Until what level in Wrath will TBC phase 5 bis gear last?

10 man naxx def worth doing then.

I was holding too much stock in “ilvl”.

item quality still affects item budget in wrath. a blue 200 caster wep has 355 spellpower, an epic 200 caster wep has 408 spellpower.

Yea I didn’t take that into account.

Thanks, lots of good info. Sounds like a lot will be replaced by mid 70s, but some pieces can still be used until I get the pre-bis.

Spirit is actually pretty solid for Fire Mage which is what I’m going right from the gate.

I believe it gets turned into crit with Glyph of Molten Armor.

20% of spirit into crit rating or something.

Even tho arcane will be better in Naxx because low fire scaling, still going fire…

Can’t be stopped!

You’ll easily take SWP items all the way to lvl80, particularly if you have access to any number of JC’s. The green-quality gems of Wrath are better than the epic-quality gems of TBC, meaning all those triple and double socket gear pieces from SWP can be amplified even further.

Weapons, trinkets, and to a lesser extent jewelry will be the fastest to replace since ilvl determines so much for a weapon and Wrath just hands us flatly amazing trinkets even while leveling.

I absolutely Tanked entry lvl80 dungeons on my Druid still using 2-3 pieces of SWP gear, and I wasn’t BiS in the slightest.

Naxx10 Tier legs for Feral, req lvl80:
494 Armor
73 Agility
90 Stamina
51 Crit
37 Exp
138 AP
2 Sockets

BoE Leather, Leggings of Violent Exsanguination, req lvl77:
404 Armor
50 Agility
51 Stamina
40 Exp
106 AP

Leggings of the Immortal Beast, req lvl70, from SWP:
436 Armor
56 Strength
46 Agility
66 Stamina
25 Intellect
27 ArP
3 Sockets

The extra socket in Immortal Beast lets you almost shore up the difference in either Agility or Stamina from Naxx10, especially if you use a green-quality cut Wrath gem. The AP difference is very tiny, especially in Bear (26 AP before any talents or Kings). The real winner is the fact that Naxx10 gear has so much in terms of secondary ratings, but there’s just no reason you couldn’t waltz right into Naxx10 or Naxx25 in nearly full SWP gear and just go no problem.

Even the Heroic 5man leggings aren’t that crazy better because unlike the tier gear, no sockets at all or if it has sockets it has greatly diminished other stats, and only a single secondary.

The ilvl200 stuff is definitely better, especially the epics, but the blue quality stuff is roughly where you’re supposed to be before doing Heroics and stepping into the raids and well… the SWP stuff is more or less right there in terms of power.

I think I only kept 2 or 3 pieces of my raid gear until 80. I recall my neck being replaced by a blue quest reward from Borean Tundra. The Torch of the Damned was replaced by a blue axe (chain quest reward, lvl 73’ish?)

I tanked Mag in p1 on my warrior in most of my T3 set and gear with just a few extra items for some stam and defense. Sunwell gear will, more or less, not make it past lvl 76 with some items replaced MUCH earlier. Glaives would get replaced with a lvl 76 blue

Honestly, gold is the only thing that will last. Most people will hit 80 in the first week and replace their gear, but that 20,000 you didn’t spend on gdkp stuff will hold you well into 80.

BT, Hyjal, and Sunwell gear will last into Naxx. Naxx 25 is the equivalent of Karazhan in terms of difficulty. People cleared kara in Classic gear. Naxx will be cleared in sunwell gear.

I think most if not all will be replaced by 80 but think there’s a few sets where the 2 piece is still useable at 80.

Most KJ loot will last until 80 and some set bonuses from the Sunwell T6 might be worth keeping until Naxx gear. Here’s a KJ helm comparison with an ilvl 200, level 80 blue, they’re virtually identical in total stats:
