Unsubscribing Again - I Really Tried

After quitting for a year with no intention of returning, I made an arbitrary decision to resubscribe for a month because I needed to download WoW for another application, but I suffered the same problems with the game that drove me away before. Boring quests. Stupid storyline. Obnoxious enemy mechanics and quotes such as the excruciatingly grating voices of basically every boss in Plageufall, as well as their mechanics. Absolutely garbage PvP development. Having to replay the entire expansion pack on each alt if I want to play them. The shameful and pathetic development behind loot drops and reward systems like the vault and Torghast. Classes being boring and monotonous leapfrog sessions, considering they were pruned to lobotomite levels and have not changed in over six years. I tried to get back into the game, but when every single aspect of game is an excruciatingly painful experience, it creates a growing pile of frustration and anger that causes rapid acceleration to an inevitable breaking point. And I just reached that again today, after three weeks playing on and off. Three. Weeks.

Shadowlands has been, without a second thought needed, the worst gaming experience in my entire life, by universes. I am not exaggerating when I say I have zero compliments for this expansion. Unless the new expansion reveal is going to overshadow Starfield and the anticipated announcement of Elder Scrolls 6 sometime in the next 200,000 years, I won’t be coming back to this game.

Goodbye! Thanks for playing…and um, as for “Having to replay the entire expansion pack on each alt”

That’s kind of what every expansion does. TBC, Wrath, Cata, MoP-BFA. What were you expecting?

I just leveled a new alt and I skipped korthia and covenant campaigns at max.

Premax, 1st runthrough IS a pain, But like others said you have to do that every expansion

No, they absolutely didn’t. I could dungeon and quest in the designated zones to max level, and then jump straight into PvP without having to complete an entire campaign just to unlock power systems that my class is built around. I leveled and geared each and every class before Legion, and had some duplicates for Alliance. When I started PvE’ing in Legion, I had several characters I geared in Mythic Keystones and PvP with. I didn’t need to worry about a covenant campaign to unlock soulbinds, or about obtaining those soulbinds. I didn’t need to do another campaign or progress in it to unlock legendary crafting in Torghast. I never had to run two hours of twisting corridors just end up getting nothing because I died on floor 17/18. The previous expansions are not even remotely similar to this one, and to pretend like the structures were in any way similar is completely absurd.

Don’t they have a text box for you to fill out when you unsub? Why are you posting this here?

Yeah man this isn’t true.

If you joined at the end of Legion, which is the equivalent of you coming back here at 9.2, you absolutely would’ve had to catch up on all of the non-pvp progress to be competitive. You aren’t doing mid to high pvp or M+ without unlocking that legendary, through the story campaign, and then farming the Artifact Power. Maybe your experience was different because you were playing at the beginning of Legion on equal footing instead of showing up at the end of expansion and expecting not to play a little catch up.

What does Twisted Corridors have to do with this? Its optional flavor content with no power based reward at all, doesn’t reward you if you fail?

I too want rewards from achievements I haven’t completed, but imagine complaining about it out loud…

You don’t need to do those in this expansion. You can skip the entire quest zones after finishing them on one character. You can also jump straight into PvP, that’s what I did. You can buy gear on the AH to quickly get ready for end level content.

You sound like you just hate the gameplay itself and that’s fine if that’s you. But that is the game. The covenant system has a lot of catchup mechanics now and it’s fairly fast. Next patch, the covenant renown will start at 60 instead of 40 for alts.

You sound like you just want to blast through without the work. Idk why you’re complaining about it here. See you later!

I’m old enough to remember when this was a new game:

So I can’t agree with this one sentence from your post. Everything else… yep. You’re spot on.

The melodrama on these forums never ceases to amaze me.

You don’t like a game? Don’t play it. Jesus.

Instead of swearing off WoW for good, take a break. Don’t quit. Rest.

I’m not sure but I think there’s something on the un sub form that suggests giving feedback on the forums.

The official 2600 version of Pac Man is one of the worst version there ever was. However, there is a homebrew 2600 version of Pac Man that is pretty nice.

People don’t seem to understand that WoW’s gameplay is really outdated at this point.

The only folks who are going to invest are the whales.

Us average folk, or the “been there, done that” crowd have already moved on. Shadowlands has been written off as a loss for us. Casuals didn’t get anything good, only higher end players. See how alive this game will be without any casual players to fill out the population. It’s bad enough already.

I’ve got 7 days left myself. No interest in grinding out better gear just to be able to play normally. Can’t touch PvP without legendaries, same deal with Mythics and raids. If only you could obtain them easily without having to devote hours into world quests for gold or buying a WoW token.

Can’t tank because you need to know routes, not even going to bother.

WoW was good in the past. I’m not even sure who it’s for anymore, aside from proud spending whales.

Doing World Quests isn’t fun. You know what is fun? Deep Rock Galactic, Elden Ring, and Mario Kart. I’d rather play those, and so I will.

How do you come to that conclusion after I just told you I leveled every class and them some to max, geared them in PvP and then some in PvE when Mythic Keystones came up in Legion?

You’re not understanding my complaint. I leveled new alts during Legion and had no problem running through the class order hall campaigns, getting artifact power, and doing several class mount runs which I got on at least eight characters. The problem is how painfully boring Shadowlands questing is.

Where in my post did I say I wanted rewards without having to do the work? Just asking so I know what to edit out since that doesn’t reflect the way I played the game.

I could use the same argument against you and say that if you don’t like the thread, don’t engage with it. There is no “melodrama” here. I’m giving feedback just like the unsubscription tab suggests I do, so have a good day.
