I’ve got the Veteran Equipment quest. I’ve now acquired two pieces of veteran-track equipment from Prey (hardmode): Preyseeker’s Sleek Boots and Holy Retributor’s Orders.
I still can’t advance the Veteran Equipment quest. I even tried upgrading Veteran gear to see if that triggered the quest, with no luck.
So I have this bug as well.
I did my 1st hard mode hunt, was rewarded a 2H Sword “Preyseeker’s Falchion” item level 233 Veteran track 1/6.
This triggered a completion of the 1st part, “Acquire a Veteran track item,” but I needed 10 more Veteran crests to upgrade it for quest completion, so I did a 2nd hard mode hunt.
Was rewarded boots, “Preyseeker’s Polished Greatboots,” item level 233 Veteran Tack 1/6.
I then went and upgraded the Preyseeker’s Falchion to item level 237 and the quest swapped the (Complete) flag to the upgrade and removing it from the Aquire.
I hope there isn’t something after this quest that I’m missing out on.
Same problem as OP. Got a Veteran piece from the Prey (Hard) event. Didn’t get credit for “Acquire a Veteran track item”, but when I upgraded it, it did complete the 2nd part of the quest.
I have the same problem as above, acquiring preyseeker’s rugged grips (233) on my shaman. The upgrade shows, but the “acquire” does not.
Abandoning the quest and retaking it worked for me.
I, too have encountered this quest bug. I have a newly acquired “Preyseeker’s Falchion” it was Veteran level 1. I upgraded it from 1 to 3. It is now 3/6. The quest did not budge or respond.
ok so I dropped the quest and retook it.
it had 3 objectives now,
Acquire a vet track
Acquire 20 Vet crests
upgrade a vet track
when I retook it the first 2 objectives were complete.
I did my 4th hard mode hunt and got enough crests to upgrade my sword again, this time quest completed successfully.
Same. And veteran dawncrests are not currently dropping from correct sources either.
I tried dropping and reaccepting the quest and it appears the quest completion requirements changed…

This is annoying for anyone who had head start as it seems to be an issue with accepting the quest before Tuesday’s maintenance. Simple fix here is to drop and reaccept.
Same here. But hey, at least they fixed the Personal Key to the Arcantina bug immediately…
Same for me. I hate that I have to drop it and reaccept b/c I’ve already spent my veteran crests! They are rare at the moment. I need this quest out of my log!
Same here - just adding to the BR for Blizz reference.
Getting the same issue here. Just did a prey hunt and got veteran gear, the “Veteran Equipment” quest did not recognize the gear as veteran equipment.
Have now acquired multiple veteran items on two characters.
Neither character has received credit for it on this quest.
E: looks like it’s a widely known thing, and probably broken.
If you drop the quest, then re-accept it, you’ll likely get credit for having the veteran gear… just tested and confirmed.
