I still don’t understand why the Void elfs are blood elf defectors and not silver covenant or otherwise alliance-loyal high elves trained by Alleria. It’s not a perfect solution to the high elf issue but it’s at least a step in the right direction.
I don’t wanna bring that discussion here, but in short: because it would make no sense for high elves, who rejected dangerous uses of magic, to start dabbling with the Void. Also, I think because that, because void elves were a last minute decision, Blizzard needed a very simple short story to introduce them in their recruitment scenario, so making a new group of blood elves was the easiest solution.
As I once posted in the old forums, the recruitment scenario could have been way better if the Silver Covenant participated in finding Umbric, and a number of high elf fighters and rangers, including some existing named characters, went with Alleria to Telogrus and ended up transformed alongside Umbric’s group. That alone would make the void elves a more diverse group, with two inner factions: Umbric’s researchers and former Silver Covenant elves.
That, plus more customization, of course.
You’re right in that that’s probably a topic best avoided here.
We need darklight Vulpera. Vulpera that are a mix of light and void to finally bring peace to the two opposing forces! Just like Shadow the mini pet.
Dusk/dawn vulpera… From light comes darkness and from darkness light
This it would have made more sense for elves of the silver covenant than to have been converted from SIlvermoon sometimes I feel Blizzard needs to be reminded when ever they make big choices in the plot on where they are at in their story.
This is a discussion about Vulpera, not High Elves
What if the Vulpera were created by the foxy wild God specifically to fight the void corruption but lost their purpose and history when the wild God was killed? Perhaps the return of that wild God could reawaken them! Tinfoil hats abound!
If the Alliance ARs are Junker Gnomes and some kind of Light Born Undead, I’m never playing this F’ing game again, lol.
ok…well…here’s my thing, my train of thought. I’m not OPPOSED to Junker Gnome. However…if Alliance gets Junker while the horde gets a new, fresh, completely original race vs a rehash of an existing race. That is a DUMB move by blizzard that would cause them MUCH more trouble than do any help. It’d be like…‘here’s this new amazing recipe that I came up with: it’s exotic, bursting with flavor, and completely new!’ vs ‘oh, you’re getting a twist to spaghetti.’ (though I love pasta…so…bad example lol)
Not just from a playerbase but from a business standpoint, doing something like that is just…a terrible decision.
Also, what is this ‘a lot to support’ them? I mean…sure, we’re getting a new area they’re based in, they were shown at the blizzcon. But beyond us seeing them, where has there been any significant plot been shown of them assisting the alliance over horde, especially when both factions are interacting with them without a clear divide? Especially if they’re going to eventually side with the Alliance? That would be something slated for the end of the expansion, not right in the middle.
Blizzard is also all for creating stuff that will net them more money, there is virtually little appeal to junkergnomes in…more or less 90%+ of the playerbase. You don’t see people saying, ‘OMG! If they become playable, I’ll reup my sub for ever!’
On contrary, I’ve seen almost nothing but negative comments from a vast majority of people about them as an AR concept. AGAIN, I have nothing against them, but I have no interest in them at all.
For something to be READY in 8.2.5 they’d need a fairly good amount of showtime and reason, I feel, to join the battle. 8.2 -> 8.2.5 for them to join, sure it COULD happen, but if Vulpera are the next slated AR for horde…that have build up from day 1 in the expansion launch, then SUDDENLY A NEW AR FOR ALLIANCE IN .5 PATCH!..that’s really just poor.
Anything can happen, but until I have solid evidence that one is going to become an AR while another is slated to take a backseat forever, I will continue to believe in what I feel :3
It’s still too soon to really say, one way or another, what the next alliance AR will be.
Probably more like 98-99%. I don’t have any problem with them, but they don’t really appeal to me personally (I don’t even know if junker gnomes is their official name? I haven’t checked…). I don’t really mind what they decide to add, so long as I get to play as the foxes. Hopefully they choose races that appeal to as wide a range of players as possible.
If they added junker to alliance and vulpera to horde right at this very moment, here’s my guess for how many of them you could expect to see running around at level 110-120:
Junker Gnome (short-term, 3-6months): 0.15 - 0.35% of characters
Junker Gnome (long-term, 12-18 months): 0.4 - 1.4% of characters
Vulpera (short-term, 3-6months): 1.4 - 2.3% of characters
Vulpera (long-term, 12-18 months): 3.9 - 7.6% of characters
between 0.3 and 0.8% of alliance would possibly switch faction as a direct result, so better make sure the following AR announcement brings the alliance something in very high demand. I don’t even want to bring attention to this tbh, and risk having blizzard decide not to add them at the last moment; I’d selfishly rather they just add the pair of them asap despite the consequences, and then it’s done. No going back.
Vulpera have the story building. They have the reason to join. They have the utility towards the horde, to join. They have the hatred for the alliance, to join. They have the animations to be playable, they have geosets, they have everything necessary to BE played.
If they don’t, it’s such a waste of resources and most importantly, money, since it means some people on the team were doing this for the hell of it, instead of doing something more productive and get fired for wasting the company’s time and resources
All they need, I think, is the alliance equivalent to be equally ready and then…POOF, ready to be an AR! Though, I feel, for the alliance to have one ready, it doesn’t even need to be a BIG story, if it’s still half a year away…they need someone driven into the alliances arms, someone that NEEDs their help/assistance. Someone who morally fits in with them. And most importantly, someone who brings the same uniqueness and creativity to the table, that the Vulpera bring for the horde~
and they have the ball and chains shackled to their ankles by the Ashvane Company in the Redrock Mines, while Sylvanas gets buddy-buddy with Priscilla Ashvane… (dunno what’s going on there, or if there’s spoilers on the PTR, but that seemed really inconvenient).
Yea, that may be so, but that’s like…minimal compared to a lot of the other attrocities, and Ashvane is also Kul Tiran…which is an Alliance AR
If they have little interaction with her, or don’t know of their bretheren being shackled in Tiragarde by Ashvane Company, then it wouldn’t necessarily be a strike against them. Especially considering what they already have for their cause lol
I gotcha Lightforged, fel empowered humans.
I found this oddity tucked away behind the Vulpera hideaway. Does anybody recognize the symbol? It doesn’t appear to match any designs I could find in the vulpera camp

Never noticed it anywhere before. You should explore Vol’dun, see if you find the same doodad elsewhere. If it’s not found anywhere else, then it may be used for a future questline.
either that or perhaps it might be one of those things that are connected to some of the new profession skills? Just a thought.
Your words exactly represent my sentiment on this subject, sir.
it’s just…I don’t get it. Sethrak have been shown for so long, even since blizzcon 2017, we found geosets, animations, other sides that put them towards being an AR race before they locked everything tightly. They’ve been shown off just as long as the vulpera have, actually, it’s just that a lot more was found and discovered on the Vulpera before everything went on a major lockdown.
There’s so much more evidence towards them than Junker or that Jinyu, and that ‘light undead’ hasn’t even been shown at all in the game, not even in reference yet. Has Calia even been mentioned at all?
I’m just basing my posts off facts that are already brought to light. I have no idea if Sethrak would go alliance, but right now, there is nothing else that shows remotely the kind of possibility that they do: same release time as Vulpera, massive leaks on datamining info (just not as extensive), a strong initial tie in with them. They need more development, sure, but I have a hunch they’re going to be made more relevant for when Old God stuff comes more to light with their knowledge with dealing with Mythrax for so many centuries.
Not saying something else won’t happen in conjunction with Vulpera, I’m just basing it off of exposure and the like. -shrug-
