Not sure fresh will be a draw last time on wow, we had fresh and harder versions of the vanilla dungeons to make vanilla dungeons as hard as if memory serves tbc raids. There are I think three ways it can go: some kind of hardcore maybe where there are more resets but also it locks out at 1 wipe, a pre-tbc server with tbc talents as playing naxx and other raids at 60 with tbc talents was fun and knowing the character would progress to tbc would cause players to play knowing that while the endgame of current era would be different from it they can still gain by raiding, same as pre-tbc but instead for a version of plus added eventually as these things take time, but with the stated goal of a plus server and new retro raids.
I mean I see no reason why we can’t eventually get vanilla, +, tbc+, wrath, and cata. It might even solve the bot problem in that there might not be in the long run a version of the game which has alot more players and gdkp fueled by progression being hard.
We don’t NEED that kind of population to have a successful fresh server.
A population of less than 10k on a single server will keep the world feeling alive the entire cycle of the server.
I would argue we don’t WANT that kind of boom in population for Classic Era. Last time it ushered in:
- min/maxing taken to another level
- toxic world buff killing outside of the norm
- content creators and streamers needing to make content
- layering
- modern play styles brought into an old school style game
How far are you willing to go to get Classic+ and what would it even be? Because at this point, it sounds like you all want rehashed Vanilla with retail graphics/raid mechanics/game mechanics/modern commodities that would completely nullify what Vanilla even is.

Make retail and Classic Era separate subscriptions. I’d happily pay $15 just for Classic Era.
