people could just buy wow tokens, get raid carries for gold and sneeze on their keyboard to complete the mage tower in mythic antorus gear.

the thing to note about this whole situation is that it is all about money.
the mage tower appearances and their return revolves around financial gain for microsoft.
once it becomes apparent that bringing back the mage tower weapons will net a higher profit than leaving them unobtainable, then it will be the microsoft shareholders demanding the return of the mage tower weapons

This is the tricky part because I think blizzard already knows it would be very profitable and they likely know that they wouldn’t get severe blowback so I think their true reason might be more about principles or not wanting to set a precedent (which is a bit silly at this point)

I think this frustrates me more than anything else, since it’s such an expected response. They can do something just once, but they’re so wishy-washy already!
At first it’s a hard no to returning AOTC mounts, but then Violet Spellwing is made available? I mean I don’t expect them to be a firm rock in a sea of chaos, but this is so inconsistent. I expressed that I wish that they would start doing things because they’re fun and not because of honors, but Spellwing has me hung up on this. Raiding and PVP have had badges of pride since time began, but Mage Tower doesn’t represent anything near that level of pride, and even worse Spellwing was one of those badges!
Even as I stand here advocating for MT cats and bears, spellwing genuinely makes me angry. THAT is the Legion achievement mount, not the stupid mage tower. These two things should have been reversed!
Of course, I don’t see very many people sobbing bitter tears over Spellwing…

No, this would be incorrect.
Blizzard is currently weighing the two options right now:
- Releasing mage tower weapons increases new sub count from new players joining or old players re-subbing to get the mage tower appearances
- Current players just unsubbing because they know they can get whatever cosmetics whenever they want (playing on FOMO tendencies).
The main issue is that sub counts are falling hard and the reveal of midnight has had the absolute worst reception of any expansion in the history of wow.
True WoD and shadowlands did very poorly but they were very hype prior to release. Midnight isn’t even hype on release.
So when the current amount of subs reduces beyond a certain point, it becomes apparent that releasing the mage tower weapons earns them more money.
This isn’t true in the slightest: it is fiction created by trolls.
I literally dealt with ZERO mechanics on the havoc mage tower. Not even one.
Saying the mage tower required skill is like saying “it requires skill to do damage to a target dummy in dornagol.” lol
Even this poster stated they one shot the feral mage tower in 879 ilvl
The max item level with titanforging was 975.
People were 879 ilvl, which is ALMOST ONE HUNDRED below the max ilvl, and they were easily one-shotting the mage tower.
i imagine the people who struggled are people who peaked at heroic dungeons/lfr

After all the time and money and hard work I have put into this game. I actually beat the mage tower in an old account and was there did the achievement and lost the account. Now there is no way to get these skins and I for one am not going to support FOMO. They say that they are doing this for prestigious rule reasons ok I would by that if they didn’t offer a recolor of a AH mount that was a 100 bucks and other paid 5 mil gold and worked for months to get. Also many worked years to get rare mounts from raids and they gave a buff that helped others get them very quickly. Not to mention the TCG ( trading card game ) mounts that some paid millions of gold for and now they are twitch drops and even given away on the trading post. Also AOTC mounts are coming back now REALLY what about the people who worked so hard to get them before the next expac. I’m seeing a double standard here and I am going to wait through remix to see what they do and then if not satisfied I will not renew my sub and play another mmo that really does honor there players.
