Well silver linings abound after all.
I hope Blizzard does something good with those story strands.
Preferably something playable…

Imagine people crying, asking for a nerf.
To be expected with anything good (fun alarm)
With this story strand, hopefully that something would be Saberon at least, of course!
Supporting Saberon as an Allied Race.
Personally, I think they fit the Horde better. I think they could be the equivalent of “Worgen” for Horde for those who love the Worgen race, but can’t stand the Alliance. x)
Like with the Arakkoa, I think a Druid class for them would be very interesting. Not sure if that’s appropriate lorewise, but imagine some sort of cat-like aquatic form for Saberon.
…
Catfish.
…
I’ll just go.
Sea lion.
Lionfish.
With my single day of free game time running out shortly, I just wanted to make a quick post.
A fun and interesting fact is that Saberon were in the game files back in MoP.
Weren’t they originally planned as a hostile tiger race?
If they were planned to be hostile, I wonder if they may have been based on the Rakshasa from D&D:
They were fairly evil, and I remember them being enemies in at least one of the old Gold Box D&D games.
But on the bright side, we ended up getting Saberon as our WoW feline race, who could potentially have a chance of getting fleshed out into a potential playable race in the future, so I think we got the better deal.
If not Saberon (which I want) then they’ll make up another cat race native to Azeroth. If I remember correctly, most of the beast races on Azeroth are “children” or the ancients. Who’s to say Ashamane doesn’t have a cat race based on her.
Happy Halloween to those who celebrate it!
Here is a neat video that talks about some interesting facts on black cats, which are fitting for Halloween in general:
Hope everyone has a fun, happy, and safe Halloween. Still hoping to see Saberon able to celebrate Hallow’s End someday!
I would love to have this breed with Lion Tematica for Alliance.
I have a black kitten named Styx and I swear she’s reincarnation of my late cat (also black), Spooky.
Since Blizzard’s new mount is a cat, we could at least have saberons, at some future point, as a playable race.
Saberon would look kinda cool on that new cat mount.
I do wonder, assuming the Saberon that came to Azeroth make up the playable Saberon faction, if they would have their mounts being beasts from Azeroth, or if it is assumed they brought some beasts with them from Draenor they could mount. I could see either working, though I wonder what beasts in the Barrens Saberon would tame on Azeroth to ride as mounts…or for Hunter starting pets, for that matter.
As Lore mentioned in the OP, the only sign of them having mounts is a skeletal raptor that Saberon garrison followers ride, which is an interesting albeit odd choice. Makes me wonder if they practice necromancy at all. I also don’t think I’ve seen NPC Saberon ride mounts at all, from what I remember.
Some things to ponder and discuss, of course, but that’s part of the fun of these megathreads! I also should fly around some Saberon settlements to see if I can find a banner of some kind with any of the tribes. As well as get that Saberon illusion toy I linked several posts ago for screenshot purposes.
I’ll see if I can come up with some Saberon research to share in the near future.
Meow-ception.
Yes! Yes! Cat people, please~
One day I hope to see the Saberon be playable.
I’m thinking they should take over the old Dwarven Fortress and use it as a new den for their people as they stretch out their claws towards Azeroth’s horizon.
That base could be a possibility. I recall from questing in Classic that the Dwarves were tearing up the land, which the Tauren were not amused about:
If the base was abandoned, I’m curious if the Tauren may have taken over to try to heal the land in some fashion. That one Tauren seemed adamant about their land being disturbed.
Not that I expect Saberon to continue to dig there, of course. I’m just wondering if it is indeed abandoned or if the Tauren took over it is all. It’s a definite possibility if it is abandoned. If Saberon became Horde, I could see the Tauren being more friendly to letting them live there.
Of course, the best place for Saberon is somewhere on that character creation screen!
