lets see, Halo CE lore basically starts after the covenant is glassing the planet Reach, following a single UNSC ship thats fleeing from the planet, being pursued by the covenant, a religious fanatical cult of aliens.
the Pillar of Autumn, the ship did a hyper jump too unknown coordinates that landed them on a ring world called “Halo”
in a emergency, they fled the ship, only to land on the ring itself, in Halo EC, you play as Masterchief, a skilled Spartan whose around 8ft and weighs alot more then the average guy.
so, master chief lands on the ring in a emergency pod, finds survivors, and the infiltrate a covenant gravity lift to get inside a vessel that is holding Captain keys and other survivors inside. (the reasoning being, they wanna know where Earth is)
so they escape, and learn about how halo is some kind of weapon, but they dont know what kind of weapon, covenant treat it as a religious weapon, while the humans trying to figure out what it could be while they escape.
later on, they find out that theres a Cartographer that can lead em too the control room of Halo, so they get there, and find themselves going INSIDE the halo ring to find it, leading to a snow environment inside.
fast forward, they make it into the control room before the covenant, the AI that is master chiefs partner in this case, gets inside the controls, an learns what the entire halo ring is all about (well not all at once but eventually)
which leads too captain keys and his squad finding the Flood inside the old research station, the covenant released them but tried locking them back inside (which leads too a very spooky scene)
