They made the shop version of the brutosaur better than the in-game version.

And the none shop version didn’t involve a challenge.

he did not talk about reskins just generally

Five million gold is plenty challenging for most people.

And I don’t think it’s prestige blizzard is worried about. It’s punishment because you weren’t subscribed for 10 years. They see people want the mage tower, and believe it’s a good cosmetic to perm lock to newer and returning players. Even if it’s a combat form with no other just as good choices. It’s a message you’ll never look your best just because you weren’t subscribed or aware.

And not to mention how this rewards toxic behavior, when normal people with mt appearances wouldn’t care if it came back.

As challenging as entering your credit card and buy tokens.

Yes, emotionally intelligent adult human beings wouldn’t care if new players earned their mage tower appearances again.

I have the mage tower appearances, I think it would be perfectly fine for them to return

No, the mage tower wasn’t prestigious or challenging.

Here is how your average player defeated the mage tower on every class:

  1. Buy wow tokens
  2. Use wow token gold to purchase level boosts in game for each class.
  3. Use more wow token gold to buy mythic raid carries for mythic titan forged antorus gear - probably walked away from the raid at least 965 ilvl (due to titan forging allowing you to achieve higher ilvl than the raid drops).
  4. Faceroll every single mage tower challenge on every spec without even using keybinds (because your class now had two legendaries equipped, max artifact power, extra artifact traits from nether light crucible and a METRIC TON EXTRA ILVL).

And that’s how prestigious the mage tower was.

I’ve repeatedly said to bring them back, albeit in the form of NEW tints and having to actually earn them again in a new challenge. But to just give them away for free, ya blizzard said no. But sure…okay.

So why doesn’t everyone that was playing have it?

Participation trophies require you participate.

Is that your argument for getting it for free a decade later?

I am extremely skeptical there were masses of players doing this. If there were, the completion rate would be much higher than it is.

While I’m not saying the majority did, I just want to point out that it being possible doesn’t mean the completion rate would be higher (than it was recorded as).

Not everyone had the money to do so. And not everyone was willing to risk their account.

Who asked to get it for free?

But to be fair that is how most things in WoW works.

Agreed. There’ll be an angry mob of FOMO-loving players raising pitchforks because their identities are deeply embedded in their exclusive trophies.

But who among them will affect MicroBliz’s bottom dollar by quitting over the change? My guess is: almost none.

And the folks who have needed to take breaks here and there will wholeheartedly embrace the change.

To the top we will not be stopped

Yes, it entirely won’t cause poopoo to hit the fan when day one they said classic characters will never be transferable to retail, causing players to not play since there’s no incentive to get old items now, only for 6/7/8/9 years down the line go “yeah, we fibbed” (remember that they reiterated numerous times during classic lifecycle that they’ll remain separate).

Totes.

Will they quit over it? Not likely. But you think having 3 or 4 “Druid MT plz give” posts is a lot… lol…but hey. It’ll be fun to see i guess.

They’ve fibbed/changed their mind a lot over the years, over many different issues. And they will continue to do so. It’s a growing, changing game.

I’m not pulling this expectation out of thin air. Blizzard asked the Classic players if they’d like to transfer their toons to Retail in a survey.

And anyway, earning stuff thru Classic preserves the “historical context” Ion spoke of when it comes to such items.

My personal conspiracy theory: preventing MoP, WoD, and Legion Challenge rewards from being obtainable in these Remixes - while also refusing to create items of the same quality - is a purposeful bid to get more players into Classic servers.

Regardless…I missed four expansions. I’m gonna have lots of fun in Classic playing what I missed. No time wasted for me.

I want more clarity from Blizz regarding Classic to retail character transfers. Did the survey indicate whether any rewards would be transferred or not if characters were allowed to transfer from Classic to retail? Character transfer does not automatically mean the rewards will transfer, although I’ve read some posts that assume that it does.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the rewards earned in Classic stayed in Classic (regardless of whether a Classic toon is transferred to retail) unless Blizz goes all the way and combines all classic and retail rewards across the entire account. I would love to see more players able to earn the rewards I’ve been able to enjoy for so many years (MoP CM sets and the original CM mount colors). Blizz needs to be clear right now whether or not any Classic rewards will ever transfer to retail so that those that want the CM sets will have clarity whether or not it’s worth trying to earn them in Classic if they want them in retail. I mention the CM sets because Blizz is treating them the same way as the mage tower appearances. I don’t expect Blizz to provide any clarity and that’s a problem.
