Underpin is healing even when I destroy every shield on time bug?

Hey all, so I have been trying to get this boss down again after many failed attempts, I have noticed of late that even if I destroy his shield 100% of the time he still finds a way to heal himself, the last run I did which got him to around 50% hp, I looked at details and it showed me doing 340mil dmg, are the cronies healing him I am so confused?

I am pumping as much dps as I can being 669il enhance and doing bombs as best as I can but somehow, he just has so hp.

  • I just did another attempt, I did 399mill and destroyed every shield and he still had over 132mill hp left, I don’t get it something else has to be healing him, but I can’t find answers anywhere and I recorded the whole fight as well.

Any suggestions because I am losing my mind.

So I was told I could look on details to see enemy healing done, the Underpin healed 185.61million, how is that possible if I destroyed every shield on time?

If he’s healing, you aren’t destroying the shield. You might think you’re destroying it, but the fact that he heals is saying otherwise.

Also, youre giving is your total damage number, which means nothing without the time factor added. What is your actual DPS?

I did destroy each shield I am uploading a YT vid of me doing it and even with me narrating about destroying the shield on time, I 481mill did 1.28mill dps by the end.

399.41mill to Underpin
50.29mill to time bomb
31.31mill to Crony.

There were 5 shields over the fight in which I 100% destroyed as the video will show, idk if I can put YT links in here tho.

I guess we’ll never know then

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrdgwtJDXZ4) that is the video of the fight I put timestamps in the description for when each shield comes up.

Bro, he never healed once during that fight. What are you even talking about?

I’ve been watching his health bar steadily decline…You’re aware the shields are extra health, right?

One issue I see is you spend a lot of time standing around, trying to position the boss and not actually DPSing. That’s why this is taking so long.

Damage to the shield counts as damage to him. Your details isn’t lying, but he’s also not healing. You’re just seeing shield damage on it.

On my details tho it shows he healed for 185.61M but it doesn’t tell me where the healing came from.

That’s the shield. You’re playing the game, you can clearly see as you play his health % never once shot up.

Damage prevented by shields is tracked in the “healing done” category of details. If it wasn’t then discipline priests would always be the bottom healer.

In the clip you uploaded he isn’t healing. He’s just absorbing damage with his shield which is then tracked as healing and also contributes to your overall damage done as shields are essentially just added hit points.

This is really easy to test. Go do a throwaway run and set details to show enemy healing. Nuke him down, wait for the shield and observe that it states he healed cause of the shield spawning on him.

Well, healing won’t be shown til he dps’s the shield

I never tracked it. I just assumed as soon as the shield spawn it’d trigger the healing concept, but that’s also easy to test too by dpsing the shield and watching how details reports healing.

Basically, Underpin is deceptive due to his guaranteed shield that’ll spawn multiple times over the fight. I know after a few attempts I looked at my damage done and was like “Wait, was I close to killing him” and I just put two and two together that because the shield exists details isn’t accurate for what HP I got him down to.

This is exactly what it is and absorb effects are tracked as heals. Not sure how anyone has confusion over this lol.

If a disc priest just sat there and let you beat on him while he did nothing but shield himself he would have healing done and by the end of it you would have done way more damage than he has in base HP.

If you think about, makes sense, a shield isn’t a heal til it absorbs damage that would otherwise go to hp

But yea, his hp is a bit deceptive with the shield lol

I think personally I am just over retail, it just has so many annoying things it now and look I never really spend time as a healer/ tank so telling me that a shield is a heal makes no sense because you are not healing the damage, you are covering it, it should say shield damage done/dmg done to shield as part of the total dmg not showing it as healing done because that is just a lie, it is not healing the wound, it has probably been like for ages but I just over this game and I simply am not enjoying it anymore the undermine raid was fun but everything is just so time-gated and grindy. You can hate on me all you like.

You could have just never responded again to the thread, and we would have thought you just accepted to oopsies and went on to kill him.

Instead you baby-rage over not understanding mechanics.

Lol. Lmao, even.

Ok, I do admit I didn’t know about the shields with healing done etc, but having a simple weirdness like that in the game for so long in 2025 is just silly, you can’t defend that, I was honestly on a not wanting to play retail for a while now and that Underpin was the last straw and no I will not ghost the thread, I will say it as how I see it wherever people agree or disagree, you don’t ghost ppl in real life if there was an issue or a fault you have caused between them so why would you do it here? You admit that you were in the wrong and move on.

Its not weird though, and has been in the game for many years now.

As another has said in here, how would classes like Disc Priest have their healing count if this was not a thing?

A simple google search of “do shields count as healing” within the last two months would have solved your issue instantly.

You probably should quit playing, because you’re woefully out of your depth.

What you’re complaining about isn’t even an issue with the game, it’s how an addon represents data.
