I recently upgraded from a ryzen 3600 and an rx 6600 to a ryzen 5700x 3d and a 7700 xt. I still have my original EVGA 650 good psu powering it. Is that good enough in the long run, or should I upgrade? I want to make sure things continue running as intended. Any help is appreciated.
Should be fine. 5700X3D is a 105W (maximum 141W) chip and the 7700 XT is 245W total. Combined (though it will be extremely rare that you push both to their limits at the same time) they’re not that much over half your PSU’s rated output, leaving plenty of overhead for the rest of the system as well (which is probably gonna be under 100W).
short run - you will be around 350w total system power when gaming so any decent 650w unit will handle that
long run - really depends on the exact model evga 650w as they put out a lot of various lines from various OEMs that included 650w units. Some really good, some decent, some rather mediocre. Along with how long you have been using that unit.
