Unofficial Sethrak Discussion Thread šŸ

I believe there are some in Outland.

I was thinking of Draenor and not Outland.

Who knows, maybe they survived the Naruu?

Apparently, some may have fled to Azeroth as well, but it would be up to Blizzard to confirm that Arakkoas also came to Azeroth, along with the Saberons.

Cyclopes monsters tooā€¦and a few evil plant people.

Considering the High Arrakoa were all aboard the ā€œpurge things with Lightā€ train already, Iā€™m thinking itā€™s more like they were already along for the ride when the Naaru showed up.

Do the Naruu care about use of the light or just that people use the light?

Considering how little we know about Yrelā€™s Naaru and her Deus Vult crusade, that is an excellent question that I do not yet have an answer for.

I assume Xeā€™ra was setting up something similar before it got ganked.

Wasnā€™t the Naaru identified already?

They reconciled after we helped them reveal the truth behind the curse and deposed Viryx.

And the arakkoas worshiped Rukhmar (Light) and Anzu (shadows).
And it does not seem that after all this the Arakkoas would abandon Anzu.

I suspect some would have joined the Lightbound Draenei willingly and others would not. I do believe we see some run away on Azeroth during the Magā€™har recruitment quest.

To sorta relate this back to Sethrak.

I had really been hoping when 8.3 was announced and that Uldum was a place we were going to revisit, that we would meet some more Sethrak there. Since the story with them in Volā€™dun kinda just got droppedā€¦ And with hints from Hearthstone (take that all with a grain of salt) of Sethrak and Uldum, I definitely thought it was at least a possibility (and still could be to be honestā€¦).

But was met with some terrible disappointment. Not a single scale of a Sethrak in Uldum. Although there were files datamined for Sethrak in the 8.3 PTR. Which was either scrapped or snuck in for Shadowlands (I can hope!)

It was really disheartening. But hey, Sethrak are natives to Azeroth. I still think if the Sethrak from Volā€™dun are not continued with, another clan could make their appearance.

And always, there is still that tie with Sethraliss and snake symbolism to Ardenweald. I think this could really have some potential.

(Playable Sethrak please! :snake: )

Sethraks certainly wouldnā€™t have the means to be added now, but at some point in the future, we could see them as a playable race.

BfA already gave what there was to give to the players. :disappointed:
But we can still see what we will have during and after Shadowland, related to new races.
We can even see Draenor expansion races coming to players and rewarding this frustrating and disappointing BfA.

Many of the features of building new races are shown in Shadowland, with a degree of refinement that would not be imagined in Pandaria, which was the expansion that gave us pandaren and other equally exotic races.

So even if it takes a while, until Blizzard says no, I still choose to be positive and leave BfA negativity behind when we enter Shadowland.

The Botani were on the train to Azeroth, you can see them flee into the Barrens with the saberon.

We saw gronn and ogron both come over with the Magā€™har.

Nah, no arrakoa sadly. Reshad is one of my favorite minor characters, and unpopular opinion, but I loved Spires of Arak. Come Shadowlands Iā€™m gonna love fully requesting there.

However, if Botani got through, thereā€™s nothing stopping arrakoa minus that arrakoa donā€™t live in Gorgrond as the Botani and saberon do. I think I recall seeing some arrakoa as gladiators in Gorgrond, when you pick that as your zone garrison building, but itā€™s been four years since Iā€™ve done that, I always go lumber mill. Those arrakoa would just be gladiators though, not a real population of arrakoa.

Either way, maybe some got through, somehow, but they werenā€™t seen in the Magā€™har unlock, so itā€™d be a case of lore expanded later on. I donā€™t even see Blizzard remembering the Botani/saberon, at least for a while, not to mention arrakoa since they didnā€™t even make it over. I guess the community likes arrakoa more, that may or may not remind them, probably not tbh lol. But hey, maybe

Who knows, maybe some moved north to Gorgrond. I donā€™t see why theyā€™d do that, but maybe.

Maybe they took another portal?

Or or, hear me out, we go back to AU Draenor and get all the cut content. I know most people would hate that but seeing as orcs are my favorite race and that I liked the Iron Horde, Iā€™d love that. Botani were also an enemy I really loved fighting too. But doing that could give a lot of new story to arrakoa.

If weā€™re talking playable arrakoa? MU arrakoa were attacked by the original Horde. They donā€™t have a particular connection to the Alliance, and theyā€™re only seen using shadow magic, so the Lightforged might not like that. But then again, void elves. Maybe the arrakoa on MU Draenor were all of the outcasts we quested with in WoD, combine them being outcasts with them using void magic and the Renā€™dorei might relate a bit. So, even though it was a different Horde, and even though that characters that fought that Horde have recognized that (Lorā€™themar in one of the chronicles), the arrakoa probably donā€™t like the Horde all that much and would have an affinity for an Alliance race.

Then again, I, think, thereā€™s quests for Alliance to kill them in Allerian Stronghold. Maybe not.

MU arrakoa would likely be more Alliance leaning.

AU arrakoa Iā€™d see as more Horde leaning, since when they see Alliance, theyā€™d see Lightforged Draenei, who look an awful lot like the Lightbound, and I donā€™t see the Lightbound appreciating that shadow magic. As far as Iā€™m aware, there wasnā€™t any story regarding relations between the Iron Horde and arrakoa. So, AU arrakoa would be either Horde leaning, assuming no relations between the Iron Horde, or neutral, if the Iron Horde was hostile.

Who knows, maybe they could recognize the Lightbound and Lightforged are different. Itā€™d be difficult though for them to, though. And this is assuming thereā€™s even a story there, which to be fair, is extremely likely and reasonable to assume.

And maybe they did actually have relations with the Iron Horde similar to MU relations. Iā€™m not super knowledgeable on arrakoa. Familiar, Iā€™d say.

Iā€™d love arrakoa playable, I mean, I ever taught myself how to do the squaks they do, since I was younger and loved them that much. I do, of course, prefer them on Horde, but Iā€™d make a few on Alliance if thatā€™s how they became playable. Neutral seems the best route with what I know. MU to Alliance, AU to Horde. Though, sadly, Iā€™m a bit of a pessimist with races becoming playable. I donā€™t see it happening. Fun to speculate, though. And hope as well.

Maybe arrakoa could get some sort of cosmic story similar to void elves, and if they went Horde, neutral or exclusively Horde, that means Horde could finally have a cosmic race, since Alliance has a monopoly on those at the moment.

Ethereals are also a possibility that are more likely to go Horde at the moment, but are for the most part, totally neutral. The reasons theyā€™d have to go Horde are huge stretches. Iā€™m also already super off topic, though.

A race on Alliance making me jealous is generally an indicator of a good race though, and Alliance should get some of those races. My personal vote, vrykul, though thatā€™s only one race and more would be better. I think arrakoa should be neutral but seeing as AU Draenor is probably lost, our best shot is MU, which would be Alliance leaning, most likely. Arrakoa make another good candidate.

Both of those deserve their own thread, I feel Iā€™m doing vrykul a bit dirty just mentioning them and not going into the lore at least a bit like I did with arrakoa, but Iā€™m already pretty off topic.

Sethrak do too make one of those good races but whilst Iā€™m jelly but cool with the other two going Alliance (one more so than the other though), Iā€™d cast blood fury IRL is sethrak became Alliance only, though in due time Iā€™d get over it and make a token one, but with current story, sethrak make much more sense on Horde, or as neutral. To me neutral/Horde seems best route for sethrak, Horde out of personal bias/current story and neutral since basically everyone would get to be happy that way, and the story already fits it quite well, though a bit of expansion would be welcome to help explain them going Alliance as well, even if it already makes decent sense. Overall, neutral is best in my opinion.

Current story can also be expanded but I doubt that of the sethrak will be, at least not for a while.

Either way, Iā€™ve wanted sethrak since 2.57 seconds into my first loading screen for Zandalar, which is longer than just about everyone who wants them, minus the few that have that same story as myself and finished the intro scenario quicker, but either way Iā€™m still in the top 0.00001% bow down to your superior my opinion matters more >:D

Some parts of this post might be lacking in detail, since itā€™s one of my longer posts and my longer posts frequently get spam edited, like the first post in my orc thread for Shadowlands customization. If there is a part thatā€™s strange just quote me and Iā€™ll go into it in a better fashion.

btw if they give sethrak more skin tones and we have green snakes I think we know what skin color most of my sethrak would be, no reason for that at all  we can hope for that too especially me

I rather enjoyed Spires too. Though Iā€™m really into Arrakoa though soooā€¦

Honestly wonder if itā€™d be easier to get the Outland Arrakoa.

They better remember them! Going through the trouble of having them run off like that.

Gods how I want the cut stuff from WoD.

I can see that.

The Alliance kill them in many places.

Bring them both.

Iā€™ll take Sethrak however they want em in game. Just want my snakes!

Is long but thatā€™s not bad. Plus itā€™s always a joy to talk with you.

Green is the most common color among the Devoted Sethrakā€¦ So I think youā€™re covered. :snake:

Something I never understood and never saw any explanation for is why the zandaleres send their criminals to Volā€™dun, where sethraks and vulperas live.
It seems to me to be a very irresponsible action to exile criminals in a place where there are already people living.

I cannot imagine the USA sending its prison population to Canada and the people of this land accepting it calmly.

Let us remember that there are several groups of trolls wandering in the desert and they are not all friendly, causing various evils to both the Vulperas and the Sethraks.

It seems acceptable to me that these people felt some discontent with this solution to the criminal problems of the trolls.

I hope that at least Talanje now changes this.
It is a very rude zandalous solution to the neighbors.

Neutral/Allied Race.

Iā€™d see it happen. We have both factions on numerous realms RPing them.

Still rooting for playable Sethrak as well!

How is everyone?

Not to overshare but I got some good news. My dad is coming out to visit me and weā€™re gonna go do some Field herpetology! Heā€™s the one who sparked my love for snakes and fantasy games. Which is why I love Sethrak. :snake:
