In the last few weeks there has been a marked uptick in the amount of homophobic comments that I have seen in chat. I also was kicked from a guild when a member made a homophobic comment and an officer immediately typed “^^^^^^^^^” after in support of said comment, and I responded, “I’m gay and I can tell you that not cool guys.” I was immediately kicked by the officer and ignored when I tried to reach out to the guild leader on discord. This has never happened to me in the game and I’ve played since Vanilla. Trade chat has become a festering pool of hate. This seems to be particularly bad on the anniversary servers. Maybe I’m oversensitive, but I think something needs to give.

100% true. Reported both and they haven’t been on since the report. It was real for them. Honestly this gaslighting is amazing. You guys should sell propane and natural gas. And anyone who knows me, knows I’m not sensitive. People just saying the word gay doesn’t offend me, it’s homophobic slurs that are intended to degrade simply out of ignorance that upsets me.

I dont think its changed much since vanilla. Truly the only real and unfortunate difference is the shortage of Chuck Norris jokes.

This sort of rhetoric is the reason there is a new general dislike for gays in general. Worlds aren’t violence and gay people need to toughen up.
I’m also gay and nothing in chat ever bothers me, because I don’t let it. Many in our communities are disassociating ourselves from the rainbow for this reason.

So you need to stay in your own lane. I have a right to say what I want to say. I am normally not sensitive about this type of stuff, but blatantly offensive words, such as the F word that doesn’t mean fornicate, do upset me, because there is nothing playful or unintentional about them. If that doesn’t bother you, great, but it’s not going to save you from the bigots, because in the end they don’t care if you agree with them or not, it’s that you’re different, that’s the part they don’t like. And to everyone that says making this thread means I’m sensitive, let me point out, that emotional regulation and being able to recognize unhealthy behavior and call people out on it, does not make me sensitive, it just makes you insensitive.

This is the world we live in today. It’s quite sickening, but such people are on the rise; especially on the internet where there are no consequences. It’s why I largely keep to myself.
