren’t going to be high end arena.

I prefer color coded nameplates. I never need to think about what class the player is, because it’s obvious. Option is in the standard UI.

You also could use an addon like Spy, which lists nearby enemy players.

You can usually infer what combinations are going to be before the group. It’s a paladin, okay, these are the races. It’s a druid, alright you’re limited on what it’s going to be. Demon hunter? These are the top two covenants they most likely are.

In arena? I don’t think so. I’ve fought more than enough highmountain tauren to know this isn’t the case. I play with a troll druid a lot of the time. Paladin and demon hunter are the only classes blood elves can be that void elves can’t. Of course if it’s a paladin, you’ll know based on the silhouette that it’s a blood elf. But what about the other eight possible combinations? I’ve fought enough void elves of all classes to know that they’re out there.

Silhouette should mean something in high end content, specifically in arena where there are no real rules. There’s no Alliance vs. Horde. There’s no nothing like that. There’s just racials.

Of course not. Casuals don’t even use pvp mods.

I dabbled in arena enough to pay attention to it without having a problem finding out who’s who. Even in RBGs at 1800 it didn’t seem much of a problem. I don’t need the silhouette when I can tell what they’re casting, what class they are, and what they’re doing. Gladius and BGE helped a bit when I was learning.

That’s not to say I was amazing in arenas, but finding out what they were was never a problem I faced.

if its red its dead. rest doesn’t matter.

Look, it’s obvious we won’t agree on this. As a 2400 experienced player, I am of the mindset everybody should easily be identifiable based on silhouette. It’s fine if you disagree. We’ll just agree to disagree, and move on.

Understandable. I could see this being more important in a game like LoL. From those that I talk to who are high end Arena/RBG players, it didn’t seem to be a factor in their gameplay.

so tired of Elfwank

im curious what you do when someone is using an RP toy to change their appearance?

You mean every void elf not on the ptr? I mean you do mean that, actually?

Everybody absorbs information in different ways, and understands their situation in different ways. Maybe I’m just an idiot.

You can’t use those in arena.

Very true. May be something to bring up on the arena forums for more ways to differentiate. Or perhaps other addons to make this easier to see.

weird how the title is about warmode, but either way, in arena you should know who is on your team and who isn’t.

Or, and this has always been my stance, Blizzard could have made the void elves stand / run different like they did to the nightborne. I’m not saying take the helf options away, I’m not saying do anything like that. All I’m saying is it would have been nice if a modicum of effort had been put into differentiating them.

I could simply see that they are red, and attackable. As a alliance, I have never been able to attack a void elf that I didn’t ask to duel, but when in WM, I could ALWAYS attack a blood elf. Go less by looks, and more on if you can attack…problem solved

It’s an oxymoron.

Er… well… I can stand with the agree to disagree stance again lol.

You didn’t read anything stated. So I’m not gonna bother, really. It’s fine. You have a good one. The reason I brought up arena was because Velys had brought up same faction PvP, to which I highlighted that this is an issue because identifying what comprises the other team is important in certain content fields. That was it. You have a pleasant day now.
