I guess with scaling your progression can somehow feel invalidated. Take the current world for example, as enemies level with you through the classic zones up to 60. Leveling doesn’t mean anything since enemies level with you.
The intent was to keep content relevant through that expansion. Now it’s to keep content relevant through all expansions… except…
I dungeon level. A lot. At least for a veteran player like myself who has done quests over and over. I wish to not return to that.
But what if you’re a new player? How does it feel to a new player when all of the sudden you’ve outleveled a zone completely, and enemies become grey to you? On the one hand, it feels amazing being an all powerful demigod, but on the other hand, it gets boring super fast. Like entering a Game Genie code for infinite power or something like that.
The ultimate goal is to maintain balance and find a line between fun and challenge.
I enjoy leveling toons. It’s what I do the most out of this game.
