Unintended Bear and Cat Forms (Part 1)

Well hopefully when this reversal happens, the forms we HAVE obtained from Legion as well as Dragonflight, won’t be mistakenly removed along with what shouldn’t be there. Apologies if my faith in “the system” seems skewed…I won’t speak for everyone here, or in the general community, but given how things have happened before, my skepticism is warranted.

So let players earn them.

Keep the weapons locked. Whatever.

Druid forms are CRUCIAL to the druid experience though

And Blizz changed the terms for the forms anyways; they should’ve kept them “specialization locked” (like they claimed they were) if they wanted it to be some “100% exclusive”, but Blizzard didn’t.

Now, they’ve reignited everyone. Blizzard should open up the forms so that more people have a chance to earn them. Or go back and specialization lock them (which is more fair but NOT preferred since again, forms are Crucial to the druid experience).

Blizzard also said that the new housing would have special decorations for achievements… maybe give the older generation of players who earned it something really nice for their home. Otherwise, it just feels like we are waiting for the older players to finally “age out” so that we can have an equal druidic experience.

This is far different than if it were an outfit or weapon. Druid forms are their character models.

I did All 36 back in legion and still think it’s asinine that they decided just to remove them instead of making it evergreen.

If Blizzard wasn’t so totally bent on remaking the game every expansion it would be easier to keep challenging content relevant without a consistent need to re-balance encounters in order to preserve the challenge .

They were advertised as limited time only. They were marketed that way to bring in maximum participation. This isn’t a normal occurrence

I think that If they go back on their word for this, they could open themselves up for a false advertising suit.

Precedents like the FTC’s crackdown on loot box scams show regulators don’t play, false scarcity to juice engagement? That’s predatory as hell.

Then it’s time to make something even better than the past forms. Give us a golden or rainbow or ashes coloration of sparkle kitty.

Give us sparkles or give us death

Also they’ve re-released time-limited things & repeatedly produced recolorations of old items

Turns out running and maintaining data centers isn’t actually free.

The funny thing about Titan there that you’re replying too, he won’t take no for an answer in regards to Alliance High Elves, but he is basically telling everyone to take no for an answer in regards to the Mage Tower Artifact Skins.

If they were honest about it I would think more of them. You’re saying that and that may very well be correct though after 7 years do they still count, but still. Just say hey guys we can’t give them back to you for this reason. The players are complaining because they have the shiny thing and these players don’t need to stuff a sock in it. Just be honest with us Blizzard. I’d let it go if you would. Until then let me earn it. Because that’s all I want.

I’m all for recolors that are evergreen that everyone can earn.

I’d actually love that. I’d love it if a druid could “attune” to an animal and just shift to that form using the hunters og system of cunning, ferocity, tenacity. Boomkin would stay boomkin :joy:

And we should NOT be letting this matter slide. These forms are crucial. Are separate from the weapons. And should be made earnable or accessible. Continue to speak up

for me it’s the sparkles.

They also should release many sparkle colors with the same level of vividity the old ones had.

I also (in general) don’t know how they could consider doing a legion remix without releasing the biggest part of legion: artifact weapon mage skins

(even if it meant bringing the old ones back OR creating equally good ones - if not better)

Yeah, they said that for all the other removed items that have made a return as well.

This is a bad faith argument.

Yes it costs money for them to maintain the servers, to run them. It costs money for them to keep staff on board (tho the big boys at Microsoft love cutting staff through layoffs), they still generate a profit on top of that, and it’s not some small margin. The Brutosaur from the shop brought in literally millions of dollars for a single mount. The Blizzard Devs can afford to release the MT appearances with some effort required on the players part.

an argument about Loot Box scams and an FTC crackdown, doesn’t hold much merit when the company itself has been inconsistent on what they determine to be exclusive content.

I think all of us could agree that while this argument has been around since the initial blue post stating that the MT appearances would be unavailable. That the bug has invariably brought up the discussion again and pulled it to the front only has managed to reignite the arguments even more. A bug caused the forms to show up for some druids (not all, and not consistently all the forms).

The pixelated sparklecat was let out of the bag, and folks are understandably irritated on both sides of the argument. But only a small number are in camp “just let us keep it” and a significant chunk of the posters here are in camp, “Bring back a challenge mode that allows us to get the form.”

I dont event want a newly designed recolored refashioned felfire cat form. It shouldn’t be a Legion Remix limited time only thing. Just flip the switch to where if you did your Mage Tower on a specific specialization you get the weapon appearance.

The felfire form would suck. It wouldn’t sparkle comparably. and it wouldn’t be cute.

I don’t know how they could consider doing a legion remix without releasing the biggest part of legion: artifact weapon mage skins

I am not at all surprised.

People on Remix can solo Mythic raids and there’s an achievement for doing a +40 Key. There is really no comparison to the actual legion expansion where many people struggled to do Heroic and doing a +15 was fairly difficult.

It’s clear they intended Mage Tower to be challenging. This is why when they re-released it they locked you to a certain item level. Remix really is the exact opposite of what they were going for to preserve the challenge.

While the Tower was easier in Antorus, it was still a challenge for many specs, and many people didn’t complete it despite making an attempt. The tank challenge comes to mind - missing any mechanic is likely to kill you or Velan. Having higher DPS wasn’t a huge bonus like it would have been in some of the DPS challenges.

I’m personally not opposed to leaving it locked and having recolors via some other avenue. I am against giving access for free. Even today some artifact skins require considerable time investment and I think that’s good for the game.

Even today, certain titles and achievements show at least a minimal mastery of PVE content on a solo basis. I disagree that’s a bad thing and would like to see more of it.

Even if this was the problem: just let the remix characters attempt* the legion mage tower (for a period) once they’re converted to normal non-timewalking toons. Boom. Difficulty problem solved.

“Blizzard didn’t just imply the Mage Tower appearances were one-and-done—they shouted it. Dev blogs, interviews, and patch notes hammered the “limited-time prestige” angle. For example, Ion Hazzikostas (game director and lawyer-turned-raid-boss) said in 2017 these were for “those who prove themselves” during Legion, with no plans for re-release. Compare that to, say, the Ahead of the Curve mounts (like Sylvanas’ banshee ride in BfA). Those were billed as temporary, but Blizzard’s been cagey, not dogmatic, about their return—some, like the Jaina mount, resurfaced in later expansions. Mage Tower skins, though? They’re the poster child for “you had to be there,” and Blizzard’s doubled down on that vibe.“

These were explicitly advertised as limited time only. There was no ambiguity, we were promised absolute exclusivity with this.
