I really like the idea of being able to experience the MoP expansion which happened before I started playing. The only thing that gives me pause is all the stuff they’re saying about OP powers and fast XP, which make it sound more like a speedrunning event (not my thing). I’ll probably try it out for the cosmetics, but if it’s just oneshotting every mob &c. I’ll probably quit. Not a fan of time-limited content either.
If they hadn’t made the Garrison as a one off feature of an expansion and intended it to be evergreen content you and everyone else would be using it now. It would still be useful.
But they didn’t and continue to fail to learn that they need to make things that won’t depreciate immediately upon the next season starting.
Blizzard, one of the larger gaming companies, can’t get it’s butt together to make long lasting content?
It’s not that their resources don’t allow it. It’s that their use of those resources is bad.
which is exactly what you will be doing. You will be leveling a character and gearing them to make them more powerful, and then when Remix ends we’ll be bringing the characters into the main game, leveled and geared and ready to be played.
The whole point of having everyone start at level 10 is so that people cant bring uber mythic geared characters into the event and trivialize it.
Looking forward to it. Hopefully with a fun twist and the cosmetics sound good.
And I read this part - and told my brothers about it in case they wanted to build up a character ready for The War Within.
’ All Remix characters created during the event will convert to a standard character to play within modern World of Warcraft at the end of the event.’
I might well do this and replace my lower level characters when the new expansion arrives.
Yessss, Lets Go!!
Can we get the CM sets or not? don’t hide that!
Well, then I stand corrected on that one. I’ll chalk that up to very odd outlier thinking and now regret not reading it fully to take back my like. lol
I was levelling a Warrior, got her to 18, was going to level some more today, but I’m going to pass now and wait for this event.
I Sitll waiting for wow head get more info on this event I BLIZZARD, IT BETTER GET IT SORT IN ORDER, FOR WE NEED KOR’KORN ITEMS!!!
I’ve been playing the game for 20 years and already have every possible combination of race class characters that I have time to play with already at level some level if not 60–70. I’m not looking for a “level up” experience at this point.
That said, it would be nice to just use one of my pre-existing characters to run thought older content. I’ve already set up for myself something like this with Chromie Time. I have multiple characters, some of them at level 60, sitting in all of the various Chromie Time expansions where I can simply run through any or all of the questing adventures I want.
It would have been nice had Chromie Time been the vehicle through which this “remix” game play was mediated. It certainly would have made more sense from the perspective of a 20 year player of the game to use an existing character rather than roll up yet another character to do so.
I’m also a bit disappointed that this event sounds like it’s a limited time adventure. Why? For the Fear of Missing out factor? I think you guys are going to find that players are getting more and more fed up with that kind of mechanic. If anything, I ignore FOMO events because I already have to ration my playtime on the activities that are the most important to me. Not adding another one is pretty much a no brain decision at this point.
In summary, this seems like a fun event to engage with but has been removed from consideration due to unnecessary limitations and constraints. Good luck and have fun to those players who may not be engaging with WoW otherwise though, it sounds like a fun adventure for them.
I do not see how this is an issue.
I don’t enjoy raiding. That doesn’t mean I think it’s an issue that people have the option to raid.
Well, that’s a fair point, and I wish they had. The garrison reminds me of the old warcraft RTS days, which is why I still play around with it. I wish it was more evergreen like you are describing.
Hopefully they start to do more of what you are thinking. Aren’t they continuing to use the dragonriding system in the next expansion? It might be that they have done expansion-centric content for so long that it’s just difficult for them to think outside that box. I remember seeing an early dragonflight interview with Ion talking about going forward with dragonriding in future expansions and it seemed like the idea struck him as strange.
I am currently really enjoying SOD but I could get excited about this. Yes, I played MOP but after seeing how the devs handled SOD I think this iteration of MOP could be a lot of fun.
Is there any possibility of a character rebirth a la Diablo seasons rather than starting an entirely new character? I’m fine with leveling again but I honestly don’t have any desire for additional alts.
if wrathions capes and challenge mode gear isnt in this whats the point. most will avoid.
also no pandas allowed. ever.
Now this looks amazing!
They’ve done actually rather well at some initial setups to fix some of it. Specifically with gearing.
Most of the “event” content through DF was updated to keep up with ilvls.
But that’s a major far cry from actual evergreen content.
I think they’ve got an idea. They just won’t let themselves give into it fully and up-end nearly 20 years of mentality.
They need to imo. And it’s driving me nuts cause I like this game. I’d like to not feel like I’m literally just a cash point to them.
Edit:
Forgot to touch on dragon riding being brought forward.
This isn’t evergreen content so much as a system they feel makes their issues with flight in wow fixed. Which I do applaud.
It’s a start though.
I hope they put the original CM sets AND the recolors in to be earned through this. If that’s the case I will not rest until I have EVERY SINGLE DAMN ONE of them.
And that will be great for new players. Not so great for someone that has been playing a main for years. I’ll probably use this as an excuse to roll another alt, but it would be great if I could play this new content on the main that I’ve had for years.
