Unholy Cannot Continue as a Single Spec

Won’t happen. Also just no.

Never said it would, also no yourself. :dracthyr_crylaugh:

Its not necessarily the archetypes, its how theyre implemented. Funnily enough, removing wounds would smoothen a lot up. Or making it a player buff. Necromancy is often accompanied with diseases.

This was tried and it was terrible

I’m fine with that but I don’t understand what the uproar is? DK players love playing mini games within their rotation and paying attention to the fight?

The main problem with unholy is it requires far too many GCds and time to get rolling due to the excessive # of CDs. None of the meta classes have more than 2 offensive CDs

You can have the same problem with a spec that has doesnt have an identity problem.

in PVP you want granular control of your spells, DT is required to convert leap into a root/interupt known as a “pet kick”, the last thing you want is to not have DT available when you need it because apoc is on cooldown or because you don’t have wounds on a melee range target to use it.

to answer your second question, yeah kinda, as long as the output matches the effort. you gain a certain level of pride in mastering a complex class with a lot of abilities, keybinds, spell interactions and caveats to keep track of.

That was because they glued dark transformation onto Apocalypse instead of the reverse.

It was an absolute nightmare to be forced to build 4 wounds and be in melee range to transform our ghoul.

But imagine if they just removed Apocalyse and made it so that Dark Transformation also summoned 4 Army of the Dead ghouls.

Disagree.

I prefer the pvp profile where active abilities do more damage. If I wanted to play Demo lock I would.

Biggest issue I have with UH is how heavily modified a few abilities are to work. 8 Death Coil modifiers/interactions on the tree is overkill and takes up talent real-estate.

Commander of the Dead is too powerful. It makes UH external dependent. Should be best single target but not by the margin it is.

Unholy DK: A master of death and decay, spreading infection and controlling undead minions to do their bidding.

The problem with the current damage profile is that our pets do negative damage and have extremely weak utility. We get that you don’t like pet classes but that’s exactly what Unholy is in essence.

This is maybe an unoriginal idea, but would love to see a way to build an Unholy spec that leans more in summoning short term minions on fairly short cool downs. I don’t know how to design this without blatantly ripping off Demo locks but you get the general idea.

I mean idea I came up with in less than a minute

Ravening Wounds.
Passive
Bursting a Festering wound on a target has a chance to cause a Ravening Wound on the target, dealing X Shadow Damage over 18 sec.
Hitting a target with a Ravening Wound with Death Coil consumes the Wound and raises an undead Ghoul, Archer, or Magus to fight for you for 20 seconds.

Contagious Wounds
Passive
Your Epidemic causes 1 Festering or Ravening Wound on your primary target to spread to all other targets hit by your Epidemic.

Death Coil Barrage or Reaping Coil. Whichever sounds cooler.
45 Second CoolDown. 60 RP?
Unleash a volley of Death Coils at every target afflicted by a Ravening Wound.
