I cannot wait for the day the furbolg join the Alliance!
That said I also doubt they’re slated this expansion to join anyone as their model was only updated to the level of a standard npc race. However I take heart from the fact that they were not forgotten and have their own rep again. In the future Blizzard will now have furbolg from multiple continents to choose from and hopefully they’ll give them the consideration they deserve. The Furbolg could be a great addition to the Alliance.
And with a new month, comes another round of in-game race request suggestions!
At the beginning of each month, I usually send in-game feedback for each of the races I want to see and refer to their megathreads on here for more information. I figure it can only help to gain some interest in our requests of what we’d like to see, though no guarantees it’ll lead to that ever becoming a reality.
If you’re interested in doing something similar for your most wanted playable races, I made a guide in the following post that explains how to do it in steps:
Hoping someday to see Furbolg get to celebrate Winter Veil in Ironforge. And for those of you planning to celebrate IRL, whatever your plans are, please have a fun, happy, and safe holiday!
I literally just got there myself, but I’ve accidentally skipped ahead to the furbolg you can get rep with. (I think if I remember right there are other tribes along the path. lol)
Very happy to see them and excited to share a screenshot or two tomorrow or maybe the next day.
I just got to the Azure Span area and am just now starting it. So that Furbolg rep found made it to live? Looks like it’ll be a top priority for me to work on, along with Tuskarr rep/renown. I’ll report anything of interest I find, of course!
It did. I’ve begun the questlines for it and its pretty clearly a nod to the Timbermaw from vanilla.
Also they took into account the ten thousand year differences from other furbolg like them not having the same dialect. Blizzard seems to have put a little thought into how this is all going down and I am here for it.
According to comments, people are sitting at 2050/3000 into Unfriendly and are unsure of anything else to do to get more rep at the time of this post. It’s possible we’ll see more done with it in future patches, since the description of the rep mentions more will perhaps be revealed in the future.
For anyone interested, this starts the quests that open up the rep:
Very shortly after that quest is when you get quests that give Winterpelt rep.
Currently at the time of this post, I’m at 1,800/3,000 in unfriendly. As mentioned above, some people stated they were are 2,050/3,000 when they ran out of quests. I don’t know if I’ve missed any quests, but I think some of it could also be related to the Darkmoon Faire rep buff and maybe human characters having rep bonus gains as a racial.
We’ll have to see if any other methods of getting rep get added as time goes on. I will try to keep tabs on it as best as I can.
So I finished up the main quests in Azure Span and most of the side quests I could find. As I leveled in the last area and went to check my rep in general for something, I noticed I was at 2,050/3,000 into unfriendly with the Winterpelt Furbolg, without any use of the Darkmoonfaire buff.
There are some side quests in Azure Span that give a little bit of rep with the Winterpelt Furbolg that don’t really have anything to do with them. I think this starts the questline:
Again, not all quests in it give Winterpelt Furbolg rep. Just a few do that mostly involve a friendly Furbolg in the questline. Also I think I wasn’t at 2,050/3,000 rep when I finished it, unless I got more at some point during it and didn’t notice as I wasn’t expecting to get that rep from it, so I can’t confirm if that gets you there or if there are other quests that get you to the 2,050/3,000 point.
I’ll continue to keep an eye out for any info on how to get more rep with the Winterpelt Furbolg and anything of Furbolg interest to report back here.
Kind of off the topic of the Winterpelts (which I hope we get more info/quests for soon!), but for fun I was thinking of more potential racial abilities for a furbolg race. Here’s what I came up with:
Flavor/Non-Combat Racials
Natural Weapons : When toggled, the appearance of your melee weapons is hidden and you appear to attack with your claws and teeth.
Brother Bear : The bear gods Ursoc and Ursol, as well as their children, look on you with favor. All hostile bear npc’s in the world are now neutral and will no longer attack you unless you attack them first.
Running wild : Drop down to all fours to run as fast as a wild animal. Can only be used outside.
Ancestral Pilgrimage : Every 30 minutes you may summon an ancient furbolg spirit, who will provide you with instant transport to an ancestral site of one of the furbolg clans. Locations to choose from include:
Vordrassil in Grizzly Hills
Timbermaw Hold in northern Kalimdor
Longclaw Island in the Azure Span
Grizzleweald in Val’Sharah
Combat racials
Ursine Hide : Stamina increased by 1%.
Dominant Bellow : You assert your dominance with a deafening bellow, interrupting all spells and stunning all enemies within a 10 yard radius for 1 second. 4 minute cooldown.
Guardian Spirits : Kaldorei wisps and the spirits of your ancestors form a protective circle around you for x seconds, preventing enemies from targeting into the protective circle and reducing your damage taken while inside the circle by %. 5 minute cooldown.
Handy Honeycomb : You always carry a delicious honeycomb with you, allowing you to choose one of the following abilities to perform every 3 minutes:
Devour Honeycomb : You devour the honey, healing you for a small percentage of your health over 4 seconds and granting you a temporary boost to a random secondary stat. Shares a cooldown with Throw Honeycomb.
Throw Honeycomb : You throw the honeycomb at target location, covering all enemies in the area with sticky honey and angry bees, slowing their movement speed and dealing a small amount of damage over time. Shares a cooldown with Devour Honeycomb.
Silly/Not-serious racials:
Steal Picnic Basket : You may remove a food buff from target friendly/enemy player and apply it to yourself, even if you already have a food buff active. There is no limit to how many food buffs may be stolen and applied to yourself. Every food buff stolen also refreshes the duration of all other food buffs you currently have active.
Winter Hibernation : Your furbolg’s instincts compel them to hibernate every winter. Your furbolg is unavailable to play every year between December 21 and March 20, so as to allow them time to sleep.
Groggy : (See Winter Hibernation ability above) After awakening from hibernation every March, your furbolg is seriously groggy and suffers massively reduced movement speed, blurry vision, and an inability to participate in professions or use mounts. However, their grogginess also makes them grumpy, massively increasing the amount of damage they deal. These effects gradually wane over the first 8 hours of played time post-hibernation.
Tell me what you think/if you have any other ideas for racial abilities!
I love the Natural Weapons one. Kinda wish the Worgen had that too.
Brother bear I love that flavor concept! Also it’d be really fun to sit next to some of the bigger bear mobs and just be like… hanging with my friends.
Running Wild… sounds familiar somehow… can’t quite put my finger on it.
Would be a neat concept for them too though.
I’m also a big fan of the teleportation racials so I love the Ancestral Pilgrimage and I like the places you choose. For fun I’d also add in Stillpine hold as for the Alliance at least its probably going to be an important area for furbolg.
Love all of these!
Ursine Hide is a good standard passive racial concept.
Dominant Bellow is a bit strong but awesome.
Guardian Spirits is really unique.
Handy Honeycomb would be so fun to use!
Honestly even all of these would be amusing as all heck.
I could actually see them do the Picnic Basket concept maybe a little dumbed down to be more balanced. lol
Love them very nice! I’ll get em added to the main post a little later today!
Would be an interesting derivation for Furbolg overall as they tend to favor more natural materials and don’t do a lot of metal working. I’d love to see the changes in their culture for that.
Really would be cool.
While I don’t really see it as a first or not sort of situation I am not opposed to the Tuskarr in general. Also there is some signs we might get them before long with their new updates.
Still its not a this or that needs to come first or second or what have you. People should focus on what they’d like to request and see and worry less about what other are requesting and want to see.
There is plenty of room on that character select screen.
Was trying to think of a good way they could work it in.
If Khaz’Algal is in a cold area, could have the furbolg close allies to the earthen dwarves and where they learned metalworking and such. Then gain, could have a variety of bear types and not only polar lol
Something I was wondering about with the Winterpelt Furbolg is if the story eventually would lead them into letting other Furbolg tribe members in, if that could lead to other refugees from other tribes to seek joining them as well.
So there, there is only the Winterpelt tribe and the one that joined with the Primalists that I’m aware of, with the latter only having like a small handful of refugees. I don’t know if there are any other tribes or any other refugees, but it’d be interesting to see more tribe members join together with the Winterpelt Furbolgs. Maybe making their own council and such.
While I don’t know if any of this would lead to them becoming the playable Furbolg faction, it would be a good lead-in to having playable Furbolgs with a variety of fur colors and such. Not a guarantee they’ll become playable this expansion, of course. It’s just a thought I had. We’ll have to see what direction their story goes when we can raise more rep with in in the hopefully near future.
I’ll continue to keep an eye out for more Dragonflight Furbolg information to report back here!
I’m curious to know if the furbolg model from Kalimdor and Northrend aren’t updated because they have a different morphology from the other ones (from the Dragon Islands) or if it’s just because they don’t do it.
