WAGGLE Megalounge and Thread (Part 7)

Word on the street is that it is free admission and no expense spared.

Yeah, it’s a growing problem in our area too. The economy hasn’t done any favors for folks in low socioeconomic status. Plenty have had to choose between rent and bread, and sadly lost housing because the bread was more imperative at the moment. Our local food pantry and soup kitchens are swamped every single week. As people migrate to the food sources, there’s not enough public places that have trash cans. Result is lots of litter. But also, some of those garbage trucks screaming down the highway puking out refuse doesn’t help the situation. They actually beefed up fines on companies for that a couple years ago.

Those places sound so cool. I miss getting out and seeing live music.

Most towns in the summer have started free concert in the park series during the weekends. They began as a grassroots movement to get local musicians more traction outside of space/capacity limited locations. You grab a lawn chair & go. It’s been catching on nation wide and growing. Some will allow food trucks and some city councils will approve sales for wine & beer.

I’ve met some of the absolutely coolest bands this way. I love it.

Most of the trepidation comes from having little ones, and one that’s autistic and doesn’t do well with loud noises.

When I was a kid, or, well much younger, almost every weekend - and some school nights :metal: - were spent hanging out at this place listening to jazz fusion bands, especially one named Ohm

Did anyone else play this game:

Was thinking about the new Indiana Jones game and suddenly remembered I had this on a very old computer back in the early 2000s.

I definitely get it. Most of the venues are very family friendly and if you have a good community will help you keep a watchful eye on the kiddos. But, there’s plenty of accidental feedback screeches between sets that could pose problems. You’d have to trial and error maybe sitting farther away from the collective audience. The cool thing about it being free, is that if it is too overwhelming, you get to pack up and only lose a little bit of drive time. That’s even if there are such shows in your area, it’s growing but not all places are up on the times.

My nephew was austic, I remember the struggles keenly. Public bathrooms with hand dryers were an obstacle until he was about 8. Even if someone just opened the door and he heard it from outside, would absolutely be the end of an outing. I appreciate you and all the unseen work you do to get your littles through this world. It isn’t easy.

I’ve heard Ohm! Man, I haven’t thought about them in a hot minute.

Our son turned 9 a few months ago and he still gets anxious with hand dryers.

I recently started playing catch with him and that dude has got much better hand eye coordination than I gave him credit for. I was on the verge of tears it was so cool to see him catch and throw.

Oh, but he can be a smooth talking little dude
last night he’s sleeping with my wife and I’m sleeping in his bed because of our different schedules due to my travel. He took an uncharacteristically long nap int he afternoon. Well, homeboy was wide awake at 1230am and saying in his sweet, broken but easily understandable voice “hungry. Want eat? Downstairs?”

We take him downstairs to “eat” and he just plops on the couch and expects to come down and play or watch tv. We tell him “No tv, you were hungry? Here’s your food.” And he takes on bite of his corn puff stuff and says “all done.” And then he starts his scripting, no doubt reveling in his new found situation, free of the confines of bed and “sleep”. Oh! And as he’s being escorted back to his sleeping quarters, he sees a banana and asks for that instead! “Hungry. I want banana, please.” That he does eat

He definitely knows how to pull the heart strings to get out of bed.
