I wish they’d change shadows mastery. Make it something cool and interesting. The current one feels like a chore, and as you said it holds back every part of the spec, especially dark ascension.
I’m happy that you’re still here fighting the good fight aneurysm. I haven’t played since BFA but I was fairly active here during the dragon flight beta. It’s sad that the class design isn’t what brought me back for TWW. I am here solely because of Metzen’s interview. I’m copeful that the class design will be sorted out by the developers as the world soul saga moves forward and your posts are good to see.
I wish things were in a better state for Priests so I didn’t feel the need to involve myself.
But alas, things are just not sitting right with me and there are so many questionable things that I can’t help but to get involved and speak my mind as I can’t sit back and ignore so many blatant issues.
With the added history surrounding Priest and more so Shadow to me regarding development decisions and with my personal experience where I believe I truly have a pretty good grasp on what makes Shadow both good and fun, I just wouldn’t be able to get over the fact of me NOT doing the best I can to share what’s great about Shadow and when it felt the best and worse and why and how to improve it going forward to fit the more modern version of the game.
Despite those I know have differing opinions compared to mine, I just hope we all do the best we can to share and explain what we fine enjoyable and frustrating as Priest and Shadow so that eventually, the wow devs will have some basis of understanding and direction to form a goal and vision as to what shadow will eventually evolve into and become.
I really do feel like the devs are in desperate need of assistance for some reason as Priest and Shadow seem to be in a perpetual blind spot for them.
Case in point, all 4 of the Shadowlands covenant priest abilities now truly do not exist in any of the priest trees be it the class, spec or Hero trees where as I can notice on my alts that they all have at least 1 or more somewhere in their class/spec trees (might not be all but it seems like it).
So that tells me that each idea they came up with in Shadowlands for Priest was so disconnected to how the priest specs play to absolutely remove any semblance of them entirely from the trees. That to me is just very telling as to the devs understanding of what Priest needs and failing and delivering it each and every time.
I agree with you, the ability they kept was Mindgames from Venthyr, continued to nerf and make it completely uninvolved, underwhelming to the point is at all time low now sitting as a pvp talent that’s again undermined numerically
I think the Damage/Healing reversing aspect is what Made Mindgames so interesting, but more so in PVP which makes sense why it’s a PvP talents but I think it should just reverse damage/healing alone but really lean into that so that it lasts an uncomfortable amount of time or it reverses a lot be it the form of it lasts short amount of time but the reverse aspect is like 2x or 3x the incoming value. So if you get hit for 1000 from a target with Mindgames on it, it would heal you for 3000.
Also it should work on either dealt or receive is reversed.
For example…
If you Mindgames a warrior and then his healer heals him, it actually damages him and if the warrior self heals it also damages him.
Or if cast on a healer, his heals will damage and his damage will heal.
So regardless of the target that has Mindgames on it, any action taken from that target is reversed and if their ally tried to heal them, that heal deals damage.
Basically a screw you button to the target.
Also, I would be a fan of Unholy Nova returning and place it in the class tree and make it a choice node with Holy Nova.
Then add in synergies within the class tree or even the spec trees so make it do more than healing and damage.
Regarding the last 2 Priest Covenant abilities, I just don’t think they really mesh well with Priest and all 3 of its specs and as such I don’t think they should come back at all.
But those are my opinions.
Now you’re cookin
That’s a cool idea I like that.
The class tree feels pretty lacking if you’re shadow spec. That would help it feel more balanced
