Wait times and game imbalance

Que times as a healer in Blitz is 17 minutes. As a dps, it’s 30 minutes on average. Often times close to an hour. I don’t enjoy world pvp or none-rated bg’s as there is no carrot in that kind of pvp. It’s boring and pointless. Don’t care for pve either.

The only aspect that is fun to me is Blitz and you need an entire day to get anything done. I work for a living so sitting in ques all day long isn’t an option. I don’t know what you need to do to fix this, but I do know this, further splitting the player base with your cash grab expansions(Classic bs) isn’t helping.

Not that it matters. I hit just shy of 2100 and lost like 10 games in a row. BGB doesn’t feel much fun anymore even if you can play the mode. Nobody plays objectives whatsoever.

Game simply needs more players, unless blizzards starts caring about all parts of pvp that’s not going to change.

You are playing against only maybe 5% of the population so of course q times are long

Isn’t it what the 2k+ wanted, to be separated out from everyone else?

Enjoy

Hrm. The only time I have had hour or longer queues was at sub 1100 ratings. I have done three matches tonight on my ele and longest wait time was about 13 minutes at 2300-2400 mmr.

During off hours I have had some 30 minutes queues as dps, but most evenings queues seem pretty normal.

Yea, basically anything sub 2k is a gamble. Players start to play their role the higher you go. Does get frustrating to deal with in the lower brackets. Blizzard could offer more direction to players to get them comfortable with what their spec/class is good at.

Yea, do agree. Classic should have never been an full off shoot of retail. Should have been the same world with a phased experience with some minor overlap. I wouldn’t mind playing classic more, but the time to invest in both is just too much. I was realllly looking forward to wrath, but after a few weeks of grinding, just didn’t make sense. Really sucks they couldn’t have made classic more accessible.

Always pvp in the evening!

Seems a bit harsh but… how are lower brackets doing in terms of queue times?

Its identical right now. I have alt healers I play that are still in the lower ratings under 1500 and the que times are no different. I don’t think the que times get any worse till way up there. Problem is the ques are still super high even at lower ratings.

It wouldn’t be a big deal if there was something to do worth participating in while you wait. The real problem is there are too many brackets to pvp with not enough player base to support them.

Reg bg’s
Reg Epic bg’s
whatever the meme bg’s are called

2v2 Arena
3v3 Arena
SS Arena

BG Blitz

Classic pvp

Blizzard adds new classic servers every few years and every time they do this, more players splinter off of retail pvp. They keep adding new game modes which on paper is a great thing however, there aren’t enough people to support this crap!

It was time to consolidate 3 expansions ago. Not add additional division…

Regular bg’s really need to go. There isn’t enough support for them, and they harbor the vast majority of the player base.

2v2 arena is constantly being called impossible to balance and I don’t think you can attain glad mounts in 2v2(could be wrong) anyways so, delete the bracket…

Tough decisions have to be made. You won’t make everyone happy but let’s be honest, you can’t make everybody happy anyways. The right thing to do is to stem the bleeding. The games dead. She needs consolidation badly.

The real issue is the game itself tbh. People that play other games looking for something new to try are NEVER gonna want to master 40 keybinds. It’s normal to us because we’ve been dealing with this since the beginning. Honestly though, I think the over inflated buttons are incredibly overkill. You can’t balance a game with a million abilities that have a million different interactions with a mess of passives. It’s just not gonna go over well with anybody coming from other games.

LoL is arguably the most successful E-sport around and has been for decades. Yet the game has 4 primary keys, 2 summoner keys and 2 to 3 item keys needed at most. Wait times always less than 2 minutes. The reason it works, no barrier to entry.

Meanwhile back in WoW, you need 30 keybinds, something like 10 macro keys, half a dozen addon’s, if you want to play alts, now you gotta put in a ton of time getting used to those abilities too. Not to mention a mess of control keys.

When I say this next thing, I’m dead serious… I know programing languages that are less complicated than learning how to pvp in wow. The innerworkings of this game are actually that massive.

WoW has a bit too many keybinds required, addons are needed just to get basic info about the match you’re in that should be on the default UI like timers and gate/boss health with Capping, never mind other addons like Weakauras and Battleground Enemies, and there’s too much CC that makes it frustrating to actually PvP compared with other games.

I mean I could reinstall Guild Wars 2, fire up the game for the first time in years, and jump right in to playing. No need to download or update addons, no need to rebind my keys, no need to spend hours setting up my UI and addons and macros into a functional state.
I could literally just jump right back into PvP right away if I wanted to. And with the world vs world PvP I’d probably get a better experience than the current state of epic battlegrounds in WoW.
Oh yeah and I could level and gear a character in PvP in GW2 (at least back when I was playing).
And sure GW2 has CC but it’s far less, at least from when I played. Like the longest stuns and fears were 3 seconds long so you could actually spend most of the time controlling your character.

I only bring up GW2 as an example because it’s the other MMO I played enough personally to compare.
Imagine coming back to WoW after a 10 year break and trying to get into PvP. You’d have to completely redo your keybinds and UI settings. You’d have to find and configure addons and macros. All just to get a serviceable level of UI, never mind having to reach max level, buy the crafted PvP gear off the AH, and have a miserable experience for your first 10+ matches in casual PvP because you’re severely undergeared.
“Just crate farm bro.” Sure, do a boring non-PvP activity to get geared for doing the PvP content you actually want to do.
“You don’t need addons, bro!” Yes, you do. When the game’s default UI doesn’t even show you timers and status for objectives, something is broken. When you need to use Weakauras because the game doesn’t have built in alerts for important procs and buffs, you do.
“You just want 4 keybindings cause you’re a casual!” No, I actually like WoW’s complexity. I just think it has a few too many required keys. Wanting like 3 fewer buttons to press doesn’t mean I want 4 buttons to press. Sheesh.

WoW’s PvP is incredibly hard to get into for new or returning players, and this is a problem because it means the PvP community is not growing like it should (or worse, it could be shrinking). Like I would actually recommend learning how to PvP by playing on a Classic PvP server. Even with the risk of getting camped and killed by high levels, it would actually be less frustrating than trying to get into instanced PvP in retail.

I have only been playing since this expansion but these queue times make me just log and go play something else. I played WOW for about 2 hours yesterday and my 2s partner wasn’t online I was about to get in 3 sessions of SS and zero Blitz pops. I can queue up for some AOE2 DE ranked 1v1s or team games and the pop is 1-3 minutes max for either mode. The game has like 20k players and more then half of them just play campaign and single player. I played more ranked matches this morning in that game then I did all of last week in WOW because these queue times. Its just so fn boring sitting in stupid Dornogal next to those 2 NPCs making sword clashing SFX while the character models aren’t even connecting with each other so I just log.

They should remove some modes or something just make the game have 2s, 3s and blitz. Or better yet replace the 10v10 and just make blitz an 8v8 idk. They should definitely remove the regs BGS because they serve no purpose and alot of these regs only players sit in town complaining about premades or their faction loss while camped in the graveyard. Well if they queue Blitz they wont go up against full stacks or get graveyard camped.

“oh but I am just a casual” etc etc. HUNNI. There is no casual in WOW PVP. the gameplay is sweaty regardless of what mode you hop on. You can be casual and queue blitz. Either way game is already pretty boring. I am only here because SWTOR is dead so I figured a game with HUGE playerbase would have a ranked pop but I guess not. I can sit in queues in SWTOR which has 20 players and get no pop or I can sit in queue in WOW that has allegedly more players and get no pop or I can log and go PVP in a game that gets a faster pop.
