Void Elf-High Elf Customization Thread

That’s fair but how would it take time to the extent that you say?

Did Sylvanas going from NE to the first update do anything? Alleria being Void seems like an odd thing to believe would take all that long, but killing her off would create a new narrative and more story so I don’t object to that avenue either.

Can’t say I blame you, as a major Sylvanas fan then less so as they have written her in Legion, BFA and Shadowland I really can’t. Lol.

It’s not that I think it’d take all that long. It’s that I think it would be a waste.

The only goal I can see from it would be to stop people from asking to look like her, but it wouldn’t so what’s the point?

That and I can’t see any good lore reason for it. If she was going to get more Voidy looking from her powers, she would’ve done so by now.

There actually is like I said other day she literally siphoned a fallen void Naaru, she should literally be radiating purple 24/7 like a gas cloud.

thats the whole point of updating her model. if shes ever a focus in a future expansion, particularly one where void and light are coming to ahead in some kind of cosmic war, perfect opportunity to update her. it doesnt even have to be from further corruption from heavy void magic usage, maybe she gets a new power. she gets starcursed hair and a new look. then starcursed hair is passed on to player void elves etc

alleria would look awesome like this and actually not look out of place with void elves behind her

exactly. it never stopped people before void elves. people will still pretend white hair is appropriate for a void elf using blood elf skin tones but it also has nothing to do with the ridiculous requests to be blood elves just reflecting the people she now represents

Certainly, but Alleria will still be effectively a flash point if she’s changed like that.

She arguably isn’t one of them.

She’s made a different way after all and we have no lore that even remotely says it’s being done that way again or in fact how new void elves are produced at all.

Gods yes!

Umbric is a far better representation of the void elves as a whole.

I wouldn’t mind Sha stuff…

Don’t worry, soon there won’t be any night elves left anyways. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mouths where there shouldn’t be mouths.

Yes.

Excellent.

This.

Umbric is a far better representation of void elves.

This.

Hey I’ll grant you that for sure.

There’s a difference between updating a model and making someone look completely different.

Even if all things went according to your wishes and alleria was stuck in perma void form. There’s nothing that stops void elf fans from wanting to represent the high elves and blood elves in telogrus rift.

They do don’t they? But I’d be careful with that phrase… it could be thrown right back at you if/when this happens:

Don’t you remember? The goal is to get a “win” because they haven’t had a “win” yet. And depriving Alleria of her current appearance in favor of something completely voided out is a “win” in their eyes. They know it won’t stop people asking for blonde hair, but it will make them feel better if they can take away Alleria’s current appearance.

This can never happen, I like Fezzy and Avarie far too much for there to not be any Night Elves left. :yum: :yum: :yum:

I think there’s a distinct reason she doesn’t.

The main reason void elves were made blue and given tentacles in the first place was so they’d remain distinct visually from blood elves, and look cool. That’s it.

Blizzard even stated (in an interview I think, though I can’t find it atm) that void elves were meant to remain distinct for the duration of BfA.

Alleria isn’t blue because there’s no reason for her to be. The void elves were based off of her void plot, not the other way around.

Nah, some people just want the void elf leader to play into the void aesthetic. I get it. I just contest it because it doesn’t make sense lorewise, and any new lore to justify it would be contrived.

Well since you aren’t keeping track of wins it shouldn’t even be on your radar (though isn’t that just convenient to try to keep out of a conversation to mention the fact your the side that has gotten things at the expense of others already so perhaps its time for the devs to value the other side of the argument for once)

I think it works two fold I think it works to solidify a message on the topic of hair options, but I think it works to benefit the Void story as well. But no where in there is it some “evil” out of spite to be mean idea, it’s just an idea I can see benefitting both parties (one I include myself in) as well as being a logical story progression route.

Where I will clarify is I don’t think the idea that Alleria being Void and seeing that as beneficial to people who don’t want more natural hair options is a bad thing, like that isn’t a bad or malicious thing to want.

But Void Elves aren’t visually distinct from Blood Elves anymore, they look almost identical without the hair colors or hairstyles so it begs the question why would it matter what your leader looks like now vs previously.

And it isn’t BfA anymore, so technically Blizzard upheld their word.

Because changing her would involve contrived lore or a terrible retcon.

I don’t think so otherwise changing Sylvanas from a NE model was contrived.

This image alone speaks for itself.

Still changes nothing, you aren’t any different mainly by hair colors because many of the styles are similar, I included them because I’m nice.

This also wouldn’t be the first time for this, I mean have you played the last 3 to 4 xpacs? It’s not that far fetched to change anything at any time now.

Vanilla didn’t have a proper Thalassian model, so that was the best they had. It made sense to change her.

Alleria canonically isn’t blue, so her suddenly being blue would be contrived.

That’s fanart of a player character.

And Void Elves canonically aren’t natural skin toned either yet they suddenly were given the options.

But updating Alleria is too much? I think thats the concept I don’t get, I actually like it more than just killing her off personally.

I just want to add it took a minute to get golden eyes on BEs, it wasn’t this “well it would have happened by now” concept. Alleria’s story with the Void is a new story Void Elves are new, their lore especially pertaining to more Void aspects should be explored.

Just because they’ve made bad changes or retcons in the past doesn’t mean they should continue to do so.

When you roll a void elf, nothing explicitly states you’re from Umbric’s group. What reason would the High Elf Wayfarers and Silvermoon scholars be there for if it wasn’t to say more elves were taking up the void?

I mean no offence when I say this, but saying options that exist on player characters is noncanon just a stupid argument.

Again, it’s not that it’s “too much”. It’s that it’s bad lore.

My point is I am sure the side that opposed HEs would say the same thing about suddenly allowing VEs to have non void skin tones.

The difference here at least is it would be expanding the racial leader (and we know racial leaders is how Bliz tells stories and VEs need more lore / story) and expanding them in a way that is their actual theme.

Personally I recall wanting Alleria updated awhile ago and I remember disagreeing on it and not thinking much about it again, but seeing Magnificents posts on the topic, and others, I can say I haven’t liked an idea as much in a hot minute, I think of course people who want natural hair options will keep asking but I think the model update for Alleria would be valid and send a message on the issue regardless, I also think it benefits VE fans with more Void story and less HE ideas taking over.

Is that because you actually think that or because you don’t want Alleria looking how she should look? I will accept your answer as long as it’s honest.
