Vote to Abandon M+ Key : Otherwise 24hr Lockout?

People don’t just quit.

If someone quits, you were most likely not making the timer anyway, and your key was already bricked.

No he is well within his rights to ask his teammates to co-operate but its also within their right to do whatever they please.

Blizzard has been clear on this as leaving keys is not a bannable offence and the responsibility falls onto the leader to find competent/patient/like-minded players.

So basically you’re in a key and its bricked but the timer is still going and you want people to stay until the timer actually runs out before they leave?

Depends when he asked.

  • Before a run when gathering folks? NO
  • After he shows that this group will not make time at all? YES

No. But it’s even easier to just leave.

God the forums will be on fire. But M+ groups would be doing great for the week.

If people leave, just replace them with bots that do as well as them (err on the side of worse so they don’t get bullied out). Win-win

As long as it only needs 20% to pass.

No. If I’m doing a 15 AV and the dps die on the orb phase on the 2nd boss, then I’m hearthing out. By that point you should know the mechanics and if not, label your key as such.

TL;DR

No. The game is buggy and disconnects people randomly and for no reason. Would really suck to get locked out of M+ because you got disconnected.

And if you say “oh well disconnects won’t count” - game can’t differentiate between a true disconnect or an Alt + F4 maneuver. All they know is there was a disconnect from the server.

Didn’t the OP suggest a vote to abandon key option? If everybody else voted to stay and you leave, I’m sure a timeout debuff is reasonable.
The stay until time runs out is just suggested break point.

The thing about common sense is that, in reality, it’s not common at all. Just like you don’t agree with my suggestion, many more will disagree with me, or disagree with you. In the end, at least a vote system can help to ensure that “most” are happy.

I have another idea. Stop playing with pugs if you don’t want to deal with pugs.

Disconnecting mid key doesn’t end the key.

You log right back in.

Then I won’t leave. I’ll just stand so very still, you won’t notice me at all.

Until you vote to abandon that is.

Why would someone opt for this system when you can just leave with 0 penalty at the moment?

Why does someone have to cop a timeout debuff if the rest of the party are bots and it wasn’t listed as a completion/learning key?

I’ve said it many times implementing a punishment system is exploitable and overall just an awful idea as there isn’t a 1 size fits all punishment.

Do these systems determine WHY the person is leaving?

So i will just vote yes and go afk indefinitely and force someone else to leave :joy: took me total of 10 seconds to find a work around and grief others.

Which is part of the problem with people suggesting stupid things on GD.

Common sense literally means a good sense and sound judgement in practical matters. If you have common sense you should be able to see through the BS and make a sound judgment based off logic.

This idea doesn’t work for 100% of the situations AND is highly exploitable therefore it is a bad idea and probably shouldn’t be implemented (common sense)

People don’t agree with most of these suggestions is because its down right dumb?

Lets make a blanket rule that can punish people under all circumstances and is easily exploitable.

What if they get kicked?

Would someone replaced by a bot still be eligible for loot??

What if the bot that comes in isn’t a gnome!?!?

I mean, m+ by design promotes toxicity and elitism. Especially at high keys.

No, M+ promotes good gameplay.

Bad gameplay promotes toxicity.

This is just about one of the most toxic systems ever thought of.

Scenario 1:
A group of people all gang up on someone for dying and harass them in chat. That person wants to leave now. Their choices are to convince the people harassing them to abandon the key or to leave and take a 24h lockout after being harasssed all key.

Scenario 2:
One person wants to abandon a key while the rest of the group does not. That one person doesn’t want the lockout so they instead choose to sabotage the group until they eventually say yes.

Could come up with 100 more.

No, it promotes toxicity and elitism. That’s by design.

Some times.

Leaving a key doesn’t end the key either though.

Why do people not realize this already happened. The deserter debuff. Tanks that didn’t like dungeon would just sit and not pull anything until they got vote kicked from the dungeon.

@Arku

This is the common sense/critical thinking I am referring to.

A player can sit down and think it through and figure out the potential drawbacks of dumb GD ideas. You don’t need to be a genius to put 1 and 1 together…
