Vulpera mage just doesn't make any sense

They likely found magical artifacts in their scavenging.

They can physically be warlocks, the problem is the culture/society that the player character comes from doesn’t allow any one in their tribe to be warlocks.

Vulpera are little better then goblins and have no reservations about members of their tribe using whatever tools they can to make profits/find treasure.

This isnt dnd. And I dont say that to defend Edgies point, I’m just saying that just because DnD splits it into two separate classes doesnt mean wow follows the formula.

Almost every important lore figure in wow who is a mage got to where they are by studying and working hard.

Those who have magic come naturally (bloodline or luck as described) usually fall into the other spell casters in wow like Warlock, priest, and even druid and shaman at times.

All that being said. I consider mages to be “just a natural thing” as the op put it. One of those classes that is and should be available to all races in the game. Warrior, rogue, and mage make up the three basics:

The hit stuff guy
The sneaky guy
The magic guy

Those kind of evolve into the other classes depending on the races culture.

Vulpera Firefox.
“But it’s an alchemist!”
Yeah, well, they fling fire at stuff.

'Sides. Who’s to say that - as Mortis mentioned above - they don’t just end up learning how to Mage from the Horde mages, if only the player-character vulpera are mages? They’d certainly have a good roster of Horde races to apprentice under. Same for Warlocks, assuming they didn’t just get their hands on a collection of evil artifacts (which they might have, considering their Sinister Shadows racial). While they do have a natural affinity for some classes - like the rogue - they’d certainly be able to train in other classes.
The only ones they really can’t access are ones that require connection to an organization (such as the Illidari) or unwavering devotion to a cause.
In fact, the only race that can’t be Mages are the Tauren - who have cultural reasons NOT to be mages.

Thry have horde resources and teachers, they can be mages.

Correct it’s not DnD but the game is still based off DnD so why is that a bad thing. Vulpera are a clever race, it’s really not that hard to think one was given a book and managed to unlock their arcane power.

There’s still no night elf paladins. Even though there’s already an NElf paladin npc.

So instead of advocating for what you want, your choice is to argue against what other people have?
That kaldorei paladins exist in lore and in NPC, but not in PC options, but then argue that because a certain race has no NPC representatives - but actual reasons to exist - that they shouldn’t?
Goodness gracious. No wonder everyone’s so testy these days.
I’m sure you could have made a ‘night elves should be able to be paladins’ thread and you’d have gotten a standing ovation and a trophy, dude.

Couldnt make it past the first sentence? I didnt say that to claim vulpera cant be mages.

I’m pointing out that this isnt dnd and blizz determines how the classes work. And right now, mages are almost exclusively by study. Even the prodigies have to study and learn. And it is conceivable they learned on their own.

Like I said, I interpret wow mages to be a natural thing anyone can be, including vulpera.

I said this the other day, and you reminded me of it

I think mages are played by people who wish they were nerds, but lack the intelligence, so they need to roleplay as someone with a high IQ in a video game to experience that

And when you threaten their rp by implying it’s easy to become a mage, they get flustered and sad

if you’re implying that’s me - no, i prefer my zero iq playstyle demon hunter.

No I just love bullying mages every chance I get

The Vulpera have been rubbing elbows with the Horde and Zandalari off screen since the events of vol’dun, such as Kiro being taught Shamanism.

Given Vulperian(?) nature of being highly intelligent, tricky, and resourceful, I’m willing to bet that a few of them were quick studies in the basics of elemental and arcane magic. There is some suspension of disbelief but I really hope we get to see more of the Vulpera moving forward because as a lore race, they have an oppertunity for the first time to come together, claim some land, or at least develop a racial identity beyond “Travel in bands to avoid horrible death in the desert.”

well since magic hasn’t changed that much…they found a book and did a more home schooled approach.

A book from 10000 years ago should be fine. the nightborne mages just saw the bubble drop and walked right into the job.

Cool went the NB…not one new magic spell has been invented since we went off the grid.

Except these theories imply that there ARE mage vulpera running around. Unless you want to show me all the vulpera mages teaching people in Vol’dun, then this whole “they are just self-taught” philosophy holds ZERO weight.

There are multiple caravans, and given its a desert they may not be dressed the part.

Bad Vulpera, bad.

:newspaper_roll:

No necrobumps.
