Someone made a great connection in another thread they made, tying the Sethrak even more to Shadowlands. Not sure why it didnāt dawn on me myself.
This is a big hope. If Sethrak arenāt just a throwaway enemy in one expansion but actually follow through to be part of the story in ANOTHER expansionā¦ then yes, that is very good.
It is a big hope!
And as Saurfang and Delaryn have said.
You cannot kill hope!
-Insert Saurfang meme here-
I would love snakes. Preferably on Alliance so I get an allied race that I actually like. Probably wonāt happen but I can dream. Nightborne, Zandalari and Vulpera were the ones I was interested in, but of course being forced to play on Alliance due to friends hating Horde makes having them impossible.
This is kinda the boat I am in. My fiancƩ loves Dwarves too much haha.
Do love my Worgen though.
And I encourage you to put an in game suggestion in for Sethrak! Itās in the game menu, under the Help Tab. You can do it on the PTR version of the game, beta or live.
I want Blizzard to know we still love the Sethrak and still excited about them and their story.
And look how good they look in Alliance colors!
(blatant excuse to show off getting my TL back, thereās hope on the horizon for you Nad!)
There has never been a race I want more!
Iām working on it! Reading all the things. And I need it back cause I plan to commission a nice reference sheet of Hershey as a Sethrak and I wanna share it with everybody when I get it done.
Also, YES.
Thank you so much for the support too!
Theyāre a fabulous race.
Also since you seem to be a new face, what do you like about the Sethrak?
Well, since you askedā¦
The sound effect on their vocalizations is so cool. Funnest vocal effect Iāve heard in the game so far.
Also, the way they move and their animations would make them the most unique race yet.
The Egyptian theme is one of my favorites, and it was cool to see them that way.
Doing the Sethrak questlines in BFA got me really excited about their race and story-lines. I would like to explore a lot more of that.
Lastly, Iāve always really liked snakes, and used to raise them.
One thing Iād love is the Sethrak Heritage armor. If it looks anything like the various Skycallers around Volādun, then Iād be thrilled. The combination of shawls and crystals and carved pieces looks so cool!
Yes, yes, yes and yes! I agree with all of that. Theyāre such an amazing race, conceptually and what we have been given thus far.
Might I suggest dropping an in game suggestion for them via the in game menu? Itās under the Help tab. More voices the better.
And oh? I love snakes. Have quite a few as pets right now. What species did you raise?
I absolutely love their armor designs. All of them. I donāt think a signal one is drab.
Also love their architecture.
And would be really curious to see what their ships might look like. They are based off the nomadic Bendouins. But also it is hard to find anything on what their ships looked like for reference either. That is assuming they used boats.
Thatās if they need ships. They seem advanced enough with magic that they probably would be more similar to the Kirin Tor and just portal to where they need to go. I think a big reason we havenāt seen Sethrak elsewhere is that, up until Korthek, the society was content with the lot theyād been given.
The more I think about it, the more I believe that the Faithless were just victims of old god corruption and anger.
Ah yes, portals would make plenty of sense, lol. Still like the idea of them traveling by boat places. xD
Korthek insists the Sethrak are conquerors. Which could have some truth to it. Doesnāt make them evil though. Makes them really suited for Maldraxxus in the afterlife. Emeni and where she is makes total sense.
And who knows, maybe that was the anger and corruption speaking in Korthek. Vorrik did say there was a time he was not so power hungry.
I mean, weāve seen it time and time again with factions like the Burning Legion and the Old Gods.
Super powerful being offers power to an otherwise peaceful race.
Peaceful race becomes warlike and convinced that they can rule the world.
We beat back the now-warlike race and restore balance to the world.
Sethrak are another example of that, Iām sure of it. Every time Old Gods have been involved, they subvert and turn races violent in order to get what they want. Iām sure Korthek just listened too hard to Mythrax and that corruption spread over time. We know that Korthek and Vorrik are likely over 10,000 years old, so plenty of time for stuff like that to develop.
Was he present when Sethraliss fought Mythrax? Perhaps if he was corrupted, the corruption started then.
Lord Stormsong wasnāt always bad either and he turned into a squid face.
Thought truth be told, we really do not know that much about the Sethrak. And I think we need to know more! I really want to at least!
What is their origin?
Where is their origin?
Did they always worship Sethraliss?
Were The Devoted the main sect of Sethrak or were they more akin to The Faithless at one point as Emeniās dialogue seems to loosely imply?
Are their ranks divided into Houses or something else similar? We know there were noble families based on what little we know of Emeni but do they still follow those traditions? Would the Keepers have been considered royalty?
What is to become of The Faithless now that Korthek is dead? And The Devoted? Will Vorrik reunite his people? Will he be the one to rule them?
Or will two factions of Sethrak become a permanent part of their society? And if so, who will take Korthekās place and lead The Faithless down a path for better? Or for worse?
Are there other clans of Sethrak elsewhere on Azeroth?
Also wish me luck. I am about to go through all the Sethrak npc models on WoWhead to determine if the hood piericings is a unique accessory to female Sethrak.
Noticed it was on the one named female Sethrak tied to Emeni. And wasnāt sure if coincidence or if it is a feature of just the females. Would be interesting if it is.
EDIT: Didnāt take me long. Found a male that has the hood piercings. But now to find out if there is more than one style or color!
So far yes there is more than one color for the hoops!
Looks like brass/dark grey and gold/brown. Silver/dark grey. (Seems to coincide with armor color) So far.

Another observation:
It would appear that almost ALL of The Devoted Sethrak are green. I cannot find a single Faithless Sethrak that is green. Now the Devoted Scribe has the Diamondback skin tone. But it was definitely a slightly peculiar observation.
Likely just for us to easily tell the difference in game between Faithless and Devoted Sethrak BUT I am curious if there is another reason.
Also just talked to Vorrik again to refresh some of memory on some of the Lore we do have and he does mention that long ago they were all one people as Sethraliss would have wanted. Which does imply they have always worshipped her.
Another thing to note. Serrik, Sulthis and Vorrik are all green. Korthek is the only one of the Keepers with a different skin color.
Great detective work! Those hood piercings would make a fantastic accessory option for customizing player characters!
And yeah, we just have more questions than answers. Over the course of Warcraftās history weāve gotten tidbits on all sorts of things, like where the dwarves and troggs are from, how all of the various elf derivatives came to be, the history of trolls and orcs. The Forsaken is probably the most well-documented racial history since it is so recent and relevant to current events.
The Sethrak, as of now, are a complete mystery. We can see that Loa are very similar to (if not the same as) the Wild Gods/Ancient Ones, and there are dozens of them. Troll Druids believe that wisps and other spiritual things are loa, and loa gain power the more worshippers they have. As of yet, Sethraliss is the ONLY Loa worshipped by the Sethrak, but apparently other trolls also worship Sethraliss.
Thereās a lot of empty space in there. The idea that for such a long period of time the Sethrak were one people in one place does imply that there arenāt any other dens of Sethrak in other places, but you never know what new information Shadowlands might bring.
I can see them being content in Volādun, as they say, that they considered it the holiest of holy grounds.
Although, some faithless have expressed the desire to see more of the world.
