my guild is making us pick mains for mythic prog so they can setup their roster for tww, i decided to go with a lock because i havent mained one before. kinda wanted to play spriest but it seems like dogwater so
as someone used to playing spriest/shaman what spec would you reccomend? I was trying out destro while my char is trapped in the abyss that is pandaria and all the chaos bolts looked pretty cool. whats the main lock discord for info? thanks

If you’re in a guild that is making you pick mains then surely you will be expected to play all 3 specs on the fly. You’ll simply play what the sims tell you to play, and that will change before Mythic releases. And then it’ll likely change again a few weeks into the tier.
Destro is a fairly simple builder spender. I would recommend that you invest more time getting familiar with Demonology as it would be more difficult to pick up mid-tier in TWW without having played it before.
As for Affliction it is mainly DoT management and stacking them up for 1-2 minute burst cycles.
Historically I feel like all 3 specs have had their glory but Destro is in the spotlight more frequently than the others. Demo has been doing well the past couple expansions though.

TBH i prefer destro as chaos bolt looks so cool… demonology seems like you dont do any damage and its all your pets lol…

Sigh, been playing Warlock for some time… ever since the removal of Dark Apotheosis I want to like Demo pet management I really do, as devs added all sorts of new looks for summon demons… but I feel the same way you do, seems like you don’t do any damage and its all your pets… that gets me to swap back to the other two.
Affliction got hit a bit hard IMO we lost Soul Flame and I Soul Swap… I miss my enemies going boom, however I did like the new Oblivion power and VFX love this new fiery purple with slivers of green look of Affliction powers. There is also the AoE of Shadowbolts you randomly cast as you Soul Drain or Shadowbolt your enemies, it looks really nice too!
I think we might see more interaction with the added Hero specs… for now I’m with you on the Destro… it feels good to play right now and its VFX look amazing…
I’m still wondering about Soul Fire animation… it looks old… and I could have sworn I saw in beta that it was updated. However that’s just me nitpicking ever since I started playing more modern online games have become so critical about VFX in game abilities lol
Destro is a solid choice to warm up IMO… but like mention before all of these spec will change as the TWW releases and our Hero Talents unlock and start to sync in.
To be honest,i love the old look of shadowbolt more with the flying skull, i wish there was a glyph to make it the older animation

We all do the new one is ugly and has that weird curve on it. Which I’m guessing they thought it would of looked cool. But ends up looking stupid. It’s supposed to be a bolt with fel energy but it ended up being some weird graphics with small flakes of green.
Look at incinerare spell effect from before the update. Someone in here mentioned it but I laughed when I look at malefic rapture for affliction and it’s just a copy form from implosion/ending of hand of guldan (one of these) from demo I think with barely any effort put into it.
Same goes for me for the old demon bolt graphic.
I don’t remember which but I remember there was one that was a bolt with I think tow orbs spinning around it when shot. Like fire and shadow. I believe the bolt had a long tail as well.
Actually most of the new designs visual for magic spell bolts and such look like dust instead of dark energy or fel energy guessing it has something to do with the engine visual designs.
Something about this engine type of particles effects just looks off.
Character models look amazing when they updated back in wod or maybe legion I think. But for spells and such it just looks pasty. Like the shaman lightning effects.
Seeing game’s spell effects like Pathfinder Wtor / BG3 / new POE 2 /hell POE granted probably a little less on the bloom id think wows budget should be able to come up with something good. Granted different engines and such but damn where’s the good update on the visual for our avatars active skills.
Felguard/Wrath guard still uses the old whirlwind animations warriors used to use and that’s like wod years old .
I definitely rolled my eyes when I saw that the team is homogenizing all the fear effects to look the same. I thought to myself how is this company getting billions of dollars but trying to be cheap as possible for the fantasy of their project. Like this doesn’t come from a team into RPG/fantasy.
I wouldn’t want to make a physical fear like a shouting warrior to look the same as a magic casters fear effect and then have different forms of fear effects from different magic schools looking all the same.

I would love if Fel Fire look more like this! See how cool the black, purple and GREEN is animated… I like something like this!
It’s a bit like Shadowflame with it mix of purple and orange colors but it takes the contrast of Green and Purple color and take it a bit further!

I already like that the Shadow of some Afflictions Warlocks spells have this purple fiery look… with slivers of green… but come on Blizz go full and beyond!!!
Hand of Gul’dan is demo’s flashy spell. Drain Soul is affliction’s.
I think that Shadow Bolt could use an update or at least make it larger… it does look odd when casting it alone…
Maybe add a talent that changes your Shadow Bolt into the Venthyr covenant Impending Catastrophe! Now that was from, the sound, how it look and how it work was peak cool FUN! It was like the Chaos Bolt and Demon Bolt but for Affliction! *

Also the animation and sound tie to it was soooo good… omg if change that to look like Fiery Purple flame shadow with slivers of green like they did with Rot… Ufff I change my Drain Souls for casting Shadow Bolt in a heartbeat or would pick that Talent spell if it was serrated from Shadow Bolt hands down even if its damage is not the meta!
Hmmm Demon Bolt looks really good but it should be made bigger, right now its so small you can’t appreciate the VFX and detail of it.

i loved the look of the old shadow bolt, skill with shadow swirling around it , it was aweseome
i really feel like they ignore what they can do with glyphs, just let me buy a glyph that gives me the old shadowbolt animation
also, i HATE the new demon summoning animation, the old school one with the runic circle and effects was WAY cooler, i want to use that again…
