Warcraft 3 a disaster?

If it was actually playable, didn’t constantly crash, and didn’t have bugs that would have been found inside of 3 minutes if they had actual QA people look at it then yes on both accounts. WC3 was an amazingly fun game, and $20 for a remaster is very, very fair.

However, the game’s overall quality is so far below par right now I can barely believe it’s a blizzard game. I quite simply expect better.

I’m having fun with it. The 0.5 is from review bombing due to outrage culture. I only expected it to be WCIII but with better models… and well, it delivers? So I’m happy.

It’s so bad, reaches the abyssal levels of Grand Theft Auto V

The amount of people that paid $30 for a poor ‘remaster’ instead of a ‘remake’ or ‘reforge’ like what was Promised is pretty amusing. The amount of people on these forums saying it’s worth it, is also quite depressing. Likely why the games are the way they are. People will eat it all up no matter what they do with it.

Posting the same thing over and over in this thread is going to make it so you can’t post here, just saying. Spamming here is bad.

You’re right, thought this was a different thread.

mmmmm spam

They went and made the original WC3 broken for online play. You need a clean install and to not touch battle.net if you actually want to play WC3 today.

I am curious as well. I only played the original for the campaigns and the custom maps. Never cared about online playing.

Most of the darts I see are about the graphics not being as stellar and some bugs.

The problem is more that everything in it is broken or removed. It doesn’t even have ranked. And these are on top of massive bugs (insta-defeat in first prologue, crashes, deceptive marketing, lack of cinematics shown at blizzcon etc.)

Features that were available yesterday and have been cut 12 hours ago:

  • Cross-region play (the custom game list is no longer global and you can’t play with players from other realms, meaning it’s much harder to find players and fill game lobbies)
  • Custom campaigns
  • Clans
  • Player profiles
  • Ladder (ranked matchmaking, stats, automated tournaments)
  • Good, battle.net 1.0 chat system (you can no longer use commands such as /f l, /join; information on how many players are currently playing; list of communal channels; battle.net news section; overall the chat system lost its’ soul)
  • Beautiful UI/menus (in reforged client the menus feel sluggish and less optimised; the chat box overlaps the menus, atmospheric 3D campaign backgrounds are gone, etc.)
  • Creative freedom in custom games (the WE EULA has been changed, adding a lot of limitations - everything you create now fully belongs to Blizzard, read more in other topics; censorship in maps and game names, for example a lobby called “booty bay” can not be hosted, even though it’s the name of an offical WC3 map, etc.)
  • Classic graphics in Reforged client look worse (shadows are missing, saturation is off, some spells/effects are missing)
  • RoC campaign is now using TFT balancing

Part of a reddit post about this issue. There’s more from it taken but that was the stuff I had sent to a friend to dissuade them from playing it in light of recent events.

I am actually not hating the game. Its pretty decent. But…I have that nostalgia effect. this was one of those games of my youth.

Mild gripe of its 2020, I’d like zoom out to show some more. the limited view area can feel confining imo. they didn’t have to remaster smaller workable viewing too maybe imo.

Only just did orc prelude and a few of human/scourge story. If pitfalls ahead I’d have not have seen them yet.

Or we’re just happy with the content? Your standards aren’t objective.

I don’t know… I guess if it wasn’t what you expected then yes… Blizz has an automated refund thing setup for it as of today, but also said several things are being patch and that the clans and leaderboards are coming in a major patch.

I mean 90% of it is the base game - of which they kind of ruined for anyone who didn’t buy Reforged - the rest is sloppily made textures with cut content being released as a patch later.

Reforged was absolutely not ready to be launched, even after the initial delay. It’s very clear it was unfinished and rushed out which is absolutely against (or should be) Blizzard’s own mantra. There’s a lot from the original Blizzcon trailer that didn’t make it to Reforged, though they still use that to advertise the game.

It’s sketchy and it’s far less than what you originally paid for. I’d rather just buy the original game (lost my discs) and play that.

That was pretty good.

Someone mentioned that the EULA received the biggest overhaul. lol

Their stock just tanked, sooo, yeah. Oh, and it was only forced out before it was ready because suits wanted some quick sales to show investors, so now the investors are getting the exact opposite of what they wanted. Yeaah, this is bad. Really bad.

They really need to leave Activision and tell them to jog off of a cliff.

The biggest problem is that they largely misrepresented what we would get.

I generally wouldn’t expect much else than updated graphics.

Until the company goes out there and over-promises, then under delivers.

So the misrepresentation of the outcome, the full game price, the breaking of the old copies of the game for folks, the lack of features from the original game, etc. - all of it just adds up.

I could look past some of the bugs (a later release date or patch fixes those) …but so many things are just off here.

YOu haven’t heard of the 0.5 rating then… >.<
