Consoles came along too late for me to have had a childhood hero, alas.
But there is one character I keep going back to, from the '90s.
I was born in 76.
The Legend of Zelda will always have a special place in my childhood memories.
I got thrown from a horse when I was 11 and compound fractured my left leg, which left me in a cast from my toes to halfway up my thigh for Christmas that year.
I got a NES (came with Super Mario Brothers) and Zelda as Christmas presents (Parents probably wanted me to have something to occupy myself since I couldn’t really do much while on crutches). I was blown away. I’d never played a game like it, and I was instantly hooked.
