I’ve been considering that thought myself, but I’d bet its mostly Blizzard doesn’t want to bother to update them.
There isn’t a good reason to leave the old furbolg in lesser models except for not wanting to go through the files to update them.

I went to take some sleigh riding Furbolg screenshots and found that the old model doesn’t have a sitting animation:
Not really surprised, to be honest. I did however see the idle animation still happened, where I took this screenshot that makes it look like the Furbolg is singing while the sleigh rides flies through Ironforge:
I haven’t gotten a Rogue to the Dragon Isles yet, but I did read that a lot of the humanoid mobs don’t have pockets to pick. I’ll have to see if I can try to get a Furbolg illusion with the new model somehow, though it sounds like the chances of that are a bit low.
But on the bright side, happy singing Furbolg is still very enjoyable!
Playable Alliance Furbolgs are a bear necessity!
So Blizzard showed off a roadmap for Dragonflight which is honestly a massive breath of fresh air from the company and I see some things here that suggest to me that further customizations or even Allied Races may actually be more likely than not.
While that doesn’t mean a lot for furbolg, I don’t think, it does mean something for Frostborn Dwarves and Taunka I’d wager. I also think there is a high chance for Tuskarr becoming a new Allied Race.
Specifically they don’t mention customizations or allied races but as we know from the already datamined information for 10.0.5 the Zandalari at least are getting new hair colors. A minor but very welcome addition to their customizations.
Theres a lot of room in these 6 content patches and while I’d bet we wont see much in customization or allied races with the Two traditional season patches, I think there is a high chance for some really neat things in the patches between those, the .5 and .7 patches. The later ones also don’t go into any real details about what we can expect (probably cause they haven’t worked directly on them yet and don’t want to promise something they can’t deliver right now.) and I’d bet we might see things like Taunka and Frostborn customizations for Tauren and Dwarves along with many other minor updates to other races.
The information in the recent lore book about the Taunka only speaking with the Horde and the Frostborn being invited to Ironforge is just too easy to slip in as customization for those two races and make a lot of people happy. Easily something we could see in a later .5 or .7 patch I think.
I feel a lot of hope for the coming future of WoW… I haven’t really felt this good about the game since Legion and honestly I just… I don’t know. I like this new direction. Hope they keep up with it and even do better at it than they are already.
Good job Blizz.

Hope everyone is having a good Winter Veil!
I took one of my Rogues to the Dragon Isles to check a few Furbolg mobs to see if they’re pick-pocketable for Glyph of Disguise purposes, but several I tried were not able to be pick-picketed. Unless I find another way to get that new Furbolg model form, I’ll have to use the old one from the toy for screenshot purposes.
Guess I’ll just have to get creative in the meantime!

Happy Winter Veil everyone! Whatever your plans are, I hope you all are having a fun, happy, and wonderful holiday!

Happy Winter Veil to all!
I hope Great Father Winter provides what you need this year!
Here’s hoping he brings us furbolg to that character creation screen!

What better way to head towards the next year than some dancing Furbolgs:
Looking forward to helping support playable Alliance Furbolgs next year and beyond!

Happy New Year everyone!
I’m definitely planning to continue support for playable Furbolgs in 2023 and beyond. There is still quite a bit happening with them in Dragonflight, and while nothing is guaranteed, they’ll still be fresh in Blizzard’s mind as we go forward. I’ll still hope to see them on that character creation screen someday!

With a new year comes a new month! That means another round of in-game playable race requests!
At the beginning of each month, I send in in-game suggestions for each race I want to see playable along with a mention of their respective megathreads. While it is far from a guarantee of seeing our dreams come true, I do think every little bit helps, and doing it monthly is reasonable.
If you’re interested in doing the same for races you want to see playable, I made a little guide on how to do so in-game here:
It’s a good time to show interest in playable Furbolgs, so I do think every little bit helps. Hopefully, we’ll see them on the Alliance side of that character creation screen someday!
And seeing how I’m at three posts in a row, if someone could make a post so I can keep making posts, I’d very much appreciate it!

Happy New Year everyone!
Not a whole lot new for Furbolg yet this year but I have a feeling we’ll be getting to see more of the Winterpelt tribe in the next few patches as their rep opens up for players to enjoy.
I don’t think unfortunately that the Winterpelt are going to lead to a new Allied Race by themselves but they should lead to plenty of fun lore for our furbolg friends!
I am rather excited for this New Year as it seems Blizzard overall is beginning to improve and listen to what players have been saying for years. Many things may be more within reach than ever before and I for one hope that the furbolg will be a playable race in the not too distant future!
I will continue to support and update this thread as needed and as more information comes out and soon I hope to continue my lore looks at the various furbolg tribes!
As Bagzak just mentioned if you support this thead whether you post here or elsewhere or you just support furbolg in general please let Blizzard know through the in-game suggestion option located under the support button on your in-game menu.

The next Dragonflight patch, which is a small one, releases January 24th (US) and 25th (Europe):
I didn’t really see much Furbolg related on the list. Unless the questline with that Furbolg rep continues, though I don’t know if it would then or be in a future patch. It’s something to keep an eye on, though I don’t know where to check for it.
There is also the Trading Post in case there are any Furbolg related items on there. Can’t think of anything in particular for that, but you never know. I’ll keep an eye on it and if I see something of interest, I’ll be sure to report it here.

Went to the zoo to try to get a few pictures of bears to show off but uh… My nearest zoo let’s em hibernate though the winter unmolested so they were out of sight.
Kinda forgot it was still winter here…lol
Anyways!
Thinking of asking a friend of mine to try putting Alliance armor onto a Winterpelt Furbolg… Just to see how it would look.

Bears in a zoo:
Makes me imagine Furbolg wandering and surveying the area some, maybe while also being on a hunt.

Blizzard has announced some features of the upcoming .7 patch:
The main particular thing of interest is that the Monk class is coming to Goblins, Worgen, and Lightforge Draenei:
Seeing as the Monk class is being opened up to all current playable races, aside from Dracthyr, I don’t see why Furbolg would be an exception if they become playable.
I see it being a situation like with other races that became playable, where Pandaren train them to become Monks immediately after joining the Horde/Alliance. I could see Furbolg bonding very well with Pandaren over it and other reasons.
Seeing new race/class combos is pretty exciting. I feel like that helps open up class options for future playable races as well that may not have been considered in the future. I’ll be sure to help report on any new race/class combos in the future, as it could help expand classes Furbolgs could be.

I came across a neat art piece on DeviantArt from Hearthstone’s Kobolds and Catacombs feature. It’s a named elder Furbolg that is one of the bosses in it, which was created by Mr–Jack and uploaded to the website on March 19th, 2018.
“Elder Brandlemar” by Mr–Jack on DeviantArt
It got me thinking on Furbolg heritage armor and if something similar to that look would be fitting for them. It’s something most NPC Furbolgs have, at least the old world models, but with a bit more features, I feel like it would work very well as heritage armor.
Also, I’m at three posts in a row, so if someone could post so I can make more posts in the future, I’d really appreciate it!
Playable Alliance Furbolgs are a bear necessity!
Furbolg are already technically in The Alliance as kind of a client tribe of the Draenei. They consider the draenei some kind of prophesied heroes. I’m pretty sure there’s one of them in the Shaman area of the Exodar, but that may just be senility creeping up on me.
Just make those ones playable. Done.
A very nice furbolg.
I imagine their heritage would be covered in beads, feathers and wooden panels along with leather armor.
I’d also hope some callback to Ursol and Ursoc would be incorporated.
It would be the easiest way to do it, though I should point out that while the Stillpine are very much already allied they’re not the only ones allied to the Alliance at this point.
The Blackwood and the Gnarlpine(If any still exist) are already more or less allied to the Night Elves directly.
The Thistlefur are also likely allied with the Alliance currently.

With these new npcs coming with the Trading Post, I hope we will see some furbolg in Stormwinds. They are in the the Alliance with the Stillpine tribe and they could be with the Night Elves or the Draenei. We should have some of them or an ambassador of the Stillpine tribe in Stormwinds as all the other races of the Alliance.
Could be more than the Stillpine tribe.
The Blackwood and Gnarlpine and possibly the Thistlefur could all show up.
Be really nice to see what’s going on with all of them.
