Void elf paladin

instead of the dumb void elves, alliance should had gotten half elves so that the alliance can have a high elf looking race that can be paladin.

that’s for gameplay purpose only, not in the lore.

Probably because the only Half-Elves we know of in the story are like three people and not much else in the way of a populace.

That said, with Elisande mentioning the High Elves and their human love I would certainly like a race of elf-blooded Humans akin to the Bretons in Elder Scrolls with a variance of elegance and ruggedness in their customization options.

Although even there, new Blood Elf options allow them to look more half-elf like with tinier ears and full facial hair. (A feature regarded as Half-Elven in D&D where elves can’t grow full beards in that setting apparently.)

I doubt the takeaway from that is suddenly Half-Elves on the Horde, but at the same time it does make the Half-Elf aesthetic more difficult to imagine, short of maybe having the human model with less hypermuscular proportions which I’d be on-board for.

LMFAO this is the funniest excuse I’ve heard; because Void elves are less than 100 defectors of the Blood elves & they are playable. If blizz want to put more half elves in they can, high elves lived in Dalaran for hundreds of years since the Arathor empire so I doubt there aren’t so many more half elves out there. It’s also the reason why no one was surprise at Kalecgos’s appearance when he took on the form of a half elf instead of a high elf.

While true and I agree with that, they can make the lore go that route, it is just the only explanation I can really think of and not to knock the idea down either because I’m certainly supportive of it. Void Elves happened due to an accident that took all of five minutes but Half Elves would require a generation to come of age.

I’m pretty fond of Dalaran humans being playable through that method though, elf-blooded magical humans with a slighter build. I’m sure that would make a lot of sense even if technically it would be sort of new lore that humans and high elves did more than just build a kingdom together. But unlike Void Elves it’s perhaps much more natural to the setting.

I would be 100 percent okay with that, in fact that was a discussion we had in our chat was about that very thing! It would fit the lore and be a neat addition to the game!

Hey Kaol! That is true, the Night elf priest mechanics and colors are the same as human priests, so it is definitly possible for night elf paladins to do the same. But it would be really neat if they were silver and blue based on Elune empowering them.

Paladin Powers

Though his own Light-given powers had waned somewhat over the years, Tirion could still feel strength and grace flow through his aging limbs.

Metzen, Chris. Warcraft: Of Blood and Honor . World Wrestling Entertainment. Kindle Edition.

Tirion felt a dark shadow pass over him, choking out the holy power of the Light. Panic threatened to overwhelm him as the grace and strengthening energies of the Light fled his body. The blessed energies, which had been such an integral part of him for so long, ebbed away just as if they had never been.

“No!” Tirion growled in hopelessness. “You will not die, Eitrigg! Do you hear me? You will not die on me!” he yelled at the comatose orc. Once again he slapped his hands on the orc’s chest and concentrated with all of his will. “By the grace of the Light, may your brethren be healed.” The phrase wafted through his mind repeatedly as he reached deep for the power that lurked somewhere within his spirit. “In its grace he will be made anew.”

The Light could not be taken from him, he insisted. Men could strip him of his armor and titles, they could take away his home and his wealth—but the Light would always been within him. It had to be.

Slowly, Tirion felt a searing heat rising within his body. It filled his center with strength and light that snaked out toward his limbs. He almost cried out in joy as the familiar energies raced through his hands and engulfed the orc’s ravaged body. Tirion felt as if he were floating on air. The strength and purity of the Light flooded his being and cascaded out through his body like a halo of holy fire. Awed and humbled by the reawakened power, Tirion opened his eyes and saw that a warm, golden glow had enveloped Eitrigg.

Paladins don’t simply cast the light like other casters, they have the light strengthening them throughout their life; not only when they need to call on its powers, it is always within them. It’s the reason why Tirion, even so old can still fight on the front line against the Lich King’s forces from vanilla to wrath.

That is how human, and possibly dwarf, paladins function. It’s been mentioned before but when the Paladin class is made available to a race, it’s mostly just mechanically, as only humans and dwarves have Paladins. Draenei have Vindicators. Blood Elves have Blood Knights. Tauren have Sunwalkers. Zandalari have Prelates. While they’re similar in function, they are not Paladins by the human definition, and don’t go through the same rituals.

That being said, the only way I see them adding Void Elf paladins is if they remove race/class restrictions entirely.

Look at Turalyon and Alleria they had a child. But Alleria dove into the shadow magic while Turalyon stayed in the light. When we find them again they can not even touch each other as it will cause them both pain because she brought the void into herself void while Turalyon is bathed in the light.

Literally in the quest after we find Alleria she saves us the player and Turalyon and when she touches him it causes a small explosion.

Blood Knights function in the same way, my guess is you don’t read the books at all and is just assuming things. Also you don’t seem to understand how the light works at all, no matter what each race call their version of paladins & it doesn’t matter what type of rituals they go through for each order; what makes them similar is the fact that they channel the light through them to enhance themselves & fight using the light.

Here’s how the Blood Knights work

Liadrin felt his new surname, Bloodwrath, was a fitting tribute. Above, Solanar turned to face two more combatants.

Cyssa had also gained the top floor, however, and was eager to show her mettle. She shouted a loud cheer as she swung, channeling the Light through her lance, dropping the two attackers to their knees. As one of them drew a dagger and attempted to stand, Cyssa decapitated him with a fervor that bordered on glee.

Rapid footfalls sounded just behind Liadrin’s position. She twisted as she brought her horse around and raised her ranseur. She felt the Light well within her. There was that brief but now familiar riot of noise inside her head as she channeled the Light through the ranseur and into the attacking Wretched leader, catapulting him back into the tree he had been hiding behind.

Galell snatched up a nearby sack, whipped the door open, and clasped his hand around Orovinn’s throat, driving him against the far side of the hall, channeling the strength of the Light into his grip, trying desperately to ignore the clash of discordant noise within his head as he did.

A Blood Knight Paladin that was a Paladin long before the formation of the Blood Knights

Mehlar had been a paladin under the legendary human Uther the Lightbringer and was a veteran of many battles with the Scourge. He blamed Uther for many things, however, including the fall of Quel’Thalas. Mehlar was certainly a straight arrow, a sterling exemplar of moral rectitude. Although Liadrin did not necessarily agree with his theories, she admired his conviction.

I guess void elves being paladin might be a good thing lorewise, that way they can explode & wipe out all the void elves with them so blizz can just add in half elves to replace them.

You got really defensive about that real fast.

This is what I was responding to, which seemed like a direct reference to the Arthas book, where they sat down and infused him with the light. All of those quotes you brought up are entirely separate and honestly pretty close to how using any school of magic is described in any Warcraft book. Nothing in them even implies that using the light for them is different than casting a spell.

Or are you arguing that tauren Sunwalkers, which are basically sun druids, wield the light in the exact same way as a human paladin? I dunno. I’m honestly surprised that you got so confrontational about it so immediately, given that I was agreeing that void elf paladins are basically the very last race/class combo that Blizzard would ever do.

Sure, but is stinks only having 2 healing classes to choose from :frowning:

I agree solely because of the high elf customizations, high elves should be paladins therefore Velfs should even if lore wise Velfs shouldn’t, since Helfs can and that’s how were going to play them (like how wildhammers are customizations for regular dwarves) they should be… if they didn’t have the Helf customization though wouldn’t make sense

Oh boy, this thread again.

While we are on the topic of Void Elf Paladins! How about Night Elf Paladins! Seems to work lore wise, and as more stuff from shadowlands comes out, there was a video from Bellular gaming that said that Elune may be a light lord and the creator of the Naaru… Kadgar believed it could be true in the game! So maybe we try and start with some Night Elf Paladins and than move to void elf? Void elf could still be possible, There little teleport thing could solve the Paladin mobility issue… haha! Anyway I like this threat! and if you all have time go check out the “lets make a case for Night Elf Paladins!” and like and comment or just discuss! I want to see if Blizzard will at least comment to the thought!

No, casters do not channel magic into themselves; if you actually read what I post, you can see that Galell channeled the Light to strengthen his body. Galell was a friend of Liadrin & Lor’Themar that trained as a Blood Knight & die in that story so he never shows up in the game.

Example of mage’s magic.

The last ones stumbled inside, and the gates slammed shut with an echoing boom. Kinndy and Jaina rushed forward, casting protective wards on the gates.

Golden, Christie. World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War (p. 185). Pocket Books. Kindle Edition.

Rhonin muttered an incantation, his fingers fluttering as he concentrated, then nodded to Jaina. She began to cast the portal-opening spell, but didn’t understand what she saw.

Golden, Christie. World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War (p. 207). Pocket Books. Kindle Edition.

A smirk curved across Jaina’s face. The orcs froze, literally, in their tracks, their lower legs encased in ice. Jaina’s fingers danced in the air, weaving a spell, calling fire out of nothing and hurling an enormous whirling ball of crackling flame right in their midst.

Golden, Christie. World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War (p. 221). Pocket Books. Kindle Edition.

There could have been mention of arcane or fire magic channeling through her before she unleashes that those flames, but that didn’t happen; she simply call forth the magic because unlike Paladins that channels Light through them to enhance themselves, mages don’t need to bother with internal power & simply cast their magic.

Shaman

“No!” cried Thrall. He shot out his arms desperately, pleading silently, Spirit of air, hold them still! Do not let them be used to slay so many innocents. He reached in his pouch and touched the small carvings that represented the elements. Their essences manifested in glowing, pulsing images of these figurines. Such a totem appeared at his feet as air came willingly to his call, and the wind that suddenly sprang up wrapped itself around the writhing wave, attempting to restrain the tsunami.

Golden, Christie. World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War (p. 289). Pocket Books. Kindle Edition.

Thrall asked the spirit of air for aid again. A gust of wind, raging at near-hurricane levels, blasted Jaina so fiercely that the mage stumbled backward, toppling to the sand.

Golden, Christie. World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War (p. 290). Pocket Books. Kindle Edition.

Asking for the favor of the Spirit of Life, Thrall summoned two spectral beings—spirit wolves, transparent and misty, but every bit as dangerous as the more corporeal kind.

Golden, Christie. World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War (p. 291). Pocket Books. Kindle Edition.

Thrall did not even twitch when the cannons went off. Behind him he heard screams of torment, but he was untouched. He called on the Spirit of Earth, pouring out his pain, and Earth responded. In a clean, precise, direct line, the earth heaved and buckled. It went straight from Thrall’s feet to the mammoth door like the burrowing of some giant underground creature. The door shuddered.

Golden, Christie. Warcraft: Lord of the Clans: 2 (p. 262). Pocket Books. Kindle Edition.

Thrall called upon the Spirit of the Earth.

This place serves nothing good. It housed prisoners who had done no wrong, elevated evil to great power. Let it fall. Let it fall.

He spread out his arms and began to stamp rhythmically on the earth. Closing his eyes, Thrall remembered his tiny cell, Blackmoore’s torture, the hatred and contempt in the eyes of the men he had trained with. The memories were shockingly painful as he sifted through them, reliving them briefly before letting them go.

Let it fall. Let it fall!

The earth rumbled, for the final time in this battle. The sound was ear-splitting as the mighty stone buildings were pulverized. Earth churned upward, almost as if it was eating the fortress.

Priest

Anduin nodded. “Two can play the protection game!” he said, raising his hands. He uttered a prayer and spoke the power word Shield.

Pocket Star. World of Warcraft: Paragons (Kindle Location 3447). Pocket Star. Kindle Edition.

As the drakonid charged, the boy stood firm, surrounded by an aura of Holy Light. He opened his palms to the sky and spoke the words to dispel magic. With each word, the earth resonated with energy, shaking the gravestones and sending a ripple across the surface of the lake. A flash of fire exploded from the sky and hit the drakonid as he rushed in.

Anduin when he rez or super heal his father

The others present watched in awe as the prince closed his eyes and slowly began to chant. At first it was a soft and gentle sound, but as his voice rose in crescendo, it became a beautiful and powerful song. As the words came, his hands began to glow with light, faint at first, then brighter and brighter, until it was competing even with the setting sun, bathing the entire cemetery in the shadowless light of midday.

Pocket Star. World of Warcraft: Paragons (Kindle Locations 3577-3580). Pocket Star. Kindle Edition.

Notice how they didn’t mention anything close to the light channeling through his body, all it did was his hand glows meaning the light simply touches the surface & the hand is used to direct the magic like mages.

I might have missed it but where in the lore did they say Sunwalkers are Sun druids? It only mentions that the Sunwalkers are turn to worshipping the sun instead of the moon like how they did before the introduction of Night Elf Druidism to their people; and that the Sunwalkers are mentioned to be “the most militant branch of the tauren armies within the Horde” from the quest Blind Them(Alliance-Krasarang Wilds). So unless you can find it somewhere that they said Sunwalkers are Sun Druids then your argument is wrong. If anything the Tauren priest, Seers are more of what you are saying, since the Seers are former Druid & Shaman.

No, just please no. Some class race combinations just DO NOT make sense. Please stop trying to dilute to significance of WoW lore in gameplay even further than it already is.
