It’s half arcane half light, and blizzard said the blue arcane eyes would return with its cleansing.
Not only that they said that the gold eyes are meant to mostly represent those who use the light, but that it doesn’t mean those that don’t wouldn’t have their eyes go gold.
And I don’t think it’s lightforging anyone.
It’s just giving them a direct link to the light that they can make use of.
They said that most get it through devotion… Others don’t.
Those not using those powers can still end up with golden eyes thanks to the Sunwell.
I understand. I was hoping for more magic oriented options for night elves. More jewelry and azshara’s skin tone would be nice too, but devs wanted to focus on their main theme (nature).
They did the same thing with blood elves, BE only got options to represent part of their racial identity. I really hope they fix this.
I really like them too, they have so much potential… is sad how they are always left behind, like why they weren’t in zin azshari confronting azshara too? =/
Our campaign will never stop, keep up this overwhelming support! Another thread has recently started as well, continue to spread the word for our fellow friends!
Yes, but only Blood elves have the option to be a traditional, and normal High elf, and not a Void High elf, which comes with a multitude of conflicting lore implications.
Additionally it’s worth noting that the only canonical use of the High elf customization being used in-game has been with the Blood elves, whereas I don’t think I’ve seen a single canonical use of fair skin, or blue eyes on any Void elf characters yet.
That’s something you want, but not something that is the case. As it is, thalassian high elves can be normal most of the time and the void form only manifests when attacking. Just like Alleria.
Well, I guess if we pretend they don’t bleed purple and illuminate like void glowsticks in combat you’d be closer to the truth, but even then the lore implications that come with Void elves conflicts with that. Unlike modern High elves they’re no longer linked to the Sunwell, and even worse their very presence threatens its existence.
I can’t imagine High elves like Auric Sunchaser, and other light reverent elves are too thrilled with the idea of consorting with dark magic that puts the very soul of their people in jeopardy - which is likely why the customization isn’t canonical for the Void elves just yet.
Consorting with dark magic that puts the very soul of the people in jeopardy is that made High Elves High Elves in the fist place, and Blood Elves Blood Elves in the second place.
I don’t need to copy blood elf hair styles/colors on my void elf, but please for the love of God make at least a couple non emo void tentacle hair options for me to use please?
What do you think the Sunwell does again? it empowers and fuels the High elves and Blood elves with arcane magic, its that very birthright they’re fighting to protect, and the very purpose of the Sunwell itself.
The Void elves on the other hand have rejected and severed themselves from the Sunwell entirely, (and for the most part, purposely) and instead consort with a force of magic that actively seeks out the destruction of the very soul to their people. Void elf culture is an antithesis of standard/typical High elven norms, and society. These are conflicting themes you must grapple with when creating a void elf.
I think that’s just how their eyes were before the fel crystals were put in place. It would be cool to see more natural non glowy options added in, like non glowing green, grey, hazel, etc.
You say it empowers them, I think it actually weakens them, because High/Blood Elves literally go crazy and can even die without the Sunwell or Arcane energies around. That’s definitely not healthy, that’s the literal definition of addiction. They’re corrupted by Arcane, basically.
They’re absolutely no different than Void Elves in this sense. Elves seek power and to control destructive or powerful energies. Arcane is not some sort of benevolent, clean energy, like you make it sound. The difference, though, is that Void Elves at least regained independence from any sort of magic well. If the Sunwell were to be destroyed again, Void Elves would be the only survivors, along with a few High Elves, those who meditated and resisted withdrawal from the first time (and perhaps some Blood Elves).
