Meh. Keep Classic Classic. The graphics didn’t make the game then and they won’t make it now. Spend time updating the graphics for BFA/Retail. We need dem textures updated son! lol.
Dude, stop complaining. We finally have a slice of pie that isn’t retail. If you want pretty graphics, you wouldn’t be playing WoW in the first place.
Are you dumb or just stupid?
I wasn’t complaining. Thanks for your interesting input
No
I’d prefer 2004 graphics for classic. The entire point behind classic is to have it be as close to a vanilla experience as possible. What we, as players, saw and cognitively understood with our own vision is a huge part of that. If I saw BFA models / graphics in classic, it wouldn’t be classic to me. Classic is about “going home” as the devs put it. Throwing on a flashy new coat of paint in your house changes the feeling of home.
HOW ABOUT NO
Haha no, the reason some of us at retail are glad Classic is out, is classic people will stop complaining about us wanting graphics updates.
So, retail than?
Graphics aren’t that important when you’re playing a top-down RTS. Warcraft 3’s models were cutting edge at the time, but a lot of them were just blocky polygons and stretchy textures. The only important thing was that each unit had to be immediately identifiable in the midst of a massive melee.
WoW is a game where you play a single character immersed in a massive world you experience from a 1st or 3rd person perspective. How everything looks is a huge deal for me, and it’s one of the biggest reasons why I just can’t get into classic. The WoD overhauls were massive improvements to the game’s aesthetic imo.
Nope. Classic is fine just the way it is. If you want current graphics play retail
You could always crank the graphics up to 10.
Sadly, you can’t crank them to 11, because they don’t have an 11
If you want the classic experience, you get the classic graphics. Just as it should be. If it was a “remaster”, that would be completely different.
No. The retail models are worse than the ones in classic.
… I never really know what to say to statements like that.
I guess… I mean… Do you really look at a 15 year old 12 polygon gopher and think ‘nailed it!’. Or an orc’s so low polygon they painted the teeth on their lips?
I know a lot of people regard modern graphics as more… cartoonish. So you might dislike the bigger eyes etc. But the sheer skill the creators have, the tools they use, the experience they’ve gained working on games for decades - it all shows. And when people point to 2004 as the high point of art I kind of wince.
If nothing else its a disservice to the incredibly talented artists working to improve their craft expansion by expansion.
Not the same people I think.
The updated graphical models look worse to me than the original wow ones. You can view that as the updates are worse, that I have a different opinion than you, but I can guarantee I’m not the only one who thinks that the 2004 models are better than the current ones. Humans in particular look worse imo.
People spent years playing an archaic version of warcraft on pirate servers because they said this was the game of their lives!
Now they want to have the retail benefits delivered to classic!
Well, as it is, I would play the classic, if there were flying mounts for my use, if I could collect pets and play as a worgen!
But since this is something that only exists in retail, I will continue in retail!
Bringing something from retail to classic is like people who claims to be a camper but wants to stay in the comfort of a hotel!
The graphics are a huge part of what makes Classic, Classic. They should not be replaced because you’d lose a huge part of the feel of that original world.
If you want cutting edge graphics, you have plenty of other options out there.
One of the first things I saw in classic gen chat was “anyone amazed how good this all looks?”
So your opinion is one, someone else’s is another. It looks fine to me too.
I suggested this as well. Client-side graphics overhaul.
Insipid #nochanges people jumped down my throat and maintain that Retail is fully available.
Very narrow minded.
