Upcoming Tank Tuning - March 30

Shattered Souls was also bugged, so the fix will be a sizable nerf to VDH healing which will likely be more than the 5% physical buff.

No they’re not. In fact they still get wrecked like any other tanks, its their mobility that makes them more viable
why do u think they’re constantly backing away while dps/healer are aoeing

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Signed: Blood Death Knight who caused too many healers too many head aches

Honestly the magic damage reduction changes feel weird to me.
I get that VDH was experiencing a bug and that is fine, however the changes increase all tanks magic damage reduction by 10% whilst nerfing VDH by the same which honestly doesn’t make sense.

VDH has Demonic Wards as a passive magic damage reduction which is meant to be a unique feature of the VDH and Demon Hunters in general.

The current changes address the bug intending to bring VDH passive magic damage reduction back to their intended effect which is fine, but then all other tanks are buffed to have passive magic damage reduction as well.

This completely undermines Demonic Wards as a Demon Hunter skill as now all tanks essentially get the same passive reduction, only for everyone but VDH it is ontop of their actual tanking mechanics instead of being a specific design consideration, so whilst VDH had design costs implicit of having that passive reduction (one would hope that is how classes are designed at least) these all classes simply get it as a bonus.

I don’t disagree that VDH is overly dominant at the moment, but a lot of that has been to do with their ability to generate snap threat, especially from range as well as their ability to kite and avoid damage completely.
It basically takes the core defensive design of VDH down to “has demon spikes and heals from soul cleave”

Ah yes, as a Rogue tank, I’ll finally be viable. Tired of people yelling at me because I’m dying while pulling mobs. Like, its not my fault, Rogue tanks have needed buffs for a while now.

Thanks, Blizzard!

It doesn’t

The adjustment will just prevent DH from getting the double magic damage reduction from whatever bug that was.

In addition to this they are adding a 10% overall damage reduction to the other tank passives and 5% to DH on to bring the tanks closer to each other as well.

but everyone is picking vengeance

Really it just unnerfs DKs back to where they were before they started screwing with Vet.

I can’t hate DH and want them to fix Blood at the same time.

Don’t you mean
Collective Anguish?

Now can you guys remove class buffs so that tanks can play what they want to play, and not whatever raid buff the raid can’t get because xxxxx dps spec is doing poorly?

Which just reverts it to baseline what it should be

Which essentially just gives them Demonic Wards.

Hence my objection.
They essentially just fixed the bug and then gave every other class Demonic Wards making it 100% non-unique anymore.

As I said, I don’t disagree that the other tanks needed propping up and VDH needed taking down and the bug fixing, but giving their unique passive to all tanks just really stinks of homogenisation and poor design application.

You have a Demonic Wards, and you have a Demonic Wards, and you have a Demonic Wards.
Demonic Wards for everyone!!!

wards will be 20% baseline and everyone else is getting a flat reduction because it is easier to balance

let’s not act like flat damage reduction is unique tho. flat % reduction has been a on and off thing for many tanks for forever

Disc priest m+ buff when?

How backwards is this?

Maybe y’all should wait to release the next major patch (i.e. 9.1 season 2) until you fix the current problems giving the UNDERPERFORMING classes a chance to participate in the current season.

Honestly RIDICULOUS, that months into the expansion, how broken and unbalanced the game still is. Fix the bugs, then release new content. Blizzard releases content so fast it’s shoddily developed, rife with issues, and then left behind for new rushed content.

No, VDH got 5% increase across the board to demonic wards

which means an additional 5% magic and 5% physical damage reduction, for a total of 10% “total” damage reduction.

Other thanks got just a flat 10% damage reduction period.

So VDH still kinda like the red headed step child

Demonic is 15% magic damage, everyone else now has 10%.

I’m not saying that damage reduction in of itself is unique, however Demonic Wards is a deliberate thematical passive that Demon Hunters have due to their tattoos which emphasise and tell the player “this tank deals well with enemy casters”.

Considering the whole Burning Legion and Fel magic thing this makes it a big for DHs and expressing what they are.

It’s basically the equivalent of giving every class the ability to use a shield or having meta be a permant form like Druid’s Guardian Form.

It all makes sense when you realize “bugs” are intentional and part of the time gating process to keep you invested.

Most tanks should have already rolled DH by now.

Most casters should be mages and melee dps should be hunters.

Healers should be Shamans and that’s it.

They don’t like alts anymore. They prefer you to just have a rotating main schedule.

Next patch it will be a different comp of broken/working classes depending on how you look at it. Meaning, new opportunities to experience the game fresh with a new class.

Stop trying to play your favorite class every expansion. Right now this is World of DemonHunterBoomkinFireMageMMHunterRestoShaman Craft.

If you really want to just be a class that always shines be a druid. They always have at least one spec in FOTM.

Next season will be RestoDruid/ProtWar/DemoLock/SurvHunter/WWMonk/boomkin fotm comp.

If you really want content then you gotta follow the path. All you people wanting to play other classes are the problem. Hoe can you expect Blizzard to balance all the classes at the same time. That means they would have to hire people and keep them long enough to understand classes enough in order to make them better.

What kindsa greedy expectations will you set next? Blizzard offering you free gifts for supporting them for 30 years? Get real.

I mean I’ve read some amusing tin foil theories in the past, but this has the be most out there.

Next we’ll be hearing about Blizzard’s involvement with Area 52 and the concealment of extra terrestrials.
