Not this old nonsense about flying and immersion again.
What? Mists Classic isn’t even out yet. Where was this announced?
Yes because the pinnacle of interacting with a game is bypassing all of the content via elevation and then descending on the target. Much engagement, very compelling.
WoD and SL take too much flack for retconns. Fact is there are retconns all over WoW on technical issues. One of the worst collections of Retconns was the Chronicles which upended facts established from Warcraft I: Orcs & Humans through to the time the Chronicles were published.
Oddly enough, many players have no problem with those retconns but are particularly hard on following in game stories that changed some of the points that the Chronicles had retconned earlier.
Nobody cares about wpvp and you can absolutely 100% remain engaged if you fly around quest to quest. The game is about questline stories both minor, zone-spanning and expansion-spanning now. Getting harassed by some npc’s or npc’s with alliance/horde tag on your way to the next part of the quest is a hassle and annoying.
Oh don’t get me wrong: Flying is more efficient. I do it all the god damn time because I want to get things done and get places in a timely fashion. 10/10 perfect would fly again.
But as I pointed out: It does make the game functionally smaller by causing you to interact with the world less which btw also means other players.
I always visit my garrison. One of the best thing that came out of WoD imo. They shouldnt ignore it and just deal with it. Remix could of been awesome. Maybe turn the negative around.
Getting harassed by random mobs is not “interacting with the world” it’s a hassle.
And I don’t know what you mean by other players. There’s no other players in my game.
WOD was not bad, Legion was great, thats the difference.
could have been good if it didn’t suck, got it. what a revelation
That is my favorite expansion to quest in but there really isn’t that many collectibles to get in that expansion since they were easy enough to get when the content was current so wouldn’t make a great remix unless they introduced a lot more.
I liked Ashran better than Tol Barad or Wintergrasp even with all its problems. Let’s face it, any sort of open world PvP setup is going to have its problems, because humans can be smart, and humans naturally optimize around incentives. But that doesn’t mean PvP should never be anything but a lame sport completely detached from the large map strategic warfare that Warcraft is known for. Loot boxes in War Mode aren’t quite the same either.
Then you should be asking for ZERO mounts – just walk on foot.
If the Shattrath raid happened I would have loved it if the final boss was a dark Adal right in the middle of the map, with khadhar assisting you in the fight
WoD would be far more enjoyable for Remix than Legion, that’s for sure.
As far as I remember, it was only the main story that was linear and there were a lot of side quests and places to go in the zones.
I don’t agree that it would be better than Legion, but it would make a good Remix in my opinion.
WoD wasn’t bad in general but Blizz made a lot of bad decisions that led to many looking at it as a bad expansion overall. Personally I loved the idea of garrisons , just didn’t like the fact you could do so much without ever leaving it. There was no need to go out in the open world to go farming for mats , just sit in your garrison and do your farming there and the mission table for easy gold.
No, they don’t take nearly enough flak for retcons.
Retcons deserve to be criticized every time they happen; HOWEVER, it is worth noting that not all retcons are equal. “One Legion, Many Universes” is more detrimental to the story than any of the mistakes Chronicle made.
