I don’t think it was intentionally misleading. They mentioned it came from a mount which is typically something that allows other to share benefits. If they wanted to restrict it they would have just stated a quest that allows you transmog and mailed the quest to you.
I still really don’t understand the fuss, this wasn’t going to be very exclusive anyway because most people would not be just buying the base version unless they are buying for linked accounts.
What other mounts typically allow others to share benefits? I can think of about ten (two-seaters, repair, auction house) out of the hundreds available.
People thought they had to pay extra to get a thing, based on how a product was advertised, when they actually didn’t have to.
what about that is misleading you get a mount that awards a quest? nowhere does it say you are the only one able to get said quest or does it even imply that?
Better question is what mount out there that has an additional benefit that cannot be shared. There is no point in looking at basic mounts with no extra benefits at all.
And if they paid that $20 extra for just the transmog and didn’t care about the mount and free boost they got with that, just ask for a refund and go buy the basic.
If they were offering everyone real money refunds (not BNET balance) to go back down to the base edition, I think that would resolve this. But let’s see how many people get shut down because they already used the boost, or because they’re already using the included subscription month, or because (in just a few days) they’ve already unlocked DKs on every race.
Even if people ask for refunds, a lot are going to be denied.
Again, though, to all, HMU with an in-game mail and I’ll try to help you get this mount if you want it.
well they wouldn’t be honest in saying they only bought it for the transmog if they already used the boost anyway would they.
most people just wouldn’t be asking for refunds regardless - that boost and that mount for $20 extra is just too good a value for people who have the money. You are just kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
Mog was advertised as tied to the mount, which you get in the heroic version of the game. Not epic. Epic is only for 30 days game time, pet, hearthstone, and illusion.
And how is it intentionally misleading? The phrase says verbatim: “The flying mount grants a quest for the Vestments of the Eternal Traveler transmog set”. The mount does that.
Shockingly, just because it’s possible, doesn’t mean anyone will. Lawsuits cost money. Plus, no lawyers have to be contacted, all people have to do if they actually do have an issue with this is report Blizzard to the FTC.
It has been known since Blizzcon when this quest become available that you get 4-6 once a day (wow day, so 7 AM PDT to 7 AM PDT), and that is it at normal drop rates, not 100%, in my experience it’s ~5% for your first drop set. After that, it is always is, and always has been, 1 when they drop, at a substantially lower drop rate after you get your first chunk (numbers have been seen below 0.01%). This information has been on the most popular wow fan site since November 2nd. If you’re trying to grind this out, you are wasting your time, treat it like a daily that takes 10 days, and you’ll be much more satisfied.
I did not say guaranteed, I said you get 4-6 once a day at normal drop rates. Huge difference between those statements. After the first drop of 4-6, the drop rates lower, and you only get one at a time.
