Horde doesn’t have to take Quarry or Refiniery
If you use chat and explain it, then its the Hordes fault if they take them
We sometimes have 5 pugs with us. They will retake Quarry/Refinery, and you get a 2nd chance to NOT TAKE THEM.
Nobody is “allowing” Horde to do anything. Horde is choosing to retake those nodes.
Horde is ALLOWING the game to go on forever, by not rezzing.
(*in all IoC games tonight, Horde rezzed in waves of 3-15 at the Reserve Graveyard. And all of the games ended in a reasonable amount of time – so I don’t mean to besmirch all Horde players. Please don’t take it that way)
I try to explain this through in game chat and get called a spy and angry whispers, which is absolutely hilarious. I was debating taking the Quarry that last IoC game just to get back at those making false accusations against me, but I had faith someone else would and my faith was well rewarded
Actually there would be a call that would ask “someone please take the Quarry or refinery” to keep the reinforcements up. Once this was reported Archaoesrex stopped asking during stream. Im sure its more under wraps now. Clever group but still there isnt any effort to win until certain marks are reached so I suppose that would be griefing Idk. Devs may see it differently as others do. I guess if anything is done or not done then the judgement will be what it is. So far there doesnt seem to be an issue with the way they are making the BG last longer. That is what I see so (shrug).
Overall the changes are good and the Epic BGs feel far better especially Ashran has been the most fun. Just epic back and forth battles.
The Siege maps continue to be the black mark on BGs and haven’t been able to get them right which is why players blacklisted Strand of Ancients. The problem is players want to PvP not Player vs Siege.
The issue is their damage and got hit for 100% of my HP by one when I took a 69K hit today in Isle. The way we fix these BGs is by making Sieges used only for destruction of Towers or Walls not running over the other team. They should do minimum dmg to a player which then will inspire PvP around the Sieges instead of killing players with them.
Also it appears that Siege dmg is just too modified by other factors like debuffs or even players that play Tanks take more dmg in PvP so are they most venerable instead of being the most sturdy like intended. No one wants to be 1 shot by a Siege from a mile away. It feels really bad and is uninspiring.
Sieges should do 1-2k dmg, players then should tactically plan to PvP better around them.
I mean our characters are have slayed Death wing, the Lich king, Old gods, Titans but a tiny tank destroys us? That doesn’t make sense.
Please greatly reduce Siege damage so these BGs can be about PvP and strat. Or allow us to black list Siege maps like we did for Strands.
The main problem is they never fixed the “first teamfight at SR determines the winner” aspect of Wintergrasp. Otherwise the map might be somewhat tolerable.
You are right though, player-versus-vehicle just isn’t a fun format to most players.
The only reason we don’t see as much of a negative reaction to Isle of Conquest is it’s only a small handful of vehicles there instead of the absurd 20-24 vehicles in Wintergrasp.
It’s barely PvP when one side has full control of the map and is steamrolling with 20-24 vehicles, at that point the game has devolved into player-versus-vehicles.
I mean a lot of us just want no part of it. When I see a vehicle or Siege I run away because I’m not attacking that thing, it does too much damage and gets in the way of PvP. So I spend the BG looking for PvP away from the Sieges. Personally rather just blacklist them or they can just stop having Sieges do damage to players.
I don’t get why it’s hard to make Sieges just do 1-2k dmg to players or none at all and be used for only Tactically winning the map to destroy Tower/Walls then you have great PvP around them.
Because to compensate, players would also have to deal zero damage to vehicles, something that would eventually draw the ire of players who would ask for the change to be reverted.
I personally hate siege maps as well. The only time I ever liked them is when they were current, in their respective expansions and factions actually controlled those zones locally, on their respective realms. Rivalries were made, and it deepened the feel of community on the server.
Once they were made into battlegrounds, they just became an annoying mess.
In my opinion, Each expansion should introduce a few new active Epic BG/siege maps unique to that expansion that players fight on individual realms fight for control over once per week, like it used to be.
Just one persons opinion tho, I just think they lack any importance in BG form. They are too long and too much of a hassle with zero impact on the individual realms they are supposed to be simulating.
That’s because that’s a player psychology issue, not necessarily a map-imbalance issue.
The ONLY reason the first teamfight matters so much is because people THINK it matters so much.
So, if we (Offense) get pushed back, people will start leaving, thinking it’s gonna be a loss. The backfillers will not be able to build vehicles without another teamfight.
Now, if “few” people leave, Offense can usually still win pretty easily, but if 10+ people leave, it’s gonna be very difficult for Offense to win.
Vehicle attacks are all % based, so even if they crit, they can’t one-shot you (I don’t think there is a vehicle that deals more than 50% health in one hit any more). And % based attacks aren’t modified by multipliers, it will always be x%.
Agree. Sadly it requires Blizzard intervention to try to curb… which means if we’re lucky we’ll see some tweaks in 2023.
Well you would be wrong. They do multipliers and it’s very sad when this happens getting in the way of PvP. I didn’t screen shot it as it wasn’t unusual. Obviously there are several modifiers being applied and it’s broken. So I run away from all Siege battles and try to fight somewhere else to find PvP.
I want to highlight this part, because a vehicle shouldn’t do more than 1% of someone’s health. Just make the broken Siege dmg stop or give us black listing. These maps are atrocious and it makes people either leave or fight on the roads away from Sieges because they want no part of it.
Sub runs out today, was trying to make gold to maybe keep going on and also playing TBC. Not sure though if I’ll do that. I quit in Jan. and this was the first time I did BGs since then and while Ashran and AV are a lot better there is still massive amounts wrong with the game.
So I’ll just likely let my Sub run out and check back again in another 6 month. We’ll see, I’m just not into having to do M+ or Raiding to get the PvP gear I need. Which is another bummer. The PvP gear scaling system makes things worse for me not better since the PvP gear is terrible.
We still got a lot of changes that need to happen. Hopefully with everything going on Blizz can still move in the right direction.
No, I’m afraid you’re mistaken. An attack that deals 40% of maximum health will always deal 40% of maximum health (unless it crits - which I don’t think vehicles should be able to do).
At any rate, I have long had the belief that vehicles deal too much damage to players. I disagree to the extent of reducing it to meaningless damage - tanks should hurt, but I think right now some of them deal too much.
This just isn’t true and please just let Sieges do 1% of a players Health so we can PvP.
I have been 1 shot by Sieges which did 100% of my HP and today in this picture got hit with a 38k boulder which stopped the PvP I was in. FYI as you can see in the picture it’s 59% of my HP. I don’t think I should have to bubble everytime I see a Siege because i’ll get one shot or nuked. It feels bad and makes me just auto leave every Siege map.
This isn’t even remotely close to true. Damage reduction and multipliers do in fact work against % health damage. I understand the mechanics of the game extremely well.
Been doing some Epics and see that Sieges are still extremely broken this is a Screenshot of my disappointment above when my PvP was interrupted by a broken Siege. If I get stuck in more Siege maps and don’t leave instantly I’ll provide more as the damage has been way higher than the one I just took.
I’ve never been one-shotted by a vehicle, usually it’s 2-3 shotted.
Of course, these unfun vehicle maps feature a lot of “splash” damage from said vehicles… maybe that’s what happened to you?
I can see a bunch of “splash” damage landing around you in a teamfight, and that could look like a one-shot… when really it was just multiple demolisher cannon shots impacting at around the same time.
The other possibility, besides the “splash damage” explanation, is you got critted by a vehicle cannonball. I can see such a crit chunking someone for 60-70% of their healthbar - and if you were in the middle of a teamfight maybe you were already hovering around 60-70% health just from residual teamfight damage.
No it’s just 1 direct hit which is reflected in the recount image. Also yes they are unfun, I just complain non stop when I get them in chat till I leave or we lose. These BGs are so toxic and if they can’t further fix them at least give us Blacklisting of 2 BGs so we can Blacklist both Siege maps.
This also isn’t ok. A Siege shouldn’t be killing anyone in a BG. They should be utilized to destroy walls and other Sieges. Their damage to players should be non existent to promote healthy PvP and tactics around them.
Obviously this shouldn’t be happening. As I said damage multipliers or crits should be removed from Sieges. It would be easier if instead of % HP they just have Sieges do 1k physical and 1k fire damage.
I just /afked out of WG so did most of our team. We appreciate the work that has been done so far but we are a long way from making the Siege maps playable or fun. Please do something about the broken damage. Please make Siege damage against players 1k so PvP happens around the Sieges instead of one team rolling over the other team so they all leave. It’s not fun nor will it ever be fun.
Furthermore I don’t want to use a Siege to kill another player. I got PvP gear and gearing up for a reason right? I want to use my character and gear to PvP. This is why Strands was so unpopular. Killing a player with a Siege feels wrong, using a Siege to complete an objective feel right.
