I know this is an old thread, but I found it after Googling the boss. This is still a problem. Boss keeps bringing players to 1 hitpoint very rapidly and wiping groups in seconds. I tried him 4 times - I’ve done mythic+'s that were significantly easier than this low level dungeon. RFK is broken. Please remove it from the random dungeon pool.
Just came to say it’s still a bug. It’s been for years, for what I read. Just put this dungeon away for god sakes.
Can confirm that this still happens. I was just leveling an alt and decided to do 1 more dungeon right before today’s maintenance, and then to our entire group’s surprise this boss completely destroyed us every single time. Please fix this Blizz.
Can confirm this is still happening… cannot believe blizzard didn’t even check this out knowing many people are leveling for Dragonflight and before, in pre-patch they gave a buff with 50% xp so I don’t get why not leave the dungeon out of the random dungeons pool. Annoying.
The call here is to remove the bug. Removing the dungeon would be a bad move, for a few reasons.
As of today, this is still happening.
In case you were wondering, bug still exists 12/16/2022. This bug has some serious history, being around for at least 2 years. Blizzard should make an event for it at this point, commemorating the experience.
BTW just wanted to add, after dying to this boss multiple times, and 3 members leaving, we acquired 3 new members, all level 28. What we did was let those 3 level 28s go in by themselves, while the healer and tank (both 50+) stayed far far away.
The level 28s were able to take down the boss fairly easily by themselves.
It seems this boss is only a problem when there is such a disparity between levels in your party. The totem normalizes HP between party members. When you have high level characters, mixed in with low level characters, the HP distribution goes haywire.
So just friendly pro tip, you might want to either approach boss with lower levels or higher levels but not both as lower levels and higher levels together for this boss is what causes the problem.

Still happening, from what I’ve seen.
This is still occurring. Was unable to do this dungeon due to the bug. Just remove the damned totem effect or only have it apply to enemies. As is it just wipes the party making the quests and dungeon incompletable.
Bumping since it’s still happening.
Along with other tuning issues in leveling dungeons.

Happened to me multiple times while leveling.
Happening still on Live (can’t switch to my Retail characters) but this is halting progress in the last 2-3 times I’ve been in.
It’s…rare that one encounters a one-shot mechanic outside of a raid. In a leveling dungeon, there’s usually some kind of warning about it.
But in this case, it just happened. The thing about this is that if you stay outside of it, he drags you in to the actual area.
This is the kind of thing that makes people quit dungeons (as it did with my group).

3 years later, and still not fixed. Well done.
One shot my group until everyone left. Please fix this! Waste of everyone’s time and unkillable with scaling.
How can you possibly still have this in the game after THREE YEARS and claim to have any semblance of QA?
This bug literally breaks the dungeon. The only way you complete the dungeon if the tank is lower level than the rest of the group is luck and heal spam, and not having the tank take a hit just after spirit link hits him.
For god’s sake, fix this bug.
Luckily, your CEO considers QA a vital and important part of the company, which is why a bug that literally breaks a dungeon and makes it not completable remains in the game after 3 years of reports.
