When I try to free transfer from Maladath it acts like it’s going to for a moment but then does nothing. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have advice on how I can fix this?

It’s possible you have pending mail or something else that might be preventing it. Unfortunately, I can’t see those characters right now so I can’t say for certain.
I’d give it a little time if you can and try again later. If the issue persists, post in the Classic Bug Report forum and list which character you are having trouble with. QA might be able to take a look.

I cleared my mail. Could it be because horde are locked on nightslayer?
Ah! Yes, very possible. I believe Nightslayer still has a faction imbalance so creation there is restricted.

Are there any workarounds? I apologize for being needy but it’s a high level character.
Workaround to an intentional faction balance restriction? Wouldn’t be much of a restriction if there were.

Yeah but my character will get deleted if it doesn’t get moved.
If its faction imbalance, I would try to create a horde character on Nightslayer, it might take a few tries but try every 5-10 min, once you create a horde character, attempt the character copy again.

Why not just link them at this point?
Cross link the realms like we did way back when for Modern WoW? I don’t know, it isn’t something that Customer Support really has any insight into. I expect doing that is a bit more complicated and this made more sense overall, but it’s just a guess.

In any case thanks for your insight. I hope they open up horde on NS so I can play my character on NS.

Random shot in the dark. Any chance I could xfer it to my other account? I have an account withe horde on nightslayer, I just didn’t want to pay for 2 subs, but here we are.

You can’t transfer/merge accounts anymore, just keep trying it will open, but easier to create a char, then to try to time the transfer.
I understand. I’m just trying to find some kind of reasonable compromise given the circumstances.
Yeah, unfortunately there aren’t any real ways around just waiting till the faction balances. Usually watching other posts where people are trying to get in, its not to long of a process, just tedious.
One of the devs provided a bit of info about why the decision was made not to connect realms here: Burning Crusade Anniversary Pre-Patch Downtime
From what was stated in that thread (along with some other info they provided on their personal social media), connecting realms is a tremendously complicated undertaking that can create a lot of other problems. I’m going out on a limb here, but I’d also guess that there would be some complicating factors associated with doing Connected Realms between OCE and US realms. That’s just a semi-educated guess, though - while cloud infrastructure and databases do fall within my area of professional experience, all I know about how Blizz manages those things for WoW is based on what actual Blizzard employees have been able to share publicly.
