I remember the 4 hour runs in there. And warriors rolling on MY GODD%*# HUNTER LOOT THAT WAS MY BOW YOU SON OF A gets tranquilized and dragged off
I miss the original Wailing Caverns, it’s just not the same anymore. One of my favorite memories was after a horrible ZG or AQ20 run, cannot remember exactly it’s been years and I am getting old, the guild did a naked WC run–was funny watching an overconfident Rogue die to a swarm of mobs.
Wouldn’t want to live there, it’s a bad neighborhood. Too many angry centaurs running around outside.
for the old times for the good times

Wailing Caverns is the best.
I loved going back in classic and seeing the notorious “jump”. I’m so surprised anyone ever fell from that, but sure enough many did, it’s hardly even a jump ![]()
I guess auto run does do you like that though when you least expect it.
From my experience it was those turning on follow who fell more than anything–amusing either way tho
WC was great.
It was long enough to give you that ‘dungeon crawl’ feeling from Dungeons and Dragons, it had a set that was actually really great for multiple classes, and it was a first subtle introduction of what the Old Gods were and had in store for us.
Went out of my way with this druid to make sure I had that set for transmog, love the look of it
My vote for worst maze dungeon in the game- original Sunken Temple.
That positional puzzle was a pain.
dont’ forget “has full fang set”
I would say it would rank 2 for me, number 1 was mauradon and a close 3rd was that awful place I spent at least a month on was Dire Maul trying to get hunter gear.
Honestly?
Didn’t mind it, besides how there was like 2/3 bosses locked behind quests
Was basically just an upper/lower dungeon circle
