You realize what you quoted me saying…was a quote? Maybe respond to the person who said that? My response was clearly making fun of that statement…
But I did because it was easy. The change was welcome because it changed the robotic pace of how I traveled. And honestly trying to twist it back at me by saying that I have a LACK of alts is kinda dumb. Most of the people that are griping about this change has a specific reason and a specific portal they are whining about.
The people who like the grind do not consider it tedious. (I love leveling, which is something many folks consider both tedious and a grind.)
Traveling is not a “grind” because you, the player, are doing absolutely nothing while waiting for a boat or taking a taxi. You are, in fact, simply wasting time that could be better spent on whatever “grind” you were traveling toward.
Making it take longer to get places in no way helps players enjoy the game they logged on to play. In my case, it only encourages me to log off and find something more engaging to do.
Ayyy, yeah it was, and now it’s like it’s more difficult for everyone to get around the game, and for what reason? Again, taking way things is not a solution to a problem that wasn’t made a problem until Blizzard made it one.
Exactly. It’s dumb just like your statement was. Because we have two entirely different playstyles and you tried to claim that I said everyone did. Here’s the thing. Not once did I do so.
I get that the change is welcome to you. I don’t care, just like how you don’t care about my utter annoyance at this happening. I’m going to keep feeling this way and speaking up regardless.
And I’m only speaking for myself. No one else. If a ton agree with me? Perhaps I’m onto something. But once again, I’m pointing out my playstyle.
Also, I saw the “get over yourself” nonsense. I’ll shoot that right back at you since once again, the portals being there had no affect upon you. Just like flying, LFR, pet battles, and anything else, if you don’t like it, don’t use it.
And it’s news to me that we’re no longer allowed to talk about how we play and express displeasure at changes that affect it.
Instead adding a new actual robotic pace that we affectionately call “flight paths”?
Kind of as dumb as your initial point? No, obviously not everyone has 20 alts they farm on, kind of ridiculous to suggest that that’s what they were suggesting…they were only saying they, personally, were adding up the travel time in that manner.
This exactly!!
Just checked, the IF and Dal portals in Ashran are definitely gone. There are some sad little flags marking where they used to be.
And the point is that they keep deleting choices for no good reason.
I think this really sums up the problem.
For a lot of people, this change was a problem, for a lot of others it wasn’t. To each their own.
My biggest problem is that everyone is at each others throat about it. It’s just…bizarre.
Now, personally, I had no real issue with the changes. I started making toons long before those portals existed, and I always did so with travel foremost in my mind. So even when the portals were there, I was used to my old routes and was generally faster getting to places I needed to go, then if I had taken the portal. I have toys and reputation unlocks and objects that help travel so meh, but I also understand that this caused some serious problems for other people. And I really don’t like that that happened to them. And for that disruption to be to such an extent that there’s a 10,000+ comment thread on it seems…like obviously there’s something wrong here.
Themportal rooms do look nice, however there was no reason to remove access to certain portals. One has nothing to do with the other.
Try telling that to the people who don’t understand after 16k posts (both threads) that other people play this game differently. They’d take your head off and insult you for even saying that to them.
I wish they at least made the teleport stuff toys so that we could use them on multiple characters ><
Interesting…I’m assuming you mean IF and Darnassus (not Dalaran)?
But, I’ll say again on those two, it takes just as much time to take the portal to Boralus and turn to your right and click, as it does to take the portal to Ashran, fly over to the location of the Ironforge or Darnassus portals, and click them. Oh…wait…it’s actually faster. Who knew?
Yeah, Darnassus. And now the only way to easily take the portal in Boralus is to be 110+ or be a Mage. Whereas before, you could teleport there as early as level 80.
I love the portal changes. The portal room looks amazing. I like that all of the portals are centralized. I am a Druid and we have some 20 other portals at our disposal though, so there’s that.
Who needs a portal room anyhow?
One Portal Keeper (with big flashing arrows pointing to them so you can’t miss 'em) - click on them - select where you want to go from the provided selection - go there.
Problem solved.
They never removed portals at the end of Pandaria; if they had, there wouldn’t have BEEN portals in the Shrine to remove in 8.1.
They also didn’t remove any portals at the end of Cataclysm. Or at the end of WoD. Or at the end of BfA. They removed portals at the start of Cataclysm, and in the middle of BfA. So either you’re mis-remembering, or lying.
Honestly, I think the playerbase is so jaded by blizzard that we look for any reason to lash out on them, after years and years of neglect. I was angry about portals too but like honestly, honestly people it’s not really a big deal.
The people that want things like travel “easier” don’t really care about “enriching the gaming experience”, or they’ve already experienced the enriched game experience and are going through it on an alt, or they know how to partake of the enriching game experience but want convenience too when they don’t have time for enriching game experiences. Adding convenience takes nothing away from people’s gaming experience, but limiting convenience does take away from people’s gaming experience.
I played a bit of Skyrim last night.
I had to run to a place to unlock the place and that took a long time, but it was fun as it wasn’t a place I had been to before.
Once I got there, I could instantly teleport from there back to a home town for quests or whatever, and instantly teleport back to the place I had just discovered.
I feel like exploring more places. It did not make me think the world was small, it made me feel like I could explore anytime i wanted and anytime I got lost I could get out.
Some elements of WoW gameplay make me wonder. When you do the Ally war campaign in Zuldazar there is a part where you catch a boat from the East to the West. Not only it is not a cut-scene, it’s not a caption, and it is reading (or listening to a horribly accented dworf) a wall of text whilst you are on a boat. It isn’t engaging, and i feel bored on that boat every single time.
