Unpopular Opinion: I Agree With The Portal Changes

Some opinions objectively are bad. News at 11.

People were freaking out about IF, but no, that is not correct. Those portals weren’t touched.

And besides, the portals to IF and Darnassus are still in Boralus so it’s sort of a moot point.

For players who want to level through MoP the old fashioned way, the starting zone portals are necessary, though. And Blizzard clearly thinks having more than one portal in Pandaria would completely remove any need to travel. Because it’s not like we’re portaling to hubs and then traveling out from there to do our content, or anything. No, the very existence of a portal removes all need to travel.

But
they’re not? They haven’t removed portals since Cataclysm. That’s why their “this is something we always do” explanation is pure bunk: it’s something they did one time four expansions ago.

Kara on many alts, flying across pandaria to farm, and such like that.

“It’s only 5 more minutes”

On 20+ alts, that’s a lot of time slapped on per increase. For those that farm plus content it isn’t ideal at all. And they’ve not taken away portals truly before. Just moved them for many many years. Now it’s a flat out removal.

They kept the Org portal in Legion Dalaran. The change hasn’t affected me at all. It’s the only Legion Dalaran portal I consistently use. I like flying over Mists of Pandaria. Those zones are beautiful.

Nice to see the people who are against this change still do not understand other people play this game differently. It’s almost like an MMO is designed for you to play it how you like.

Just because it does not affect you doesn’t mean it doesn’t affect other players. I don’t even really need the portals because I am fortunate enough to be an engineer and have all sorts of CM teleports as well, but I still think the change wasn’t needed.

All it has done is piss players off and a lot of the ones that are unhappy have quite the game. Why would anyone want this to happen?

I would have said thirty seconds to a minute, but sure. I feel ya. 20 alts would make that increased time a little annoying tbs.

“One time” can here be read to mean: one time at the end of Burning Crusade, at the end of Wrath, and at the end of Pandaria for a total of three times. Actually.

Pretty sure everyone likes the idea, look, and putting portals in one place.

What people don’t like is losing portals that were convenient to have because of this.

Jim Croce warned us about messing around with Jim, so I’ll agree with you.

But in the end, it’s really Slim you gotta look out for

It’s a new concept that devs are pushing that “players are spoiled, and they’d be happier if they had never had any quality of life changes.”

Which is complete garbage. But Ion is working to remove all quality of life changes so the game can be made into a pristine version of what it would have been had earlier devs not been trying to attract and keep paying customers.

Really it’s shrine that has my goat the most. Kara is meh, I mean I could camp some toons there and deal. But flying all the way across pandaland is really annoying.

And no I don’t sit there whispering to myself “gosh this landscape is beautiful” after flightpathing over it for the billionth time like some people like to pretend (this isn’t directed at yrael)

I mean, given how people reacted, “spoiled” is not far wrong. However, I personally like being spoiled.

Do you honestly think that everyone has 20+ alts that they farm Kara on? Honestly the bulk of players play one character they dont DO these things and if you honestly expect to have portals just to make YOUR farming on 20+ alts easier, get over yourself. Soloing raids has always been a long slog to get there and that shouldn’t be any different just because one raid is more popular than the other, or because that select players get this righteous indignation that they deserve these things.

He’s not bad, just shady.

Agreed. It’s why I’ve always had my hearth set to Shrine. It sucks. Pandaland isn’t as terribly huge as BC, but when you have to go there a bunch it sure feels like it.

I know

ROFL don’t try to twist this utter nonsense. I’m not claiming everyone has that. I’m speaking for MYSELF and MY PLAYSTYLE that didn’t affect you AT ALL. Don’t even start. “Make my game easier” ok so why should I have to deal with your lack of alts and have my time wasted? I can twist it right back at you.

Except here’s the thing. They didn’t add anything that inconvenienced YOU. They took it away from those of us that like it. So no. You can get out of here with that. You could easily choose not to ever go near those portals.

They should take a more intelligent approach with reverse engineering their mistakes. But the WoW fanbase is one of the most vocal and volatile fanbases there is, BECAUSE of the longevity of the game. More people gripe because over time people realized that 1. the game isn’t going to die, ever 2. if enough people complain things SOMETIMES change.

Exactly this. Taking away things is bad. Keeping them in is good. The people that do not want it to be easier can not use them. Unless, if they are in the game you are tempted to use them because who in their right mind wants to make things harder lol.

Hearth set to shrine? You might be into something. I’m not expecting that portal to be added back any time soon sadly. Therefore, I might have to do that. Loading screens are way better than flightpaths.
