Unofficial Sethrak Discussion Thread 🐍

Which is funny, cuz even in MoP the worgen partake in some of the ‘monk’ quests in one of the areas, with the training…I don’t remember the name of the area, but it does show them kicking and such.

One major difference between Worgen and Sethrak though, the worgen have claws where as the Sethrak do not, or at least not to the extent on their hands as the worgen do. Punches and the like would work much more easily with a hand that can be closed more easily into a fist like such. As for their feet? Well…look at the Draenei or troll, they have awkward feet and do just fine! Plus a tail like theirs makes for great balance while fighting!

The reason I say paladin: if I remember right, all one needs really to be a paladin, is to be a priest that also takes up the role of a warrior. I mean, look at Anduin, he was a priest himself and now he is more as a Paladin than a priest. A melee fighter that uses the light is what a paladin is based off of, so I don’t see why it’d be as far-fetched :3

Technically a Paladin is a armored warrior infused by religious light meaning a race with no Priests could still by right be Paladins, Humans, Dwarves, HighElves/BloodElves and possibly in the future Gnomes were created through Priests as a desperate need to combat the Old Horde in the earlier games.

Draenei Vindicators are Light Worthshipers off the bat and infuse the light through themselves more constantly and willingly, Tauren Sunwalkers aren’t even close to this and are only Paladins due to gameplay limitations in the lore they’re actually buff armoured Sun aligned Druids (remember in Cata there was Moon/Sun mechanic for Balance Druids), Zandalari Trolls infuse there light through zealot like worthship of there Loa namely Rezan and possibly another unknown Loa with light capabilities to become Prelates not Paladins by right, Dark Irons i can’t pinpoint 100% myself but theres two outcomes here the easy option A which is they copied the Mountain Dwarves of Ironforge with Light or option B they’re using the Light of Flames as there religious infusion meaning they’re Flame Paladins (which would honestly fit them better).

For Sethrak as Seije said it (ps i loved your post mate good job!) would be the flash of light within Lightning coupled with religious Loa worthship this is a combination of logic from Tauren Sunwalkers and Zandalari Prelates but there variant isn’t in Lore a Druid but more likely a Shaman or Priest/Shaman.

If prelates ( Zandalar ) can be paladins, by worshiping the Loas, Sethraks, who worship Loa Sethraliss, they could also be paladins!

I finished the horde of the horde, in which we see the funeral tributes to Rasthadoop!
We see several inhabitants of Zandalar, among them Kiro, representing the Vulperas and several tortolans!

But I did not find any sethrak among the public!
I remember seeing a Sethrak in dazaralor, but I did not see any altar dedicated to Sethraliss! Was she forgotten by the trolls?
The zandalares and sethraks have a good coexistence?

After all, the Sethraks live in Vol’dum!
And it is in Vol’dum that the Zandalares exile their criminals!

I do not know how they can have a solid relationship of good neighborhood, like neighbors, when the zandalares send thieves and throat cutters, to the backyard of the sethraks!

I would not have a good relationship with a neighbor throwing his trash in my yard!

Not sure if there is a shrine, but she does show up briefly when Talanji is performing her “ritual” to become Queen.

I don’t really see why that has to be done. I mean sure, it’d be great to have the starting areas and such, but the way AR are currently done, they don’t have a starting area. Just continue the trend and spawn the character in at the same location as other characters of the same AR at the level the hero class starts at, and then just let them go quest as normal.
That’s the easiest way to handle it.

Currently there needs to be more of a lore reason for some of the AR races to be a DK though, as it doesn’t make any sense for some.

Maybe that’ll be fixed in a death themed expansion as is speculated.

I think DKs would be easier to explain than DHs. DKs could have been raised recently by the orderhall leader (Morgraine?)

DHs would be much more tricky, especially since the lore for DHs in Legion would drop them off with a bunch of NPCs they haven’t seen before that are suddenly looking to them for leadership and referencing past history. I know that they don’t need a story to make them playable, but the same could be said for all the other classes that they added to races later like NE mages and Tauren paladins; I just don’t see blizzard implementing a class without having a lore-based reason for it.

that said, i’d love a Sethrak DH. Sethrak with wings would probably be the closest thing we’d get to being able to play actual dragons. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m curious what would you guys do if they won’t become playable? 8.1 has passed and 8.2 was revealed ot doesn’t seem like Sethrak will feature in any future patches and not only that but for the Alliance too.

The Sethrak aren’t even Acknowledged by the devs compared to vulpera

what would I do? Honestly, I don’t know. If I continued playing, I’d remain on my worgen. The story and content would really have to draw me in though. It also depends on what the other options would be for Alliance as ARs.

What do you mean by this, though? I’m not sure I follow (am also quite tired, so it’s likely I’m just dumb atm)

Has the dev team referenced vulpera? If so, i’d count that as good news for our friends over in the other megathread.

As far as what I’d do, my sub has been expired since January. I check in here from time to time, but the recent Q&A got me posting again. I’ll probably calm back down and go silent again in a few days.

I’ve been wanting a reptilian race since Naga were rumored before TBC. I don’t have a whole lot of interest in coming back to the game, but Sethrak would be the one thing that would draw me in. I’ve been wanting to try an RP server, but if i do, i want a character i know i’d enjoy regardless of gameplay. As someone that is usully drawn to the Kobolds and Lizardmen and Dragonborn of tabletop RPGs, Sethrak would scratch that itch perfectly.

The thing is, Ion said that they are looking at feedback. What have been the major megathreads going, nonstop, since ARs have started to be talked about? Sethrak have support. People have mentioned wanting them, constantly. This thread is among the popular ones.

I have hope for our sneks.

and I have hope for yours in kind  You’ve put in a lot of time and effort for your findings so I keep my fingers crossed for you as well~

Even though I don’t see any Sethrak warlocks ingame, I think it may be worth giving players the option to play one. Being a snake-man that can summon demons would just be too cool to deny! I don’t even play warlocks and it would be cool seeing them run around.

It would kind of make sense from a faithless perspective, however I don’t really see devoted being ones to dabble into such a demonic power. Of course I could be wrong~ I love warlocks as well and it’d be pretty awesome to see them running around, I agree!

Keep in mind, we didn’t get Nightborne until Legion was virtually over, despite the bulk of their story happening in the first patch.

I think it’s fairly obvious Sethrak weren’t initially planned to be an allied race (they don’t even have a generic female model) but Blizz could still potentially add them due to fan demand. If they don’t, then maybe they’ll at least consider the possibility of some other reptilian race down the line.

I am in full agreement with the start of what you said. I think it’s highly likely their involvement will likely be yet to come.

And although the models aren’t used in Vol’dun with the, clearly, female voiced Sethrak, there is a model in differing proportions (albeit slight) found within the model of Sethraliss. The race itself has undergone extensive changes since Beta first launched. Hell, there wasn’t even a devoted faction of Sethrak added until a little (couple months) before launch as well! They have already changed so much of what the Sethrak originally were because of the feedback they received on them upon first exposure.

During the BFA beta a Dev came in the game using a vulpera character during the time the hype was happening it’s small but at least it’s something

Feedback could mean many things, i’m sure Ion was refering mostly on gameplay PVP/PVE and bugs which they have been actively monitoring.

That’s fair but also that’s the point i’m trying to make look at the sethrak, the work it would require to make them may far exceed Vulpera, Nightborn, etc.

He said specifically when it comes to Allied Races and feedback.

There has already been a whole lot of work done for the Sethrak towards making them playable. We haven’t seen anything new regarding their models nor anything of the sort since…July? The same can be said for the Vulpera. It just so happens that the Vulpera were much further along than the Sethrak before they put the lock down on them.

Sethrak have: had their models shrunk greatly since the original Beta, had Devoted added to the region (was not originally a thing), had Geosets made for them, have the Heart of Azeroth animation, have an appearance already made for talbards resting on their tail. So if you’ve done the research and digging, you’ll find that there is a lot more to the Sethrak than you might think.

He could be referring to the nightborne’s limited customization options, which he did mention in an older Q and A.

Where is the evidence aside from them using the same rig as the female worgen rig? Aside from that having them wear armor would require a lot of work.

That animation was used for an ingame cinematic nothing more

Tabards are not armor, and that’s for npc’s they’re just doing the same thing they did for jinyu in mop
