Over the years this has happened many times, mostly tied to ilvl range and excluding a few types of loot/slots lately (tokens, jewelry). But the latest 2 nerfs have basically evaporated any value for a huge part of the loot pool below ilvl ~100. Sure the devs don’t want us feeling forced to grind old raids on multiple chars because it used to net 10k gold per hour or more. But now it’s a couple 100 lootgold for some raids and 2 bags of items with a combined worth of less than 20g.
Why did you take these drastic measures (2 times in a row)?
To clarify the first 10.0 reason for the low values was the rescaling of expansion rewards in terms of ilvls. Most raids went up from MC on but certain items just got stuck on their 8.0 itemsquish ilvls. And with the 2nd (Hotfix) change most vendor values (excluding tokens and jewelry) went down to like 30% making the low ilvl items even more worthless.

Yeah, it’s not even worth doing for gold anymore.
It’s like all of the solo activity fun is being sucked away little by little. Yes, that is me being hyperbolic in nature, but it’s how I’ve felt for the last several years.
I understand the need for nerfs, have to give newer parts of the game an economic boost to make it be the most viable option. However, it feels like farming old content is completely negated in terms of raw gold and materials as a means to make a nice chunk of change.
Sure, you can still sell transmog items, but even those are listing for less and less. I list every thing, have the Brutosaur mount and I struggle to make much gold doing old content anymore, with transmogs and selling old mats.
Just sucks the fun of it for me.
What can you do?

I really don’t, nerfing the easier ways to make gold only increases the disparity between the wealthier players and those who just get by on far less gold, new players in particular are completely outclassed in a lot of ways in this game and chief among those is the player wealth. Nerfing the gold value to vendor these items do little to combat inflation.

Depends, the outcome is quite scaleable given enough alts. And some will always outfarm you. If one source for gold stands out that much compared to others it will become the go-to and it’s per hour value starts to influence the overall amount in the economy by a lot. Afaik DF once again has some grey vendor sale items that deliver decent regular gold influx but you have to curb the outcome of fast and spammable trivial content every now and then. Soloing TBC and early Wrath 10man in late Cataclysm was enough to make 15k gold per week (in 6 hours) when it’s value was basically 20x higher than today.
Legacy has to be adjusted every once in a while otherwise it’s farming this for raw and easy gold or bust.
But: These nerfs are too much.

It seems that with the recent hotfixes the silver values or rather low itemlevels have been addressed and corrected. Farming won’t be the goldmine it was at times but at least it’s no longer next to nothing.
Thanks for fixing this!
