Huh, no we can’t. Farming a rare on Timeless Isle was fine. Huolon, for example, spawned in the exact same spot every time, every 30 to 75 minutes. Even though his mount isn’t a guaranteed drop, farming him was pleasant and easy.
Your ability to ignore what people are saying and discuss what you want is admirable. If only it was an admirable quality.
Your ability to think your opinion is fact and anyone that disagrees with you is wrong is ad-- LOL no, I can’t say that even to be snarky. It’s just sad.
I don’t buy this.
I ride my Rivendares Deathcharger from time to time. Same for my Raven Lord. Same for my Netherwing Drakes. And I’ll say this as bluntly as I can. Netherwing Drakes are among the most dated mounts we have, as far as appearances. But by golly, I still love those mounts.
Most of my mounts I just add to Favorites and use the “Summon Favorite” since I like a lot of the mounts, regardless of age. While I’ll fully acknowledge some people won’t use old mounts, others prefer them. They have a special charm about them.
Every rare on Timeless Isle was like 30-60 minutes, perhaps slightly more, sometimes slightly less. But almost every rare spawned in a certain spot or area, the outliers being things like the Death Adders or Spineclaw crabs which could spawn in place of any snake or crabs that had been killed. I’ll also admit a lot of the rares had low drop items, but that was fine. It worked with the Timeless Isle because of how the respawns were.
Just like the items from Nazjatar rares work because everything has a 30-60 minute respawn, with two exceptions. The Hydra rares(which are 1-3 hour respawns), still aren’t horrible though. And Soundless. A 2-8 hour respawn, about a dozen spawn locations where at the best spot, you can only cover about 70% of the locations, and the mount is a sub 1% drop. That is A LOT different than Huolon.
Rustfeather and Arachnoid Harvester can be considered like Huolon. One spawn spot, low drop chance for the mount. Soundless is in a weird spot. It’s like a combination of the other rares and Time Lost Proto Drake/Aeonnax. But unfortunately that combo doesn’t work too well.
Sub 1% mount? Cool, decrease the spawn timer a bit to make it more inline with the other rares. Long respawn? Cool, increase the drop chance to make it more inline with TLPD/Aeonnax.
The part you’re confusing is you think “opinions are just opinions, we all have opinions.” They’re not.
I had a great teacher who explained this point when a student said something weak and backed it up with “well, that’s my opinion.”
She explained that "You can have the OPINION that Kilmer’s poem ‘Trees’ is about rockets. And you’d be wrong. You can have an ‘opinion’ all you want… but you have to back it up with something. You have to have logic, reason, and an application of critical thought to FORM that opinion, otherwise it is not valid. You can’t just ‘have an opinion.’ "
Similarly, you’re hammering away in this thread against me trying to desperately assert that “Trees” is about rockets because “that’s your opinion”, while I’m trying to explain how “Trees” is about … trees… and your response is just that “I don’t have any facts.”
My position is self-evident. I’ve made a claim and backed it up. I’m part of the collecting community. I have 400+ mounts and just under 1000 unique pets. My “opinion” is from a point of authority and bears the greater portion of what facts a rational person could agree upon.
Come back when you understand that “Trees” is about… trees.
It’s an extrapolation that BEGAN in Timeless Isle. I thought this was such an obvious point it didn’t need explaining.
But this thread is special it seems…
I have 491 mounts and 1160 unique pets so by your logic I’m more of an authority than you.
But your inability to reason proves you aren’t. It happens.
Example: Are we now going to argue that BfA is a “great expansion!” because some people do, in fact, like it?
So I met your criteria and passed it for an “authority position” but now it’s not good enough. Got ya.
No because I don’t want to talk about that.
Rivendare’s was increased??
By analogy, you have a doctorate in English, you attend literary conferences, but you still think “Trees” is about rockets. So while you have more credentials than I do in one aspect (I didn’t verify your claim, but I have no reason you’d lie about something so easily verifiable), you still refuse to apply some basic logic and reason.
There’s a short word for that: stubborn.
Yeah it went from being 0.1% to just 1% I believe.
Time to add to my farm list. =P
Again though, you can’t blame such a wildly different rare type on an aspect of a previous expansion that had nothing even remotely similar.
I think Blizzard wanted to try something new with Soundless, so they decided to combine aspects of rares like TLPD/Aeonnax(long respawn and some variance in that respawn) with rares from zones like Timeless Isle and Tanaan Jungle(low drop rates and consistent respawns but some variance).
It sounds nifty in theory but unfortunately just doesn’t work.
And…really my dude? You really said

I have 400+ mounts and just under 1000 unique pets. My “opinion” is from a point of authority and bears the greater portion of what facts a rational person could agree upon.
Well, earlier you said you knew for a FACT!, so at least now it’s your opinion so we’ve made some progress.
But I don’t think you have any room to say “Cause I have Ax1000 and Bx400 so I have the power!” when Tovi and I both outclass you in the collection aspect. So by your logic, we outrank your authority, no?

There’s a short word for that: stubborn.
Yes, I’m very stubborn. I won’t ever agree with you on mount drop percentages. That doesn’t make me wrong and you right, no matter what crazy analogies you come up with.

It’s a FACT that people aren’t using certain mounts, not because of their supposed rarity or lack of it (1% or 0.1%) but because THEY’RE OLD.
I used Rivendares the other day, I summoned it to stand next to another guy that was riding it. Your FACT just fell apart. The only FACT is that its old (and really it’s only old to someones thats had it a long time). Its still cool.

would that reeeeeally be a terrible thing? Would everyone suddenly get Invincible overnight? Or even Ur’zul?
Whether or not it’s a bad thing is irrelevant. They’re not going to up it because collections is part of the core game at this point. Blizzard isn’t going to make it easier for folks to collect things.
They are doing everything in their power to make everything harder, take longer and be more RNG dependent just to push the subs…
Blizzard is not going to increase the drop rates for old raid mounts. If you want a high chance at a raid mount get into a current raid and go get them. Blizzard almost always gives one mount a higher chance rate for the dedicated raiders when it’s in the current teir. If you want a older raid mount get a army of alts and get after it. I’m now taking 10 120 toons in to Kara every week trying to get Midnight for example.
Where did you get 0.1% drop rate for old raid mounts. Its mostly agreed that most old raid mounts have a roughly 1% drop rate with a few exceptions. My experience can back those numbers as I usually get the raid mounts I’m after in the 1-150 kill range with Invincible being the only one over the 300 kill mark. I’m not including stuff like the MoP bosses as I put them in their own special category.
Island Mounts be looking at you and laughing.
