Warcraft on a Tablet?

Hello

I never really knew a lot about computers or anything but in the near future I probably want to get a tablet of some type to use at work as I walk around. I currently play WoW classic mostly on a laptop.

I was wondering if there is anyone with experience with sticking a keyboard thing on a tablet and playing Warcraft on tablets? Are tablets good enough to run both classic and retail? and are there any issues with doing this you could think of.

Thanks for any input

You cans, in theory, install remote desktop software on yours tablet and use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse
but that software is a ‘grey area’ in regards to ToS and should be dones with a bitta risk.

Even thens, such software often has latency problems and ya gotta smaller screen to deal with too, doing any kind of actual gameplay may be a challenge!

The game is not compiled for ARM on windows, so you’d need to find a windows tablet with an intel or AMD processor for it to run natively. Using Remote Desktop is theoretically possible, but would likely be a very laggy experience.

Holinka, the dev that was the ruiniation of wow pvp, bragged about playing wow on a tablet.

It works on M1 mackbook if memory serves, but because ipad os and ios aren’t the same, you are still sort of stuck.

Only a matter of time though before they fuse the ipad and regular ios ecosystems (imo).

I know I guy who set WoW up on his tablet for fishing. It sounded to me like a lot to do to get there but he was sitting on his couch watching tv.

thanks guys. I appreciate the help. I may look into this.

I don’t see how this is grey as long as you don’t use this input to control more than 1 account.

The problem is that Blizzard may not be able to tell the difference between innocent RDP and ToS violating RDP. As someone who travels somewhat frequently, I’d love to get an official response on this.

Get a Microsoft Surface, a tablet with full fat Windows 11. Hopefully someday Blizz makes an Android client.

i did this in the past just as test of concept. it just doesnt really work well. you cant really play. at most you can maybe check your garrison/covenant table and/or the auction house. MAYBE do dailies or something easy but it would be extremely tedious.

I do likewise, but I can’t help wondering if a Surface is really a tablet.

They definitely are. You could mistake one for an ipad if you took off the keyboard cover. It just sticks on with a magnet. Microsoft call them 2 in 1 PCs, both tablet and laptop.

I’m looking at one right now, but though my 8 looks like a chunky iPad, I still find it very hard to honestly call it a tablet.
It is an imposter! A fifth column agent. A wolf in Sheep’s clothing.
As long as I can open WoW though, I suppose it does not matter.

Tablet? ez clap!

I run WoW on a Surface Pro 8 and it gives decent performance at low graphics settings (preset 3). I’m not sure that a thousand bucks+ for a Surface Pro 8 is a good use of money to run WoW on low settings, however.

For extra “I make poor financial decisions”, I have hooked it up to a Razer Blade eGPU enclosure with a mid-range GPU (RX590) and it works extremely well. Though obviously I am then tethered by a 2m thunderbolt cable.

While extremely costly ($1700), the Asus ROG Flow Z13 is the best specs, tablet wise. If not, surface pro’s are your best option.

I play WoW on my tablet and it runs great.
ASUS ROG Flow Z13 (2022)
of course, it is $1800 but has great specs for a tablet and I can take it anywhere I want.

give it ~80 years and every game will be playable on the most basic of tablets. every major game studio is gonna pre calculate every frame possible to generate with their supercomputers and we can all play on what is essentially just a monitor

*i have no idea what im talking about, just daydreaming.

anyways
probably doable if your standards are low. youre probably not gonna be playing on max settings @1440p with 150+ fps heh

I found this post a few months prior to making my Z13 (2022) purchase. After six months or so I can tell you that moving from a full size laptop ASUS(G752) to this Z13 was the best decision I could make. Battery life stinks but a power inverter is great. Big city’s on ultra will run 30-40fps and open world i float around 100fps. I have the ASUS Z13(2022) with the I7 and 3050rtx. Hope this helps you make your decision.
