This affects you, how? Why is everyone on this forum so obsessed with what everyone else does or wants? Play the game and stop whining or just stop playing
you my friend are the 1%
I played Vanilla back in the day and relatively early in WoW’s life we had the same people crying for “new servers!” “fresh start!”. Due to high population on some servers, Blizzard did create new servers. I joined the game on one of those new servers. But what happened with them over time? The excitement of course faded and a whole lot of players that leveled up to 60 went back to their old servers to play their first main or whatever. Eventually, all of these newly/fresh servers turned low pop.
Once TBC launches, I’ll give it a few weeks then start checking which Classic Era servers have healthy populations, and start playing on them.
It can be fun, some times its nice to just go do some world PVP, you don’t even need the best gear to do it. On one of my rogues when I do BG’s now I have downgraded to T1 gear only. If it cant be had in Molten Core I don’t use it. This makes the games more interesting and I have to try harder to win single combat vs other players, and this for me is enjoyable.
Why you trolling bro?
I like classic and am here for classic. You can play to tbc.
Why do you care?
I may want to run level 60 raids and I am geared for it. Once TBC hits, those raids are pointless. I still haven’t run a full Naxx yet. So yeah, why not have the ability to keep my character and still have fun in that era?
I intend to move to TBC and to clone, I can have fun in both worlds.
The problem is that a forever classic server will barely get any new players. Nobody wants to play on a server where most people have their bis on 4 alts and are in the process of lvling a 5th. And by lvling I mean getting dungeon boosted by a mage for money. The world is empty and all forever classic servers will do is slowly but surely bleed populations.
A fresh restart of classic would allow you to experience the raids you missed just as well, only everyone starts fresh on even grounds. Azeroth will be populated again, maybe this time even without a screwed up economy.
Even after 2 years of retail soiling, those who just want vanilla are still a large %:

This poll began BEFORE the announcement of bundled subs, and avalanche of retailers. It was posted in both the retail forum and reddit group for fairness to all existing players and potential players. Anyone making claims that an overwhelming number want a specific version are flat out lying.
i’m part of the 1% and demand to be catered to.
DEMAND!
/pounds table with fist
It’s for legal reasons primarily, makes it easier to defend IP.
Any players is a nice bonus.
I don’t need new content constantly.
Pvp is the new content
Your entire premise is wrong
I want to keep my legendary ty. More like 50% want vanilla forever
It will be awkward being killed by people with epic flying and maxxed professions before I’m even 70.
Classic is probably 5% of the community and classic forever is 1% of that.
Blizzard just wants a sub for them and not a private server running out in the wild somewhere.
They are making money for doing nothing, just need to keep a server online.
The only question being asked is probably why they didn’t do it 5 years ago.
Classic is probably 30% and that will increase as SL continues to wither
They wont hurt anyone else are are effortless to do.
They can do both… They can make like a “Hall of Fame” server where all the old characters get transferred to and offer up fresh classic ‘seasons’ every year or two years to keep vanilla fresh for people who want it. I would enjoy playing vanilla again at some point in the future if they add new fresh servers.
I love all the percentages people throw out there…gtfo…
“VANILLA FOREVER REALMS ARE CATERING TO 1% OF PLAYERS”
“Classic is probably 30% and that will increase as SL continues to wither”
“Classic is probably 5% of the community and classic forever is 1% of that.”
“More like 50% want vanilla forever”
Which end of your body did you pull these numbers out of?
luckily for you theres this thing called transfer to tbc when 58
