Wait, What? Gilneas is back?

Let’s hope so. The soon we get rid of the Nelves and Worgen from SW, the better.

I hope they include what’s happening with the Bloodfang Pack and Ivar Bloodfang, with the Death of Arugal and I believe the Alpha Prime as well, he’s the dominant leader of Worgen in that area now and probably hasn’t forgiven Genn for retreating from the Forsaken.

He and his pack arent as agressive and feral as the sons of Arugal were but they’re still relatively wild.

There will be a new World Tree

Let’s look at Blizzard’s track record.

Deathwing destroyed SW in Cata took Blizzard until Legion to fix it.

Loch Modan still a pond.

There still a huge sword in Silithus.

So expect Gilneas to be restored by the time they just shut down the last server.

It certainly seems to be setting it up for the near future, but hard to say if that will be in Dragonflight at launch or a later patch. One of my wishes for the next expansion, even before it was announced, was for them to focus back on Azeroth and revamp some under utilized areas such as Gilneas.

Gilneas has been reclaimed and back under Genn’s control since mid cata canonically it’s just not referenced in game in any significant way. There were some snippets in game back in BFA mentioning that Crowley and his pack have largely pushed the Forsaken forces out of Silverpine forest but that was also not reflected if you go to silverpine as the zone is still very much stuck in the early cata timeline still.

So we know the outcome is Gilneas is fully under alliance control its just a matter of when Blizzard feels like they want this to be a thing in game.

Gilneas will be restored in a book while remaining the same in game. :eyes:

Another blow to the Horde. They might as well make the Forsaken Alliance at this point.

So Genn actually likes Calia?

Not really. What they did to Gilneas was just a slaughter. it wasn’t defending themselves or anything.

He’s probably a bit suspicious of her because she’s undead but it’s still Terenas’s daughter, and he quite liked him.

He didn’t say that specifically, but he was definitely pleased at the prospect of the Forsaken withdrawing.

Time will tell.

Do the questline on a (EDIT: alliance) character and you can see for yourself.

Calia doesn’t say anything to Horde characters about helping out Genn.

She has you take a message to Genn in Oribos. You get his response when you talk to him there.

I don’t remember getting any message for the angry puppy. Maybe I’ll redo it tonight and see if I just somehow blanked though. I do “need” to unlock the Dark Ranger mog still anyways.

EDIT: I am misremembering, and it was my ALLIANCE character who got the final mission “return to Greymane”.

This was the content of the letter:

" "King Greymane,

The ally you sent to aid is was most effective, and in return for your patience, I offer welcome news.

With the formation of the new Desolate Council, one of the first topics I propose is the withdrawal of Forsaken troops from the Kingdom of Gilneas. In time I hope that we may come closer to agreement, and see both lands into a brighter future.

Warm Regards,

Calia Menethil
"

Genn’s response on reading it is :
“Well… this is welcome news. I find myself surprised in a pleasant way, for the first time in a long while.
Let us all hope that the future is indeed brighter”.

In Dragonflight? Maybe by 10.3 but doubtful. Maybe the expansion afterwards.

I hope so too though as I love the architecture of that city.

I would definitely enjoy this change and welcome it during this upcoming expansion. In certain aspects, this would make sense. The Red Dragons (lifebringer) could assist with the city. As for the Forsaken, the assistance from Maldraxxus makes it possible for them to restart the Undercity. I would definitely welcome Gilneas as an Alliance hub and a direct port to the Dragon Isles. It is time to use other major cities as travel ports or hubs. Plus, Stormwind needs to have the refugees go back to their previous lands (if they are rebuilt), or move to another major cities.

If Worgans want to be monks they would need Gilneas back, there is only 2 races left for monks, Lightforged Draenei and Goblins after Worgan are presented with the opportunity.

And people wonder why she’s a garbage character.
